    I HAS NO TIEM!
Sweet baby samchrist (or, diety of your choosing).. I have no time in my life whatsofuckingever now. Teaching, ya'll, is the hardest shit I've ever done. )

Gah, I wish I had the time to update this more, flist, I haven't been keeping up with Systematics either, though I have a thousand journal entries from the past three weeks. I miss you so much and I'm so behind on things, so how you doin?

Also: HURRICANE! *flaily-shoo-hands* GO AWAY GUSTAV! Ya'll, my city just might not be able to stand another hurricane. If you saw just how much is still devastated from Katrina.. *shakes head* Unbelievable and heartbreaking and even a Category 1 might be too much for it to handle.

    Something Important for a Change
Move On is hosting/promoting a voter registration drive in Dallas this weekend. I'm going to help out at Union Station, and would love to have anyone local join me, but there are also other places and times where we can help.

I'm sure there are similar events going on in other cities throughout Texas. I hope that, if you are a Texan, you will consider participating. And if you're not a Texan, please pass this info along to any Texans you may have on your flist. And of course, please consider helping out wherever you are.

Texas has long been considered a gimme for the the farthest right of the Neocons. However, the last election we held here, while a local election, went solidly Democrat. I have seen some indications that the Neocons and hatemongers don't consider Texas quite so much of a gimme anymore.

I think that if we work hard enough, we can turn things around in this state. At the very least, we can make the Thugs devote considerable resources in terms of time and money and turn this state into a battleground state. I honestly believe we can do more than that and help elect Obama and many other progressives.

    Pass it on!

Just finished it as my latest insomniac film - The History Boys is utterly fantastic, and I think it'd be right up the alley of FW folk.

I can't say why beyond the dialogue, but I have this inkling of a feeling it would really be appreciated here.

    Mwahaha. Go watch it!

    Tales of Vesperia Impressions
TOTALLY spoiler-free from plot and story elements, but I do give impressions about the game itself (and some fangirly exclamations oh my GOD Yuri is hot and I NEVER thought I'd say that about a long-haired character).

    Because history repeats itself
    Anyone remember this entry?

Anyone care to hazard a guess on what happened when I went to pick up my paid-in-full reserved copy of Tales of Vesperia today?

Only, they DID get their truck in. Being the only person who reserved the game, and feeling they don't need a copy for their store, they didn't get any in.

Thank god there's a GameStop in the town near where I live (as opposed to where I work), and they had one copy in.

I'll probably apply the money used on that reserved copy to Infinite Undiscovery. I don't mind if that game is a little late. (I think.)

Also, I think the pre-order gift is a music compilation CD, but considering I already own nearly all the soundtracks I felt worth owning since I'm a huge Sakuraba geek, it's no loss on me.

But AGGGGGGGHHHHHHH LESSON LEARNED DON'T EVER PRE-ORDER FROM MALL-STORES.

So. Playing ToV. I'll probably post non-spoilery impressions in a bit.

Joshua Green of The Atlantic apparently watched a completely different speech by Hillary Clinton last night than the one I saw. I am boggled by this review of her speech. I thought she was marvelous and impassioned.

I did have to laugh over Green’s description of Dennis Kucinich (a man I greatly admire) as a “meth-addled smurf.” He was bouncing around a bit.

After watching Senator Clinton’s speech I left the room my TV is in and went back in my office to goof around on the computer. I could still hear the TV and it sounded like the MSNBC folks were screaming at each other. I distinctly heard a gentleman screeching and shouting about Joe Biden. I’m kind of sorry I missed seeing it, as it sounded like the posturing before a wrestling match.

On an even more humorous note, someone playing Sims 2 Apartment Life has posted on the [info]thesims2 comm about a very funny glitch they’ve had.

Last night my trainer took my measurements for the first time since the end of April. I’m a little disappointed that I’ve only lost 1 /2 inch from my upper arms and maybe 2 inches from my bust. But I’ve lost 3 1 /2 inches off my hips, 2 3/4 off my thighs and 5 off my waist. They got a new scale at the end of July and when I weighed on it my weight was actually up 5 pounds so I was depressed and didn’t weigh again until last night. Fortunately those 5 pounds were gone, but unfortunately that was it in terms of pounds lost. But at least I am moving in the right direction again.

More importantly, my range of motion and ability to move (especially walking) have increased exponentially over the last month. I’m hoping that and that little bit of weight loss mean my metabolism will kick up and I’ll make more progress this fall.

I need to be more active, in general, not just work out more. I’m planning on getting back into gardening this fall. I’d like to plant some rose bushes on my patio and clean up some of the junky stuff that is out there. And I need to do some weeding. But I’m looking for some other non-sedentary activities to take up, as well. I like crafting, but it’s pretty darned sedentary. Reading and movies are, as well. I’ll think of something.

