The first step in overcoming an addiction is to acknowledge it. Probably.
True story. Twitter suddenly refused to post my tweet! And I couldn’t access twitter.com! I figured my internet was down, but then it turned out to be just twitter. I was distraught in my inability to tweet about my inability to tweet in general. Or something. So instead I sent some IMs to sep. Then I realised twitter wasn’t down anymore. The whole thing took roughly three minutes.

Shake it for me, Julia! I couldn't sleep last night so I was up ninnying around with Avidemux and Gnome Subtitles. Linux video editing options are slim and not real reliabubble. I just Buffalaxed (mondegreen, soramimi, homophonically translated) the "Oh My God" song from ep. 2 of Winter Sonata (Anime Incarnation). No spoilers whatsoever, just me being lame and silly. Everybody dance! Kam sa hamida for watching.
(and I'm such a fucktard I screwed up the embed. duh.)

Because "it goes without saying" isn't a good enough reason not to say it You're awesome, waywardoctagon. You kick ass in so many ways, and getting into the Company series is only a recent way. It was so much fun being able to finally "Yes! Yes! Totally yes!" with someone over all the Lewis/Joseph-Aziraphale/Crowley parallels, and to snicker at ( tiny tiny spoiler ). I'm looking massively forward to squeeing with you over some of the later stuff. Oh god, Latif in "The Young Master"! Labienus in general in Children of the Company! Much other coolness that I can't even mention yet! We must recruit more *casts thoughtful gaze at zarla* Current Mood: lethargic |

Monday Linkdump Some links I shared on twitter in the last week.
Something else:
If you sat through the boring piece of something 2012, cleolinda’s parody recap almost makes it worth the nearly three hours you lost of your life.
The newest episode of Made Of Fail was recorded this weekend and should appear on their community page soon. It’s a great podcast and you should totally subscribe to it in iTunes. P.S. I appear in episode 21.

So last week I posted about the Archive Of Our Own, which if you missed it is being called AO3 because AOOO sounds like a basset hound. But I didn't really post as a reader. It didn't occur to me because I had just spent several days uploading all of my fanfiction there. (Well, that I still like. I actually do have two Greek mythology fics that I haven't posted there, but the second one is a sequel to the first, which was written in high school and has some gender issues I'm really not proud of.) Anyway, after all that posting, I had kind of expected people to read my fic, but I hadn't actually gotten around to reading their fic. And omg you guys, AO3 is great for fic-reading. At least for me. ( AO3 as a reader. )Anyway. Having said all that, Chapter Seven of Between Here and Now and Forever is posted on: The Archive Of Our OwnFanFiction.NetSkyhawkeLiveJournalIn honor of this, ( more YouTube music links! ) |

Hunh. One big-ass portion of noodles, meat, and Chinese broccoli at a Thai place = four meals for me. Dinner last night, breakfast today, and dinner today, with enough remaining for either breakfast or lunch tomorrow. goddessgoddess, thank T. again for me, would you? And what was the name of that place? It was yummy. Thinking of plugging iDoser and drifting off with some aural opium. The annual Coast to Coast JFK special is on tonight, but the prefeed is some bullshit about intelligent design. Current Mood: sleepyCurrent Music: Coast to Coast |

Honestly, Kakki is the biggest fangirl I've ever seen. LOL why do I always like the dorky seiyuu? Also, omg it's Tager's birthday and the blazblue.jp site has him in an awesome suit. XD; aaaa I'm totally geared for BJD!Jin and Ragna; I've been going through my fabrics and contemplating how to do their outfits. I mean, I HAVE THE BODIES ALREADY??? I could also technically paint Jin too since I have the head and the temporary eyes (since I ordered EDs for them both today) and aaaaaa okay no. Advent Calendar! Also repainting Septunie's poor Robin. WORK AND SLEEP. D: okay sometimes i do kinda wish i was unemployed o-orz i-i feel kinda bad for crow cause he's honestly got a nice look to him and uh lol AXEL IS LIKE THE DOLL EVERYONE LIKES but at least I'm keeping his head and stuff... Will probably keep Axel's body as is (with the lifemark and stuff) and give it to Jin and put Ragna on Crow's body (since I need to change out the neck attachment anyway--I can also tighten Crow's strings) so that way I can do stuff to the right arm to make it all BUREIBURU and shit. aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Now that I looked at the event head from Luts... lol. Why do their event heads always have a weird eye squint? Yet another head to give away though. YAH PAYMENT RECEIVED woo hoo now comes the wait D: |

There's no way around it. I just love Merlin.
I don't know how to describe this week's episode but SQUEEEEE!
I've never been very coherent but this is an all time low. And I don't care. My love and squee aren't rational. They just are *g*
Need more Merlin icons. Also need to make a Waily!Feegle icon. Most of all need to talk normal again.

