I'm looking for a a picture of the seed boob that caused a huge outcry a few years ago. I think it originated on PostSecret? Thanks!

The lotus boob? You can find a picture of it at Snopes. (That's a link to the page debunking the myth, not the main page.) In deference to the squeamish among us, I'll let you decide if that's the right picture or not, instead of pasting a copy in the comment and potentially grossing people out. ^_^

That's it, thanks! I kept thinking it was pomegranate and getting no results. Now, off to disturb my boyfriend.

Want a bonus Venus flytrap-esque cootch to really freak him out with? You can find one here. Yes, knowing where to find disturbing mash-up pics of plants and the female body is my job now. Or something.

That pic's a lot older that PS, man. someone sent it to me back in 98, and I think that was what sparked my loathing of lotus pods.

I'd be willing to bet that when they first set up sending images over the internet, the lotusboob was already there. Waiting.

And man, ever since I read someone suggesting that it was part of a greater loathing of organically-holed objects (suggestive of insect infestation or some such), everything like that grosses me out now. Spongy substances? Lotus pod? Wasp nest? Hgggggg.

Yes! It's called trypophobia. Lotus pods are the worst for me, but I think mine is more related to round things half-embedded in other things than in the holes themselves (though those are creepy too.) I had a dream once where I had one of those decorative half-marbles in my arm, with the top poking out a little, and it STILL skeeves me out.

The Surinam toad is quite possibly the most repulsive organism on this planet.

I didn't have trypophobia until somebody sent me a picture of a botfly larvae-infested squirrel. Now I can't look at anything even remotely resembling such things, including those lotus pods and surinam toads and all of that shit.

I hate that person, forever. D:

... Just saying, but typing "fear of holes" into Google gets you pictures of lotus pods and sponges. And now I feel mildly nauseated, thx google!

Apparently, it is rare but actually possible to have larvae infested breasts. -.-

I forgot the word "snopes" so just googled egg infested boob, and got an about.com site http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/bl_breast_larvae.htm which has a legit video. Dunno if the snopes site has it, but I'm not looking, because I have a horrible fascination with the lotus boob - the kind where I am completely squicked and erggggg to look at it, but I can't look away. So I try not to look in the first place!

Because I'm brave, and a doctor's brat, I watched it for everyone. You're probably best off avoiding it, unless you have an unhealthy interest in maggots or tropical diseases. It's pretty graphic, though not bloody.

Its not a botfly is it? I watched a video taken from a British TV show where a woman had one under her scalp.

I was okay until the damn thing moved.

They (yes, multiples) don't squirm on camera so much, it's when you realize (ugh, I hate to even write this it's going to squick people so badly) that they're retreating down their little tunnels that it gets pretty disgusting.

Ah, Lotus Boob. I've been getting that confused with Lotus Root for years.

On the plus side, I've never been fooled by Lotus Boob. On the minus side, I should really warn for content when I make a stir fry. *guilty look*

Heh, I was never fooled, either! My grandmother had one of those fancy permanent flower-arrangement-centrepiece things on her table when I was a kid, and it included lotus pods. Being a kid, I thought they were weird and awesome and looked like an alien plant, so I never forgot them... and many years later, upon encountering Lotus Boob, I knew instantly what it had been inspired by!

(Thanks, grandma!)

I had forgotten about lotus boob until I saw this post. So why did I read the comments? Why???

There must be a jurisimprudence law about this phenomenon, right?