    PSA: I aten't dead yet
I've been running like a mad woman, but what's new I hear you ask! Half of my staff have turned over in the past few months and I've been away from home an average of 2 weeks in four for the past few months, but such is life. It's not going to settle down before the end of the year which is a bit of a bugger.

I raced back to Tokyo last week to do a cleanup on Youngest Son's tiny flat and now have video evidence that should leave him scarred for the rest of his life. I hope! ^_^

What little free time I have, mainly late at night, has been taken up with the shiny that is Japanese anime. And Japanese pretty boys. And Japanese seiyuu. Japanese voice actors making happy, dirty, NC-17 rated audio porn with those beautiful voices. Because the Japanese know how to develop a market better than anyone. Manga? Fantastic. CD drama adaptations of manga, complete with moans and whimpers? Makes me happy. Here's a taste. This is just one track from one of my favourite cds, with Miki Shinichirou um, inspiring Kamiya Hiroshi. Ignore the description; the boys' cohort has reached that age where they're starting to grow up and we had our first wedding this month and another one in November. It makes us, the group of mums of these wonderful boys, proud and happy that they've all grown up so well. Anyway, yes, the track is in Japanese. No, you don't need to know Japanese. Listen to it anyway and you can see why I'm going to sleep with a smile on my face and why my porn vocabulary is expanding. For god's sake, use headphones or make sure you're alone. :D

And now I'm going to run away again. I have to drive 600km tomorrow and I'll be gone from home for a couple of weeks.

Much love to you all! ♥♥♥

    REPOASTED FROM LJ
LOLOL GUYS. MOAR DGM KINK MEME FUN. This time with actual stuff not having been deleted. Oh wow.

Okay, so. AS I'VE MENTIONED BEFORE. There's a D.Gray-man Kink Meme! And to stave off wanky discussion that was popping up in the meme, there's also a DGM Kink Meme Discussion Journal. Because we take our Allen/Kanda/two Exorcists one Innocence porn very seriously.

There's this guy, [info]yakaji, who has just generally been making himself hilarious over on the discussion journal. No wanksplosions exactly, since the maintainer of that journal is incredibly freeze-happy and delete-happy and is kind of a hilarious choice for running a DISCUSSION JOURNAL. But Yakaji has managed to make himself stand out anyway!

First off, there's the thread about whether or not Kanda is an uke, which started off as wanky in an entirely different way but soon devolved into Yakaji making comments like this:

Re earlier discussion thread on uke and seme.

Terms are less an indication of physical location, more an indication of dominance relationship.

Honestly, if your idea of "relationship dynamics" is nothing more or less than who's on the receiving end of the stick.... Well...

    Shikata ga nai, na...

And then when an anon wonders what the fuck he's talking about, due to his random use of fanboy Japanese, he launches into a huge fucking spiel about the SEME/UKE DYNAMIC and the origin of the words. When someone points out that we don't all speak Japanese, he replies with

Maybe I'm expecting too much when I think people who bandy about Japanese words UNDERSTAND them. I didn't think it was that difficult.

with regards to words like. HISSHI. Which isn't a COMMON FANDOM WORD. But he thought we'd be able to pick it up from context, really, why couldn't we do that!?

He gets warned for that, and then a few weeks later, he decides to come back and inform us all that the "Please make these characters 18 or over only!" disclaimer on the kink meme isn't necessary because HE HAS DONE INTERNET RESEARCH! ON AMERICAN LAWS! AND WE ARE ALL TOTALLY SAFE! BECAUSE THE INTERNET IS AMERICA!

Turns out, in the US at least, and probably in most countries, child pornography laws exist almost entirely to prevent the sexual abuse of minors. Or at least, that's how they're on the books - I'm sure there are conservative parties out there who think any depiction of minors in sexual situations is so inherently WRONG that anyone who would read/write such filth should be locked up.

Oh gosh! Ya think? Why, that means we're all completely safe! Especially on good old LIVEJOURNAL! Nothing bad ever happens on LIVEJOURNAL!

That gets frozen right away, obviously.

I also got some lulz from this thread, which basically consists of "Hey, I liked your fic." "NAAAAH, CHECK OUT THIS OTHER, TOTALLY UNRELATED THING I WROTE, ARCHIVED HERE AND HERE, IT'S AWESOME!" We won't even go into the fic itself.

The hand fell lower, lower, past the tangle of curly hair where their bodies met, lower until he found that hard knob of flesh that caused Lenalee so much pleasure. He rested two fingers on top of it, and felt them squeezed hard as he pushed forward inside of her once again.

