This wasn't in memories or in the Wiki -- and actually, I'm not sure whether this would have been FW or OTFW. It dealt with an English community where Jamie "Naked Chef" Oliver was trying to get his "healthier school lunches" program going, but a couple of mothers were causing problems because they were showing up at the school and going on fast food runs for the kids because they didn't like that the kids were being given "posh food" like shepherd's pie and such.

It was sometime within the past year; anyone remember this?

I remember which one you're talking about, actually, but I'm not sure where to find it.

While I don't remember that. POSH? It's British frickin' meatloaf (lamb I grant you but honestly >_<)
*waits to read the culinary wank*

For realz. I'm trying to think of something less "posh" than shepherd's pie, and all I'm coming up with is "gruel" and "raw turnips."

I haven't been able to find the "posh" phrase, but there's a bunch of articles from about the same time (probably the ones that started the wank). It looks like it was in one community and came down to two parents, and there was a whole flurry of press about this.

This seems to be one of the more sensational articles on the subject. I'm looking for the wank, though, because someone had a link to an article where I definitely remember one of the mothers referring to the stuff served in schools as "posh"; here they mostly refer to it as "low fat rubbish".

I remember watching the programme and one of the mothers demanding "proper" food (ie junk food) for her kid.

Dirt, maybe? Oh! If I try to eat this old sock on my floor, that might be less posh.

(I apparently have two banana-related icons, but this one seemed more posh-minded)

Sooo, anything specific that your posh icon is referencing?

I offer my most humble thanks, kindest sir/lady/person outside the societal construct of gender binary.

They make shepherd's pie out of lamb?

I remember shepherd's pie day in my Canadian high school cafeteria was always a big deal. Whee, MEAT!

Pizza day, however, was called fun day, because we derived a kind of morbid amusement from seeing whose pizza had the most grease by squeezing it out into a bowl.

I'm sure that somewhere in there, you'll be able to find proper English.

Fuck, I remember this one, even though I can't find the wank report either. They were taking orders through the playground fence, weren't they?

It's probably in otf_wank. I don't think anyone ever finished organizing its memories.

Yay! Thank you!

(Especially since I now see that back then someone asked me for a recipe, and I never delivered -- oops, I need to make good on that.)
