Fill in the blanks!
Oh, this is one of THOSE threads that just had me laughing. I want to buy the OPs friend a drink.

almah80 starts us off with a little backstory about how her friend read one of the HP books. When asked who she thought would end up together, the friend said R/Hr. Rather than, you know, respect her opinion, almah80 has a fit about "WHERE'S THE CREAM FILLING PROOF!"

The friend's response is simply, "Oh, you're one of those..." and thus where the wanking starts.

almah80
A while ago my friend was reading one of the HP books and I asked her who she thought was gonna end up together, and lo and behold she said HR\R. Obvioulsy I was outraged because I am an avid H\Hr shipper and I told her so but she said it was obvious it was gonna be Hr\R and then I said what kind of proof did she have other than the famous " they have sexual tension" statement, then she didn't know what else to say and then I began with every single form of proof I had H\Hr was gonna end up together and that left her speechless until she said "Oh you one of THOSE" and then I felt even more outraged, what did she mean Im one of "those", I was very much annoyed with her. I don't understand, when I read the books i always thought it would be H\Hr, it makes sense to me, obvioulsy everyone in this site as well. and I have another friend who has never read the books but also belives that H\Hr should be together. I know this post was probably useless and full of my ranting but I just wanted to get that out in the open..

I get the feeling that when she said "One of THOSE" she was referring to those bat-shit crazy fans who berate you for having a different opinion about something as minute and simplistic as shipping. But then again, maybe I'm just not reading between the lines, looking for the supa sekrit clus!

snoopy__pie
yeah just let it go. Don't worry about it. She just meant that you are delusional at best and honestly if being delusional means I value mature, respectful and romantic interactions between two people then so be it...I am delusional.

If it makes them (herons) feel better to call our ship delusional then thats okay, I understand that they are probably insecure about their own ship. Its okay I undersatnd...poor poor Herons.

Lissy (referring to some obscure Star Trek reference a few posts prior)
As someone who was in Trek Fandom back when "Trekkie" meant the lunatic fringe, and most Star Trek Fans insisted on being called Trekkers. The lowest life form was Kirkers because most people would never admit it if they liked Kirk, then you had all the idiots who wore Star Trek Uniforms when they WERE NOT at a Convention, and screamed themselves hoarse if they saw any of the actors. Aside from the gang in Enterprise, I have met most everyone who was anyone but Gene Roddenberry, "The Great Bird of the Galaxy," himself. I also was into Star Wars, and met like David Prowse and Jeremy Bulloch who played Boba Fett. I've got pictures of David Prowse running around with a Yoda Hat on. I think I got out of Star Wars right around the time that they started fighting over whom was better. Then Enterprise crawled out of the muck, and I lost interest in Star Trek as well. But under truly weird, I not only remember "Darkover" Famdom, but used to write Darkover Fanfiction.

I'm not really sure why she bolds ENTERPRISE! Maybe to show her hatred for it? (Really, was it that bad? If there's anyone I hated it was Deep Space 9. They never had puppies.)

princessoftheworld
I think when people resort to name-calling it really shows that they are intimidated. From what you said, it sounded like you were spouting off a boat load of info, and she probably was overwhelmed. I just find it funny that R/Hr shippers still resort to the petty name-calling.

If you ask me...it's because they are scared. Yeah, JK did her little interview and wrote a little embrace for R/Hr at the end of HBP, so what? R/Hr still aren't together, and if they do, who says that they will stay together? There is still a ton of uncertainty, but to cover it, the shippers could use brash statements, wounding their opponents to change the subject.

Yeah, because Harmonians have never been rude to the opposition or called them illiterate fucker, what?

hexonjellybeans12
Insecure? Them? Nah....... Just because we're one of the most destructive ships in the Potter verse...... if H/Hr happens, that breaks up four or five of the most popular ships out there (namely two: R/Hr, H/G). We're quite a demoloshing ship. Isn't it great?

Hey, I like putting pain and suffering on others as much as the next girl, but I'd rather it be physical pain than non-existent psychological pain.

So fill in the blanks kids! Harmonians are one of those ____________.

So, was Lissy's point that she didn't mind being called crazy because she was used to it, or did it vanish somewhere in her recounting of her great adventures as a Star Trek/Star Wars fan?

Yeah, um. Okay. So is the point that people who don't know what's g oing on in canon ship H/Hr?

I see that even when Lissy is not making insane comparisons, she still refuses to make sense. Good to know.

So H/Hr breaks up R/Hr and H/G. Okay. H/R does this as well. R/Hr breaks up H/Hr and H/L. So?

Stop it with Ron and Hermione only have sexual tension! They have that, but they are also friends! Gah gah. That they want to defend their ship, it's fine, but to insist with these obviously false facts is just fucking annoying.

That's why we don't like you, because I surely don't care if you ship Harry/Hermione or Snape/Draco but this shit is just pure wanking.

If I read that retina-scorchingly long run-on sentence correctly, almah80's friend actually never called her a name; she stopped at "one of those".
Or is "those" the latest epithet for Harmonians?

P.S.: Almah, there is no punctuation famine; your keyboard will not run out of commas, periods, or even semicolons. It's alright to use them.