Lenalee’s breath stopped as she felt the increased pressure. Lavi watched as her eyes tightened and her lips curved into a circle. He raised his hips, drawing himself out of her, and then thrust forward powerfully. The two fingers crunched together, crunched with his pubic bone and hers.

Ha ha ha, I lied. :(

In any case, the DGM kink meme is nearing 5000 comments now and the original creator appears to "not be paying attention" (which may well be the case, but I know discussions have been deleted semi-recently, and I wonder if anyone even tried to contact her). CLEARLY A NEW MEME IS NEEDED! And Yakaji has volunteered to take on the staggering responsibility of posting and maintaining it! OH I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS.

The new meme has no comments yet, but it can be found here. Take a look at that introduction. Christ. DO YOU EVER FUCKING STOP TALKING. Look, I know this is an issue I have too. But honestly.

Fills don't necessarily have to be sexual in nature. Personally, my genre of choice tends to be crackish humor. But if a requester has asked for really hot, steamy, ultrakinkish action, please do your best to make their eyes bleed.

Yeah thanks, I really needed to know what you like, Kinkmaster. Is this a kink meme or a kiddy coaster?

Don't worry about making your characters 18 or anything. Child pornography laws require that actual children be exploited. This is just a friendly ANONYMOUS community of people with... eclectic tastes. Everything is fair play.

HA HA HA, OH OKAY, I GUESS THAT ANSWERS THAT!

    Not dead!
Came back yesterday from my wee getaway. The getaway itself mostly involved shopping in terms of specific things done. But in general it was a few days of "Drive in a direction and stop when something looks interesting." It's the first time I've done something like that and I liked it a lot. I had a bed and breakfast for my base of operations, I had conversations with folks around the breakfast table as well as folks who owned the local businesses that I went to, and all in all it was really fun. I definitely want to do something like it again.

What's nice is that it was a fairly short trip, so it's not like it involved massive prepwork or packing. Also? GPS is your friend. It's really easy to have a plan of "Turn right and then do whatever" when you don't have to worry about finding your way back again. Yay technology, I say.

So for next time the question is where. Which is something I can figure out when the time comes. Though I may go back to that specific B&B again someday too. When I get a chance I'll upload pictures of my room so you can see why. (HUGE BATH OMG)

When I got home the house had not been destroyed, so if Mac and Luna had a party they cleaned up well after. However? I could swear I saw a mouse last night. Possibly I was hallucinating, but even so. A mouse? In a house with two cats? Clearly this poor little thing is part lemming. Haven't seen anything since yesterday, which could mean I was seeing things, could mean Mac and Luna (probably Mac) have already snarfed it, or it's smart enough to lie low until it comes up with a suitable cat bribe. Or it was smart enough to move.

Today was an insanely busy day with prep for a BBQ this Sunday, as well as cleaning out my closets for items to toss/donate (2 big garbage bags of the latter) to make room for the new clothes that I bought. It was also a day of approving of my choice to come back on a Thursday, so that it felt like having a 3 day weekend at the end of it as well. (It's really all about sleeping in, with me.)

So it's all good on this end, really.

WHY is Gin-san so hot with glasses. I don't have a megane fetish (not a lot of my oricharas have it--I wear them and I don't think they're sexy at all orz), but he's so hot with them. Ah. Perhaps I have a Gin-san fetish. ||orz So that's it... I really do like Gin-san best.

I rewatched the Umibouzu arc again (since I've uh... been rewatching the entire series again.... hahahaha for like, the fifth time I SHOULD BE DOING SOMETHING PRODUCTIVE) and I really do love the Yorozuya. What a dysfunctionally loving family. ♥

In FF4DS, I met up with Leviathan and lost everyone. So Porom and Palom are next woo! I've been only trying to play this at work, but I'm getting caught up in the story again hahahaha. Oh well, Vesperia next week!

You know that Samurai armour book I mentioned a few entries back? Well, I had purchased it from a used bookshop in Houston. I never actually read it--I got it for research for r-23--but when I opened it recently, I noticed a little slip inside the book. Apparently this book was purchased from another used bookshop--in Wisconsin. Poor thing really travelled far. It doesn't really looked very used though, and doesn't quite have yet that old book smell (this edition had been published in '96.) I read through some of the text and was pretty happy to see that they had emcompassed a great deal of Japan's eras--including Edo. The book ends kinda of suddenly and a little omniously though; you can tell the authors were a bit upset by the moderization and Westernization of Japan that caused a lot of this art to be forgotton, sold, or lost. (It did seem kind of tragic that the samurai had to sell their swords and armour for so little during the sword-ban just to get some money.)

Hmhmmhmmmmmm nothing much else to say...

OH YEAH I KEEP MEANING TO ASK THIS
But like, Gin-san's pretty buff for a Jump chara that isn't JoJo.