Cat rang bell. I ate food. Lovely afternoon/evening with goddessgoddess, T., and S. (who turned out to be a cute longhaired fellow in a fetching paisley skirt). We went to Clay Pit for lunch (dodging all the burnt orange turnout on our way downtown); it turned out they have a lunch buffet on Saturdays as well as during the week. That turned out pretty well, they had saag paneer, lamb korma, and vegetable pakora. Stuffed! After that goddessgoddess made her desire for warbat known, so we went to Sarah's. They're always fun to browse; T. got some rose syrup, goddessgoddess got eight warbat, and I caved and got a packet of honeydew shisha and a little vanilla sugar (which was really cheap!). The lady behind the counter was once more super friendly and chatty, joking about how I got goddessgoddess addicted to warbat and how I should eat more. If I hadn't been so massively stuffed I might have snagged a falafel or two, they're so good there! Went back to T.'s for lazy-afternooning. There was checking of emails, Facebook, and the like, and it was learned that I cannot use a nipple mouse. There was sharing of warbat. There was cozy napping and the watching of TV, some current shows I didn't recognize, and the first three episodes of Coupling; I had forgotten how deeply I love that show. And how awesome Susan was in the beginning before she got all domesticated. Eventually dinnertime rolled around. Dinner was chosen with remarkable ease, and we went to a Thai place. I had a Thai iced coffee, which I haven't had in years. S. had one too.Tasty, tasty drinks, those. My entree was a pork and noodle dish, peppery without being actually spicy, that I ate maybe a third of. Yay leftovers! There was also a dessert of some sort that I tried a bite of. Very sweet and sticky. After, Planet K was investigated, and another pipe shop, with discussion of further explorations, but I realized that I was dead on my feet and regretfully said my goodnights. So now I am doing my night-time catching up, getting loved on by Molly, and discussing the awesomeness that is Discworld with waywardoctagon before collapsing into sleep. With a very full belly. S-so guys I kinda want to do a Ragna and Jin BJD set? I'm thinking of stripping Crow down and repainting him to be Jin like as he's got what I feel is Jin's coy look and uh. Well I figure I can just rip off Axel's head and buy a Moon mold and mod it slightly and yay Ragna and.
Guys, this is a bad idea.
edit: l-lol i went ahead and did it o-orz b-bought ED eyes for Jin and Ragna too l-lol I'm pretty proud though, that I managed NOT to buy full-dolls and just recycle what I got.
Also. It came up with Steph about my plans to cosplay Jin and I guess she got over her cosplay burnout and she's like "goddammit why does noel wear such a short skirt" so I suggested Rachel to her.
She then spent the rest of the night looking up Rachel stuffs, so I might actually have my cosplay partner back again.
my god she'd be a fabulous rachel |

slow-mo panda is slow We begin our saga on the fair hills of house_wilson, where the grass grows green and the House/Wilson shippers occasionally throw shit fits over whether or not David Shore is dicking around House/Wilson shippers. One day, this (relatively) peaceful comm is visited by slow_mo_panda, who had arrived to bring to everyone her thoughts on yaoi The Contract, a love-it or hate-it extreme-whump fic amongst House fandom. The masses do not react well. (And euclase wins the "most over-the-top reaction to criticism" award for this week.) Having been thrown out by her ears, slow_mo_panda once again continued her travels, landing on the shores of fanficrants, where she hoped to be greeted with open arms and kind words telling her how everyone else is a bunch of mean bitches. Alas, she had no luck on that front, either. After a number of negative comments, she deleted that post and was banninated from fanficrants. And there was much rejoicing. Hearing the commotion, ffrantsrants and sf_drama arrived on the scene so that they could point and laugh. However, this is not the end of our story. slow_mo_panda, apparently having not learned her lesson yet, appeared once again, this time in ffrantsrants in order to talk about how oppressed she is. Or something. ETA: Now locked down, but here's a text-version: ( also long )ETA2: And now doire brings the screencaps. Caps courtesy of xayeidemon. ETA: Removed links to locked fanficrants content. ETA2: Apparently, our friend has left a review on ff.net on the original fic: ( cut for length )ETA3: Now a tl;dr post in her personal journal. Man, she really doesn't know when to stop, does she? |

