LJ admin issues
I've seen a few usernames over in the latest LJ wank that I know from here, but rather than risk bannination myself, I decided to keep quiet (especially since lots of people have already brought up points I would have made). But I think it would be a good idea if the mods here clarified whether or not members of the wank communities will get banned for taking part in the er... discussion... regarding LJ's policies. I know lots of us have LJs and therefore may have a stake in this sort of thing, and I know during Strikethrough no one was banned for it, but I just want to make sure.

Edit to clarify because I am not of the smart today: Will people get banned for commenting that post on lj_biz? And in future inevitable LJ wanks about policy?

Um, your cryptic-fu is greater than my knowledge of what's going on. Help?

I was wondering if I wasn't all that clear. What I meant to say is, will people get banned for commenting the LJ biz post where all the current wank is going down?

I think this person is referring to people possible trolling over in the latest post in lj_biz regarding what kind of content is permissible on LJ. Correct me if I am wrong.

Trolling is never OK. If someone is already there and did not come through FW (IE they watch LJ_biz on their own LJ), they are allowed to discuss things as they are already there on their own. The issue is that people shouldn't see a wank here and go in to stir up shit or comment with idiotic things like "LOLZ I'M FROM FANDOMWANK!" If people are stirring up shit, maybe you want to privately email a few specific instances to a FW mod.

I don't think anyone's starting shit, just arguing with LJ about the policy thing. I'm not interested in reporting people, just clarifying for the sake of people who've already commented or might comment.

I don't think any of us are going to spam lj_biz with macros of Snarry and Diet Pepsi.

I'd like to think that commenting on a post that may directly affect our ability to create fannish work won't get us banned from here. I had no idea it was even a risk -- my requests for information/clarification from LJ/6A have absolutely nothing to do with anything I do over here, and everything to do with being concerned about the potential risk of suddenly being ToSsed for no apparent reason.

I don't see why anyone would -- or should. This isn't a normal wank by any stretch. Several people I know got links to discussions and debate on the 6A issue off my journal, and wound up adding their own thoughts to what was going on. This is something which affects fandom as a whole, and all of us individually and collectively, if we write, draw, or read/view fanworks or simply want a clear, concise answer on things. No one should be penalized for that.

Besides, a lot of people have quit reading LJ as much as they used to if they've moved their journaling elsewhere, and hell, I have feeds to Fandom Lounge, Fandom_Wank, and ClairvoyantWank to my IJ, so I'm more likely to find out about new developments from there or GJ's FandomTossed first because I read my IJ flist more often than my LJ one now.

I'm currently a paying consumer of LJ's services.

My commentary and complaints to them is part of a personal business transaction, so no, I don't consider it "trolling the wank" because my conversation with LJ, as childish as it can get, has real life ramifications (as minor as those are, but still ...)

This is territory I don't think F_W needs to keep boundaries on.

Boy I really hope this isn't bannable, because this is not a wank a lot of us can keep ourselves apart from. I personally had to disband an active community because of their new policy.

We've got legitimate questions and sometimes it seems that LJ will only deign to answer them if 5000 of us get together and ask them in the style of a greek chorus.

I also think that this is depressing enough that being able to meta the wank is a bit of relief.

It's kind of hard to figure out if they came in from FW or from other links. There are several people linking to ljbiz from their own journals as well as to FW so it's going to be like the chicken and the egg question. Which came first?