But like, all he does is eat parfaits, read Jump, and uh... laze around.

SO HOW DOES HE MAINTAIN IT??!!

I mean, at least Hijikata and Zura (who is ... more girly bodied, but whatever), you know... DO THINGS that require some stamina.

... hmmmm... maybe it's all that running away or trying to keep Sadaharu from eating his face. orz

(as an aside, I used the 'eat your face' phrase at work and that got some laughs. D: I guess not everyone knows The Internets.)

    Vesperia in a week!
You know, I honestly never really thought that Gintama was popular? I mean, yeah A-kon's dealer room was inunduated with tons of Gintama merchandise, but I just figured it was cause Bandai was the one doing the sponsorship of the anime. But apparently the series is popular enough to be parodied in another series!

FOR THOSE OF YOU WITH ACCESS TO MY LJ this comment by [info]dusksnowdancer, namely the links at the bottom. They are screenshots from Zetsubou Sensei, which I never got far in because it gave me a headache, but apparently I should've.

Link 1: Names of Gintama characters on the faces on the people in the back.
Link 2: Character is acting like Gin-san
Link 3: Parodying this DVD cover
Link 4: On the chalkboard, "Zura janai! Katsura da!"

Of course, it sounds like the parodies (of a parody XD;) aren't exactly in the spirit of good will orz

In the meantime, Vesperia in a week, Infinite Undiscovery in a month-ish, and apparently now there's a Gensui DS (wut). At least it's not a sRPG.

While killing some time, I was flipping through my old Sam & Max Hit the Road Official Hint Guide and man! Do I miss the days when the hints/walkthroughs for games were actually written like a story. I owned a number of official hint guides from old LucasArts adventure games, and the guides were all written like a journal or story from first person POV, basically narrating the game in a fashion that would allow you to solve it without necessarily stating out and out what to do. Plus, whoever wrote the guides could be pretty entertaining (since the LA adventure games were always a bit quirky). (hahahaha maybe someone should write a guide for the YO quests like that.)

I got a little further at FF4DS since I've been playing it at work. Yang's joined my party now. I'll admit it, I lol'd when I saw that they kept the 'You spoony bard' line despite dressing up the rest of the text in the game hahahaha. I have some complaints about the game, but it's still a nice blast to the past, and they honestly don't make games simple like this anymore. =(

ROO FEELS PRODUCTIVE WHAT SHOULD SHE DO

ps: i never thought that the book i bought a long time ago about the armour and arms of the samurai would be so handy orz

also also I think I convinced Jon to get Death Trance from Netflix. Oh man. It can't be THAT bad. D: I'll admit I'm just curious for the costume designs and the ridiculously stupid action scenes. WHAT PLOT

    Oh Obama, No!
Obama and McCain Both Oppose Gay Marriage, Split on Abortion

Both candidates clearly expressed their belief that marriage should remain an institution available only to heterosexual couples. When asked to specifically define his views on marriage, Obama stated that he believes “that marriage is the union between a man and a woman.” “Now, for me as a Christian, it’s also a sacred union. God’s in the mix,” he added.

Obama said, however, that he would not support a federal constitutional ban on same-sex marriage. Instead, he reaffirmed his belief that regulation of marriage should remain on the state level. In addition, Obama said that he does “believe in civil unions” and feels gay and lesbian couples should share many of the same rights of straight couples.

If you're not going to support the gay community, Obama, we'd like our money back.

    Jackass.

Woo! It looks like syndication is working! That's good news. In the meantime...

Jon said he's gonna do Hasegawa for Oni-con lol. Madao version, of course. I wonder if he's realized he's gonna have to walk around without a shirt? XD; I guess that means I should get started on my Okita costume though. At least I get to wear normal contacts this time, which means I get to SEE things... although at Oni-con, it's not like there's much to see. Course, I STILL don't know if I'll be able to go or how much time I'll get off. XD; Hasegawa and Okita are totally unrelated lol. WE NEED A KAGURA that would totally connect us. orz

Annnndddd I guess since Nameless is in, I better get back to work on cutins hahaha. Finish up misc_NPC_pck1... and somehow get Syn finished too... all before Vesperia comes out.

My mom leaves for Korea for a few months on Thursday. This will be... interesting.

Is it REALLY bad of me that I want to redo my Tybalt doll into Shiroyasha?! Yes, yes I think it is. But I won't lie in that I'm much more attached to my kashmirian characters than r-23 and that definitely includes the dolls, so I wouldn't be hurt if I lost Lij or Tybalt, I think... Probably cause Steph's all but.. uh, dropped it, and I don't love it enough to cultivate the story right now. But we'll see. Currently my interest isn't in working on my dolls, but when it wanes back again, I dunno.

    Not much else to add...