It's Saturday, right? I just finished Unseen Academicals. I love Pepe so very hard. I have lunch plans with goddessgoddess, T., and their friend S. This is probably a good thing, as my food intake the past few days has consisted of a can of not at all good soup. A meal I can chew would be nice. Am wearing The Bra That Fits. At present there is only one. I have taken steps to remedy this. It is a front-hook. It kind of has to be. There are eight rows of hooks. Also wearing The Jeans That Fit, courtesy of hcolleen, and a not bad tshirt courtesy of some thrift shop somewhere. Smelly of the day as yet to be decided. I'm thinking Hungry Ghost Moon. Why did nobody tell me that they are squirting the kids with water on Modern Family? We have been doing that for years! (I love Modern Family so much.)
But seriously, it seems like statistically Barney from HIMYM should have an STD by now. At least herpes. |

Guys, I totally forgot I had this picture of this INCREDIBLE Persona 2 cosplay of some of the Personae, from Akon XIII. (That's in 2002!) I thought some of you might enjoy it. I wish digital technology was around back then (instead of me relying on disposable cameras) cause HOLY SHITTTTTTTT You know, looking at the stuff I had, there seemed to be a lot more variety in things people cosplayed? I dunno, maybe I'm just not hip with the new things people are into, but you didn't run around into clones that often.... and just looking at the series, so many different series were represented... |

Meme time of Doom... From virginia_bell: Leave me a comment saying "Resistance is Futile" and I will respond by asking you five questions that satisfy my curiosity. Update your journal with the answers to the questions, including this in the post.
1. When did you realise definitively that science was what you wanted to study? There was no realisation involved. I was already taking the scientific path in High School, so I figured, what the hell, let's just continue this way. The problem was that I liked everything at school. Science was something I knew would please my parents, so I just went along with it. To this day, I'm still not sure if it was the right decision (or non-decision, really). I like research, I like science and I can get excited about projects, but so far I don't think I've found the place where I would most like to do it. 2. Two Harry Potter characters: one to accompany to you a desert island, the other to push off a cliff. Who are they? I wouldn't mind pushing Draco or Dudley off a cliff. I have a special place in my heart for bullies - the place where I put people I absolutely loathe. Who would I take with me to a desert island? Ron would be a good choice, or Dumbledore. I think both would be fun to be with (maybe they're the same person! Oh, nevermind, J.K.R. nixed that idea ages ago...) 3. What is your favourite flavour of ice cream? If there ever was an important question, this is it. Ice cream is serious business, and of course I've spent a lot of time thinking about my favourite flavour (by the way, Virginia, way to show off that you're in Oxford now. Smooth...). I can therefore assert with absolute confidence that the only way to eat ice cream is with two flavours: mint and chocolate. And if you're ever in Pest, go to Chez Gerbeaud. They make the waffle for the cone in front of you and it's heavenly. 4. I recall that you posted a lot of about U.S. politics for a time, so, at the risk of inspiring a rant or two, do you think that Sarah Palin will run for president in 2012? Right now, I'm a little burnt out on Sarah Palin. I've started cyber stalking Le Monde, lately, so now I reserve all my hatred for Nicolas Sarkozy and his ilk. Sarah Palin? I'm sure she would like to run, but I don't think that she will make it past the primaries. I think the Republican strategy is to have a serious paternalistic figure as the official candidate to reassure moderates, but to allow all kinds of crazies in the primaries in order to attract the crazypants. That way, they can cover the bases from Right Wing crazy to paternalistic and moderate without having to resort to candidates with outright Multiple Personality Disorder. There is no way in hell they will let Sarah Palin run, unless the Democrats promise to nominate Mike Gravel on their side. 5. If you could elope with one fictional character, who would it be? It's not the idea of elopement I have a problem with. I'm all for it. Just the idea of organizing a wedding makes me itch to join a convent. But most fictional characters I have a crush on are madly in love with someone equally fictional and I quite them that way. But there are a number of quite sexy, single characters out there who I wouldn't mind going for a drink with and maybe, if things go well, elope with: Colonel Fitzwilliam, Sirius Black, Wallace Fennel, Weevil, Lord Vetinari, any character ever played by Johnny Depp... Does that cover the question? |
