Rowling fate as a writer depends solely on her writing Harmony in HP 7. Again.
Rhosyn is not featured in as many wank reports as some of her um… other shipmates. Perhaps it is an oversight. Her latest contribution is a thing of beauty, if for nothing more than a sheer concentration of batshit per sentence. No worries, I am not sending you to read entire thread, one post is all. Here:

http://www.harmonyforever.com/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=804&view=findpost&p=1853024

Some jewels:

“So, I'm there to see if the author can pull it off in book 7. If she does she'll cement her place in writing history. Lit teachers will use her work as a more readable (for 21st century kids) example of character development than novels like Emma. If she doesn't pull off the hero's relationship properly, it'll become another "kid series" that folks in future will read, but that's all it will be.”

“…if Aragorn and Arwen had not married in the end, would it have been quite the same? No, it'd be another guy-war-flick, couched in mythic trappings.”

And after that she demands a payoff from JKR. Scratch that, she demands P A Y O F F..

Err… yeah. I’ve got nothing.

Romance may or may not be the center of HP. I would argue that if it isn't the absolute center, it still has to be quite important

Funny, I thought the Fellowship was all for 'Preserving Middle-earth from Sauron's power' rather than just making sure Aragorn got Arwen.

And here I was thinking that it was a book written by some guy named Tolkien about destroying an evil all powerful ring to save the world, and not just a movie trilogy by Peter Jackson with hawt elves played by Hugo Weaving and Orlando Bloom. Where have I been?

Is she HONESTLY getting off on the idea that the Arwen/Aragorn relationship is what makes LOTR complete and everything hunky dorey in Middle Earth because her ship sailed?

One of the many things that always boggles me about the insane Harmoanians is that they decry the Harry/Ginny relationship as "coming out of nowhere" and say, "But Hermione's been here all along, that means Harry will fall for her!" But... these are teenagers. Yes, teenagers can and do spontaneously develop crushes in the blink of an eye! Their hormones are raging. When I was in high school, I didn't like guys based on years and years of subtle build-up in our platonic relationships. I liked them because WHAM that boy was on crutches and he was cute and funny and awwww his poor leg! or POW wow, he sure has a gorgeous smile or BOOM hey, I've known this guy a few years, suddenly I've realized he's rather attractive! While of course you can develop rich and subtle relationships as a teenager, it's still insanely common to suddenly like a near-stranger (like Cho) or to look at someone you've known for a while in a new light (Ginny). Which means it's perfectly reasonable to write H/Hr in fanfic along those lines.... But because it was Harry/Ginny in the books, suddenly it's impossible for teenagers to ever realize suddenly and very strongly that they like somebody. After all, it's not like teens are often confused about their emotions or have mood swings or very strong feelings, right?

Teenagers: they're like Vulcans, in a way.

Huh, I was unaware all these lonely, cold years that "Emma" was the summit of all character development, or that Tolkien wrote such good romance scenes...

I didn't read "Lord of the Rings" for the shippy-ness, mainly because there wasn't much, and what was there was stuffy, stilted, and entirely-hackneyed. Unlike the exciting adventure scenes and so forth.

If she does she'll cement her place in writing history.

Well, she already has but not in a "writerly" sense, I suppose. But why should she? Why do the books have to be the Greatest Things Ever Writ? Jeez, this is like the fans who for some reason can't admit to liking something as plebeian as a kiddy book (ew!) or as standard as a hero quest (ew again!) so they have to work themselves in knots and come up with complicated theories. Then they bash JKR because of course the problem wasn't with their expectations or reading unskills.

Yeah, I've said this before in the recent Vance wank, but I'll say it again:

Let me tell you what would REALLY be a twist. Voldemort strikes Harry down and turns to celebrate his victory with the Death Eaters, but then, suddenly, Harry regenerates and turns into David Tennant, who then proceeds to use his sonic screwdriver to destroy Voldemort's last horcrux and ph33r the Dark Lord and his followers into the fiery depths of hell from whence they came.

Anyhow, I was totally into LotR for my threesome pairing of Aragorn/Legolas/Gimli anyway.

On a serious note, I seriously doubt that a woman who quite possibly saved thousands from illiteracy will be forgotten so easily, not to mention that she attracts thousands of fans just to hear her read, and she is the author of a series of books that have spawned the largest collection of fanfic on FanFiction.net. More, in fact, than the entire amount of fanfic for other categories COMBINED. And I'm not even going to begin to state just how much fucking PUBLICITY the books (and movies) get.

Oh yes, this is truly the mark of a series of books which will be forgotten as just another "kids series". Fuck, what is wrong with these people?

It's so rare I get into a Wank Report within the first 100 comments. Do I get a special prize?

Right. Glad to have sorted that out.

Brown's response just wins.

Here, here, Rhosyn! I agree completely! I'm 100% positive for a H/Hr ending. Only the surface story of HBP does not match with the rest of the books, but the undercurrent story - does!

Then he takes a potshot at Sienna and anybody else who listened to the Interview...of DOOM.

Well, instinct told me that the series would end with Dumbledore and Voldemort riding off into the sunset on Sirius Black's motorcycle. That bitch Rowling better deliver.

“…if Aragorn and Arwen had not married in the end, would it have been quite the same? No, it'd be another guy-war-flick, couched in mythic trappings.”

Because really, that's the whole point of Lord of the Rings. It's not at all about Frodo and the Ring and the hobbits learning to defend themselves and the death of the Third Age.

It's all about whether or not Aragorn gets the trophy bride, who doesn't really have that much to do with anything in the actual story. I'd think as an H/Hr person, she'd be all about the Aragorn/Eowyn! (As Eowyn has more of an actual role.)

The hell...?

Tolkien is cemented by matching a Fellowship member with a non-speaking character, so Rowling should match Harry with one of his main sidekicks?

Huh, and here I was thinking that Aragorn and Arwen getting together really didn't matter to the overall plot of the book...

Plus, isn't Arwen the complete opposite of Hermione? Its been years since I read LotR, so I can't remember.

Let me see if I've got this right. The romance of Aragorn/Arwen made LOTR the literary masterpiece that it is. Similarly only Harry/Hermione can elevate HP to that lofty plane. Never mind all those pesky details like good vs. evil, hero's journey, friendship, etc. That's just filler. The real story is ALWAYS in the romance.

And have no fear - Harry will get his P A Y O F F. Some young girl with red hair and freckles. . . What was her name again?

And this is why Aragorn was played by Richard Gere and Arwen by Julia Roberts.
