Question regarding locked content in wank reports:

I know that posting something that was originally locked is a big no-no, and I know that it's okay to cap or c/p text if it starts off public and then gets locked after it's wanked. But as I was working on a wank report, a public community entry I was planning to link to was locked. Can I still cap the now-locked entry and/or copypasta the text, even if it's locked by the time I post it to f_w? (It's freely joinable community, fwiw.) Just want to make sure I'm reading the rules correctly.

My understanding is that if the community is open membership and requires no approval to join, it's fair game.

That's how I interpreted it, too...as long as anyone could read the message without needing individualized approval (either public, or locked to members of a public, no-approval-required community), go ahead.

If it was originally public, it's okay.

It's not okay to post anything that appeared in edit or comment afterwards.

I thought that it was okay to post anything from, for example, fanficrants? (Even if the post started out locked, or was later locked-- including comments made on the locked post.) It's just kind of irritating and inconvenient for people who haven't joined. I think that's the way it's worked in the past; if that's not true, I'd like to know.

That counts as 'public' under the rules.

Thank you!
