It's not FOR you, Jen

[info]themadscientist
Nintendo set the Internet afire yesterday with the announcement of a (mostly expected) $50.00 price cut on the Wii U, three different ways to buy Wind Waker (including one with a Ganon action figure)
and oh yeah

They are planning to release a new redesign of the 3DS called a "2DS" on the same day of Pokemon X and Y. It's only $130.00 and looks like a tablet. Supposedly this version is aimed at people who don't want to use the 3D and for children lower than seven years of age.

Which naturally means that the Internet collectively loses their bananas.

Responses range from:
I don't get it
to it's ugly and who is it aimed at
to complaining about complaining about the 2DS is prejudice
SHUT UP AND STOP COMPLAINING IT'S NOT FOR YOU
and SCUZE ME WHERE IS MY 5DS NOW (I like this one a lot)
seriously this is dumb

The biggest trolling went on Nintendo's YouTube page, as trolls and critics went directly to the source. Hence why the announcement is now not showing ratings nor allowing comments (warning: loud 8-bit music).

You can browse the 2DS tumblr tags for more.

Luckily, Iwata and Black Nerd Rants seem to have explained the matter, as the anger has (mostly) quieted down now.

Mini Gamer Wank

[info]themadscientist
The top-secret reveal of the week came on Monday.

There's going to be a Bayonetta 2.

Fans rejoiced!

Except... it's going to be exclusively on the Nintendo Wii U.

That... doesn't go over so well.

In fact - the creators themselves have to issue an explanation. Yowza.

Kotaku collects their favorite rage!Tweets here, plus more comments but my personal favorite is a blog here created specifically to tell everyone how to STICK IT TO THE MAN by buying the system and game used.

But my favorite comment so far comes from this tumblr and is essentially:

Gamers: We want mature exclusives on the Wii U!
Nintendo: Here's Bayonetta 2 exclusive for the Wii U!
Gamers: FUCK YOU FOR STEALING THAT GAME!

Fail mods are failing

[info]sepiamagpie
Dearest, beloved, Fandom Wank.

I know you were looking forward to great excitement today. Some of you said words to me that indicated you anticipated fiery 'judgement' upon those who remained fresh and dewey white, those you call n00bs.

Anyway, you got today instead.

Stop anticipating things, we'll just break your hearts.

Sincerely,

Sepia P. Magpie, Esq.

PS: Use this post to reflect on how you could be better people. Or just fuck around in the comments.

Super Mario Galaxy sucks! This message brought to you by Sony

[info]reeve
This week, entertainment industry magazine Variety reviewed Super Mario Galaxy, probably this year's most highly anticipated Nintendo Wii game. The review contains statements that seem designed to stoke the fires of hardcore Ninty fanboys everywhere, such as: As good as the game is, though, it’s evidence of how bad the Wii is for third person action games, a problem first made clear in last year’s “Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.” Holding the nunchuk, which moves Mario, and the Wii-mote, which makes him jump and spin, in separate hands, is an awkward arrangement.

Statements like these would invite vitriol on their own, but there was also a noticable "Sponsored by Sony" ad at the top of the page (note: it's not there any more). That and the review ending on the note that Mario's graphics are inferior to the latest Rachet and Clank game (a PS3 exclusive) smells more than a bit suspicious to many of the commenters:

ZOMG CONSPIRACY! )

As an added bonus, the Kotaku and Joystiq threads about the review have some wank (and teal deer) as well, but the best bits seem to be in the Variety comments.

ETA - Somewhat related: Variety posts a news article about the upcoming Ghostbusters game. Included in this piece is the revelation that the Wii, DS, and PS2 versions will be more family oriented, while the PC, 360, and PS3 ones will be targeted towards hardcores. From the Go Nintendo thread's comments: I wouldn’t take anything read in Variety with any more value than what I read in supermarket tabloids.

And: Didn’t we learn not to trust Variety earlier today/yesterday when they reviewed Super Mario Galaxy? I would take this information with a grain of salt, just to be sure.

Civil Wii

[info]mcity
A Wii article on digg with wank? I did not see this coming. No, not at all.

Incidentally, 23rwhatever in the first post is a well-known Digg troll. In every Wii article, it seems, he claims that the Wii remotes are inaccurate(without citing any sources or personal experience), and is immediately dugg under. And check out anicejew's analogy o' nonsense! It's just a barrel of lulz today, folks.
anicejew: Re: the question of whether I am a know it all smartass -- #1 I am right, so sorry if this bothers you, and #2, perhaps you are just an idiot.

More System Wank!

[info]sweeneytodd
As the release of the Wii and PS3 grows nearer, the gamefaqs message board begin to grow more and more batshit. So basically Resistance: Fall of Man is being released on the PS3 and for one reason or another XBox 360 fans go over to troll the board.

Newbeing84: I'm curious to see what Gamespot will say. They are a tough crowd to please.
loudassninja: Yeah I would like to know what gamespot score would be as week.
Prabion: Considering that GameSpot employees is riddle with xbox fanboys I don't expect a high score from them.

And you just know that whenever you place a video game console and fanboys in the same sentence is bound to cause e-drama.

More Quotes )

A small kerfluffle, but well worth the laugh.

Wii unpacking wank. Yes, unpacking wank.

[info]mcity
On Joystiq, a gaming blog, Vladmir Cole gets his review Wii and blogs his roomie's commentary while he was unpacking and using it. The word "faggy" is used.

Minutes later, all wank breaks loose. A lot of it about inappropriate use of the word "faggy". Enjoy.
