chuck who?
Via [info]wank_report:

Someone posts a banner promoting a rating community on a Chuck Palahniuk fan comm. The Palahniuk fans don't like it. 117 comments later, the banner is removed, but the wank remains.

Sample...

Community member: "you should have had the common sense to realize that spamming a community would not be appreciated by the member of said community. Its not such a hard concept to grasp."

Rating banner poster: "see let me give you a piece of advice sweetie, if you dont smile at the world, chances are it wont smile back at you."

Other community member: "no one's smiling at you, either. scoot."

This wank provides equal-opportunity eyerolling. The ratings-community-advertiser is annoying, but some of the community members overreact like a maiden aunt spotting a mouse in her soup.

Strikes against it: I didn't see any Fight Club references. WTF, people!

lol people just see an excuse to be bitchy i guess. i love how against the rules it is to post banners (though it doesnt say so anywhere) yet this is one of the entries that has the most comments, people should be happy that i brought a little life to this half dead community.

I didn't see any Fight Club references.

Well, there's a reference to spam, which is kinda like calamari, which will in my mind be FOREVER associated with Palahniuk now... *hurls*

I guess a half hearted Guts reference makes up for the lack of Fight Clubbery. :D

Jesus. So many ratings communities, by the very nature of their existence, are diametrically opposed to the canon they supposedly revere.

They might as well have anarcho-communist ratings communities, or luddite ratings communities. I mean sure, Palahniuk's no V.I. Lenin, but it seems obvious, if these people have even read his books, that he's probably opposed to retarded narcissistic online popularity contests.

A Palahniuk rating community should at least have the absurdity to name itself Invisible Monsters.