Okay, I know this has absolutely nothing to do with this particular wank, but I need a second opinion and of course I came to the Cornfield. You know how a lot of Harmonians flip a shit when Harry and Ginny break it off in HBP? And how she's a hussy/tramp/whore/ho/bicycle for not fighting him about it (of course, they totally ignored the part where Harry says that they understand each other completely and he knows that she won't argue with him) and they say that Ginny says, "Maybe that's why I liked you so much"?

Yeah, I just read my copy, and it definitely says, "Maybe that's why I like you so much."

Is this obviously just another case of Harmoanian misreading? I know there are many.

and I have another friend who has never read the books but also belives that H\Hr should be together.

Wow. I hate any arguments that include anything along these lines. If they never read the books, then their opinion isn't valid. Besides, they were probably agreeing with you so you'd stop proselytizing.

What I really don't get is when they use this as 'proof' of H/Hr. It's like they want us to think that even people who haven't read HP can see H/Hr because it's so obvious. But they're also so very proud of the fact that H/Hr isn't the obvious ship, so it doesn't make any sense to promote non-readers seeing H/Hr. (Of course, non-readers see Hero and most prominent female = obvious relationship, but that's not the point)

Oh, and my five-year-old niece ships H/G, and she's never read the books SO THERE! *sticks out tongue*

if H/Hr happens, that breaks up four or five of the most popular ships out there

Okay
1. H/G
2. R/Hr
3. N/L because Luna has to be with Ron and Neville with Ginny?
4. Molly/Arthur because they'll be so devastated Ginny didn't land Harry they'll break up?
5. Remus/Tonks or Remus/Sirius (pick your poison) because...Remus will be too busy taking care of Harry and Hermione's perfect children to worry about his own life?

P.S. demoloshing is not a word

And what the hell is up with Lissy's signature? What does this mean?

I just think it is that the Missionaries need to convert as many of the delusional, unwashed, Godless Heathen as possible for "Big Man God and Mother Jesus Christ" so that they, the Heathen, do not fall off the Earth and burn in everlasting Hellfire. Yawn! I thought putting people to "The Question" to save their souls from the fires of Hades is so ten minutes ago. But what do I know? Cotton Matter must still have followers even in this "enlightened" age.

And Lissy/Lysette has a habit of bolding things. Over at FAP every time she makes a reference to a movie or a tv show she bolds it. It's one of the things that drives me NUTS about her. I don't know if she does it to make herself look smart because of all her pop culture knowledge, but it makes me crazy.

I had a little trouble understanding some of the whatthefuckery in this post, so I went to Babelfish and did a silly to sane translation.

-----
almah80: So, now that you've read one of the Harry Potter books, who do you think is going to hook up (and you'd better say Harry/Hermione and validate my ship, bitch).

Friend: Judging by all the anvil-sized hints, it looks like Ron and Hermione.

almah80: OH NOEZ YOU DINT! OMG WTF! WHY?!!1! WHY?!!!?!!

Frind: Um, well, there were these anvil-sized hints...

amah80: OMG NOEZ!! I WILL DEFEAT YOUR EARTH-LOGIC BY HALF-ASSEDLY REGURGITATING BITS AND PIECES OF THE MANY LENGTHY HARMONIAN ESSAYS THAT I DON'T REALLY UNDERSTAND BUT THAT MAKE ME FEEL ALL SMART AND SUPERIOR!!

Friend (disgusted): You're one of those whackjobs that get obsessed over stupid shit like this, aren't you?

amah80: OMG ITZ TRU, OMG!! OPPRESSION OF THE HARMONIANS EVERWHERE!!! You BITCH!

amah80's fellow Harmonians: She's just jellus! All the ChocoHerons are jellus and fear our l33t shipping skillz!

Lissy: I am a very experienced fan. Yes, I am. I have fanned much, and so I know everything there is and was to know about fanning ever. That has nothing to do with this conversation, but I feel compelled to reiterate my expertise in fanning every chance I get because for some reason I believe my lengthy and varied experiences of fandom somehow give my personal viewpoints the weight of authority and truth.

New Harmonian thread ten days from now: Why, oh why, cruel world, are we mocked so? We don't understand!

if H/Hr happens, that breaks up four or five of the most popular ships out there

I suppose H/Hr is incompatible with SS/HG, HP/DM, HG/DM, SS/HP, and H/R. That's five popular ships broken up right there. If you interpret "breaks up" as "can't both be consistent with canon at the same point in canon time". But, um, none of those other ships are especially canonical anyway, and that shortcoming doesn't seem to cause their shippers much concern...

SEE? SEE??! IT'S SO OBVIOUS THAT HARRY AND HERMIONE ARE MEANT FOR EACH OTHER THAT EVEN PEOPLE WHO NEVER READ THE BOOKS CAN SEE THAT!!!111shiftone1!!111

I think when people resort to name-calling it really shows that they are intimidated.

*notes the irony* Also, since when is "those" considered name-calling? True, it was meant to be depreciative, but it's not the same as calling someone a moron, a whore, illiterate... what was I saying?
