    Oh wow
I ordered this cutom skin sized for the Eee this morning, and I just got an email telling me it had been shipped and I should expect it in 2-5 days. Now that's fast!

    Yay Semagic!
With the help of the good folks on JF and IJ, I am now set up to simulpost to my journals from the Eee. For anyone curious, you can find [Unknown LJ tag]'s directions here and here.

Hurray for Semagic, and for the helpful peeps who pointed me in the right direction!

    Oh look, a post.
    1. So, now that Make it Rough is on sale (and excerpted at the Changeling Press blog, if you're curious), I'm doing other things.
Specifically, I'm writing and researching other things. Yes, more than one: I get more writing done when I can switch from project to project.
But one of the things I'm tentatively writing/researching/poking at is another doll-related fic, and the research for that is proving interesting. More interesting than usual. I am venturing into new, uncharted territory--or, at least, territory for which I personally haven't seen a chart--and talking to some new people.
Specifically, I've been communicating with a couple of the folks at CoverDoll. (If you're at work or there are children hanging around your screen, you probably shouldn't click these links). I asked them for input, and a couple have been kind enough to provide some. It's one of the more unusual conversations I've had in a long time. Check it out.

    2. I would dearly love my own page at Fanlore, but I would feel like such an ass writing it up myself. Would anyone like to do a swap? I could give you my info, you could give me yours, and we could write up each others'? I don't know, that would just feel less weird to me.

    3. Regarding flocked posts: I hate when people break flock, but that does remind me: possibly I should post unflocked sometimes. Not that anything I post is of urgent importance or anything, but if every single fandom opinion or burst of squee is locked down, it does make it more difficult for fandom to function, particularly for anyone trying to enter a new fandom. No, I'm not saying the growth in secrecy is any excuse for flock breaking; I'm just saying, it's a human thing for any community to want to talk about stuff, and if you never ever provide anything to talk about, then it's less of a community and more a series of enclaves.
And I have, like a lot of people, fallen into the habit of flocking everything, mostly just because meanspirited stupid gossip disinclines you to participate in communities, but...I don't know, possibly I should flock less.

    Day one with wireless!
Posting from the desktop, because I still can't remember how to set up Semagic to post to multiple journals at the same time so I can do that from the Eee. Please, please, if someone can help... the link I had to a post with info on how was on GJ and I can't get to it.

I think Circe likes me more than I thought. She usually flops around the keyboard on the desktop when I'm using the computer, but when I was on the Eee on the futon she came and sat near me; actually I had all the cats near me, it was nice! There's room for them all on the futon.

And seriously, I gotta say it again, thanks so much, [info]doombuggie! The Eee was your suggestion in the first place, and I could never have set up the router myself.

My bottle of Forever Home from Possets hasn't come yet :( It's lying ignored on some post office truck, I know it.

Oh, and with a little nudging from [info]jennywho, I'm thinking of setting up an Eee community. There's already one, but it's pretty dead and very techie-oriented.

BTW when I asked what people would see in the ice picture I was curious if I was the only one who would see the bovine face. Turns out it maybe wasn't as obvious as I thought, but I wasn't the only! \o/

So today, I thought I had the day from hell today:
    1. Lost $30 metrocard
    2. Got a shitty schedule
    3. Worked for 10 hours in the federal building with no access to internet
    4. I couldn't RP

I got home and find out that LJ might close, except not. I'll be here until LJ is, but in case you want to find me elsewhere Titti at IJ, Titti at JF, Titti at CJ and Titti at Inksome. I also have a MySpace, Facebook, and Vox, oh and one of those Twitter thingise, but they have never been used. Finally you can put all of your links at The Directorium

Then I thought about things that happen the world:
    1. People are dying in Gaza
    2. I've seen about 10 people detained by immigration today, including one of my clients, a woman with 2 US children and a husband, because she had tried to enter in the US back in 1997.
    3. People are losing their jobs

Suddenly my problems don't seem so bad

This is pretty and elegant. And Chinese. Flowing. I wish the audience would save all that clapping for the end though. I mean, I can understand being excited, but still.

Look at those kittens from the Itty Bitty Kitty Committee.

I wanted to write more but I'm busy playing around with animated gifs, so maybe I'll attach an ETA or two later.

ETA: In a complete reversal of the way the things are, it turns out that P!cat makes great icon-sized animations, while D!cat's turn out lousy. I guess stripes just don't do the resizing so well. :P

THIS IS MY HAPPY FACE OMG!
OMG! Guess what? I am totally taking the most awesome class evar this semester. It's my Intellectual & Cultural History Seminar course, and it's on the history of broken families, and I get to use fairy tales as some of my primary sources, and I realised (this is not something new & unique to me) that the modern version of fairy tales is superhero comics, and perhaps Mary Sues, and I am SO HAPPY OMG!!!!!!!

Firefox is being a dayglo orange nailstudded dildo. Dripping with habanero sauce that you can't see cuz it's orange, so next thing you know you're all cut up with nails and burning from the habanero sauce.

Well, maybe not quite that bad, but it's crashing a lot.

Trying out a new anti-malware program (Malwarebytes). Hopefull if I have anything lurking that'll root it out.

I'm so fucking sick I want to kill myself.

When Jon was over, we watched a really interesting Western. Sukiyaki Western Django. Obviously a play on "Spaghetti Western," this movie is a Japanese "remake/prequel/homage" to the original spaghetti western Django. It was honestly visually gorgeous; the sets were vivid and unusual, a mix of ancient Japan and the Western days, but what really got me were the amazing costumes These two reflect a mix of Western and Japanese clothing, and were extremely creative and colorful in their mix of the two cultures.

