Randomness ahoy!
Not actually FW icons, but I figured you guys might appreciate them anyway.

I have this hilarious book of dubious English for Arabic speakers. Yesterday, I posted some of my favorite phrases, and a couple people suggested they should be icons.

I concurred.

Previews:

The text and punctuation are exactly the same as they appear in the book, except I accidentally left out an "of" in the first Aya icon. And I tell you, the pain somewhere deep inside of my soul stirs again and again because of it.

If I could love a batch of 100x100 pixels any more, there'd be a fetish for it.

Ahahaha, the Fujimiya Aya ones are beautiful. So is the first "See how I befriend you!" and... well. All of them, really. I'll probably take a few (with credit of course)- thanks!

I went over to your LJ and just about peed myself laughing. As it was, I ended up making these horrible wheezing noises, because I couldn't catch my breath. Which was, incidentally, just what I needed (so thanks) ♥

Oh man, decisions, decisions! Cracking up doesn't help, neither does the fact I'd just paid a visit to engrish.com to clean my eyes after the Nazi boobs and dingdongs post.

"Don't contradict him; otherwise he will go up in the air" begs to be iconed.

Does butt=boat in this case? My multi-Arab ex-boyfriend asked me why one of our co-workers called some of our co-workers "butt people" and I was so lost (and WTF?ing), especially when he said, "Only the rich can afford the butts!"

That actually makes a lot of sense. I was assuming it was meant to be bus, but. Yeah.

(Gosh, it would be helpful if I turned on comment notifications every once in a while.)

I wonder if dialect and location is a factor in "butt" being "bus" or "boat" as well as phonology in the cases of the phrasebook's author and the old boyfriend. XBF (who was Lebanese, Jordanian, another Middle Easterner that I can't remember and Swedish) pronounced "coat" a lot like "cut".

If the phrasebook was translated circularly Arabic-another language-English (i.e. German as ari commented) that'd throw things out of whack.

Oh lord, I laughed so hard I made little squeaking noises. I'm going to take the "He is my bosom friend" for my LJ and the first "Damn the Sea!!" for my JF. Will credit. These are glorious.

That first "Damn the sea!" icon made me laugh until I wept.

Snagging that and the sad telephone. And the first befriending icon. And the sad butt statue.