The movie is from the guy who brought us Zebraman, so it was odd, a little funny, and had some decent action. It's worth a watch (although I still recommend Versus more if you can stand a little over-the-top gore), if nothing else, just to see that the entire movie was in Engrish. (I STILL had to have the subtitles on. XD;)

=_= The next ep of Abyss needs to come out. It looks like from the preview that they actually animated the hidden scene between Van and Guy (which surprised the HELL out of me, since they totally removed Frings and Cecille's little subplot). The anime's still doing okay. I'm a bit disappointed that they seem to have totally dismissed Guy's geekiness when it comes to fontech though. Hopefully, though, the anime will introduce people into actually playing the game and they can get the total experience.

...I just spent waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much at Whole Foods. But I got all the things I wanted! Two bottles of blueberry juice, a carton of blood orange juice, a bottle of green apple Italian soda, a sixpack of root beer, a fourpack of fancy ginger ale, four sausages (one of them buffalo bratwurst!), some potatoes, the chocolate I promised myself, bagels, cream cheese, butter, a fancy cupcake (I'd wanted to try one of theirs for a long time)... and [info]jennywho and I had brunch from the hot bar. They had comfort food and German food; I had jagerschnitzel and German potato salad. OM NOM NOM.

Oh, and before I forget, [info]jennywho (and anyone else who might be interested), here's the Amazon page for the Eee 1000HA. It has all the stats.

Mmmm. I might nap now. I had a pleasant erranding-and-socializing on a chilly (but thankfully so far unrainy) day, and now I have a full belly and a full fridge and it's warm in my apartment

    Up in the AM
I have plans to go to Whole Foods with [info]jennywho today. I'm oddly excited, as if for a much bigger outing. Not sure why. Is it just because I enjoy hanging out with her, or is it a harbinger of something good about to happen? Anyway, I have promised myself three bars of Good Chocolate. Probably lavender, bacon, and jasmine, I know Whole Foods usually has those. Tasty-tasy! And hopefully I will be able to get blueberry juice, and I want bagels and some of the awesome sausage they have.

I'm drinking cola (laced with falernum, yummy) from a cup instead of swigging it from the bottle. How mature of me.

Even if I am using a bendy straw.

I was trying to watch the fansub of Death Note: The Last Name on the Eee but Molly kept getting in the way. No good with subtitles! So I gave up for now. Either she was jealous of the Eee getting attention or she wanted to watch it without me in the way. Perhaps she is a L/Light shipper. Do cats like yaoi?

    More Eee info
Because it's been forever since I signed up with AIM and I forgot the passwored, I had to make a new AIM screenname for the Eee. It's PortableKusu. My YM screennames are the same. So if you see me signed on as PortableKusu, I'm on the Eee.

My spiky backpack is now the Eee bag.

Still too braindead to tag in Amat. I feel kinda guilty since I owe three people tags, but Kusuri-uri is a tricky voice to get right, as [info]hcolleen can vouch.

Not sure where I should post this, if at all.
The romantic tale of NJYoder and TigerWolf -- as seen on sf_drama!

There's no wank yet, but its writer is clearly hoping for one or both principals to notice it. I'd think C_W would be a good choice, but unfortunately, there will be just a little drama when that happens, followed by the story disappearing and the (obvious sock) account being suspended. And yet, because it has two infamous principals, I want to see it spread far and wide.

    Suggestions?

So I finally went and installed Firefox 3, seeing as how they will no longer be doing anymore security updates. And I am pretty sure that pages are now loading much more slowly than my last Firefox 2 install. But I wasn't sure if it was Firefox 3 or my wireless connection (even though my computer says that my wireless signal is strong) so I thought "hey, why don't I download that new browser Google put out? I can see what that's like and then compare the two!" And I did, and used it for all of thirty seconds before it froze on me while I was changing tabs and I had to Ctrl Alt Delete it. And now I can't get rid of the little floaty blue "close" rectangle. NICE ONE GOOGLE Your Scott McCloud comic lied.

On the new Doctor guy-- seeing has how I have never seen in him in anything or heard his name before today I guess I really will have to wait and see, though I will be renting Ruby in the Smoke and DLing Party Animals (and judging by the rate the usual hosting sites are going for me right now I should be done just in time for Smith's time lord debut). I think my favorite reaction post so far has to be one that popped up in my RSS reader talking how they obviously were just looking for a Tennant wannabe and oh boy did they find him, etc. ...based solely on his Confidential interview. Which, unless Smith turns out to have all the range of a crumpled paper airplane, strikes me as more than slightly unfair. I am hoping that his take on the Doctor does turn out to be very different from David's, but we won't know until next year (or perhaps well into the new series, as it took a few episodes for Tennant to settle into his portrayal of the Doctor). Right now, however, my only complaint is that Matt Smith's lack of eyebrows means that Eleven will be impossible for me to draw. I had enough of a hard time when I tried to draw John Simm, for goodness sake

And speaking of drawing: this summer I bought a lead holder, for use in a drafting class. About a month after the class ended I figured out that the lead holder came with a built in sharpener. Today, about five months after I took the class, I figured out how to use that sharpener properly. I am not a competent person, in many matters.

Since everyone is giving their thoughts on Matt Smith... I haven't seen him in anything, so all I can say is, he's a rather pretty infant. 26, wow! I was, like many others, hoping for Paterson Joseph, but I'll certainly give Matt Smith a fair chance. But geez, 26...
