Please Stop Overanalyzing Things OR Man, I'm Glad You're Not an Ex
We're about due for another loss of collective IQ points, right? We are? Well, in that case, check out What canon points make you worry that R/Hm could really happen?

srikant61: I alw ays thought that the love interest of the main character should be sealed firstand not his best friend. JKR did say that we should have worked out who does hermione like as friend Harry or ron?Why should the main character like Harry fall for a secondary character like Ginny when all he needs is Hermione., this woman who has literally breathed and lived for harry.

Nathaniel: [paraphrased for tl;dr's sake] I still believe canon points to H/Hr, but JKR made it apparent in the IoD that it's OBHWF. She was being pretty damn blunt about it. Stop reading so far into things and redefining words, you delusional fucktards.

Vanceone: I don't think I'd go that far, Nathaniel. She wasn't as blunt as she could have been--she has never sunk H/Hr. She's never said "H/Hr won't happen." Indeed, she does seem to be trying to point like a magician--"nothing up my sleeve with H/hr... it's OBWHF all the way!"
But I think she went too far... and I don't know. Would she change her story to OBHWF so she can say she never lied in the interviews? She might.

SweetHarmony: 1. first this book is not about Ron and The HOw he will get Laid or get date.
2. This is story of one boy's journey to life..and everything that in it..that will make "Harry' survive.
3. Having friendship, bravely and Love is all he needed to live and Hermione will gave him that to win over war of Voldy and his groon.

brown: I looked up the word "know" in the dictionary - one of the definitions is "to have fixed in the mind". Let's rewrite JKR's sentence: We now have it fixed in our minds that it's R/Hr. Let me just add to that thought, Harry knew it was Snape trying to steal the stone. Just because something is believed to be true, doesn't make it the truth.

Hermione Potter: Does JKR honestly believe that Hermione should fall for an nincompoop such as Ron? Are we to understand that perhaps Ron was showing another side of himself to Hermione off page? If not, then I just don't understand the attraction. Maybe it's me, but I just find Ron as physically unattractive with a demeanor and personality to match. I picture the actors as the characters, and I think Rupert just isn't handsome. Not one bit. (I did warn you all I was going to be shallow!)

See Salamon2's verbal diarrhea on how poor people are driven insane when they feel they owe someone a debt because they've acted like an asshole and this insanity causes them to ... act like an asshole some more. Therefore, R/Hr SUCKS! Thank you.

srikant61: I don't want to make a personal attack on the author but surely she must have learnt something out of her first relationship. I believe that it had also ended on a fight. I had expected a bit more maturity from the author concerning relationships about her characters . I thought she was writing for kids to learn the message of love, not for normal adults like us to get repulsed by reading the R/Hr in the books.

Nathaniel:Book 6 showed me personally why Ron and Hermione are not suited. It showed me why they simply can not work, even for a day. It showed me why any attempt at a romantic relationship Ron and Hermione would lead to an explosion between the two of them that would make Hiroshima look like a hand-made soda-bottle bomb (I hope I did not offend anybody with that reference).

srikant61: Also one thing why did Ron break his figurine of Krum that he had got at the world cup?
Was he jealous about Kum dating Hermione?
My reasons are that he regarded Krum as his hero and was betrayed by him feeling that the guy was not talking to him but talking to his other best friend, bookworm hermione.
Similarly dumbledore was harry's hero of sorts But he was extremely angry and lost faith in him after the events of year 5 as well as the DoM.

I would like to hear your opinions on Dumbledore/Harry yaoi this subject.

I alw ays thought that the love interest of the main character should be sealed firstand not his best friend.

It was. Have you missed the entire plot of CoS? Because that's some pretty heavy foreshadowing.

JKR did say that we should have worked out who does hermione like as friend Harry or ron?Why should the main character like Harry fall for a secondary character like Ginny when all he needs is Hermione., this woman who has literally breathed and lived for harry.

Except Ginny is no longer a secondary character. And I suppose you also think Hermione is some big feminist icon, too?

1. first this book is not about Ron and The HOw he will get Laid or get date.

True. IT IS NOT ABOUT HOW HARRY WILL GET LAID OR DATE EITHER! Or Hermione, for that matter.

2. This is story of one boy's journey to life..and everything that in it..that will make "Harry' survive.

And this has what to do with Harry/Hermione?

3. Having friendship, bravely and Love is all he needed to live and Hermione will gave him that to win over war of Voldy and his groon.

Ron? Who needs Ron?

Book 6 showed me personally why Ron and Hermione are not suited. It showed me why they simply can not work, even for a day.

You know, I don't recall any serious arguments between them from the breakup with Lav-Lav to the end of the year. Correction. From the poisoning to the end of the year. That's what, three months? Yeah... and considering the fact that the major fight was because they weren't together...

Also one thing why did Ron break his figurine of Krum that he had got at the world cup?
Was he jealous about Kum dating Hermione?
My reasons are that he regarded Krum as his hero and was betrayed by him feeling that the guy was not talking to him but talking to his other best friend, bookworm hermione.

Worst parallel ever. Harry knew Dumbledore, he didn't really know Krum. Harry has had Voldemort in his head for about a year, he had Umbridge, he had Snape's "lessons"... a year of psychological torture, and Sirius dying was the last straw. He would have taken out his anger out on anyone who was in the vicinity at that point, and that includes Hermione.

Looks like they are gonna make it through to book seven unscathed.

I'd hate to get that far and find we had no insane Harmoanians left!

How about the fact that everything has been pointing to R/Hr happening since PS?

The Hiroshima comparison makes me cry!

It's great to see some of the usual delusionals suspects putting their two cents in this!

JKR is but the flawed messenger of the story of Harry and Hermione. The real Harry and Hermione are still destined for one another, naturally.

Bahahahahahahaha. And what was silly Jo going to do if 'Harry Potter' never became a massive cultural sensation that spawned a community of the deeply devoted and dedicated Harmonians who avoided the majority that conformed to the text and became emotionally engaged within a R/Hr pairing, in turn totally screwing over the select amount of readers who didn't notice the true meaning behind the "pillow secks" moment, resulting in a deeply confusing and major WTF ending to a complex series, making her look like she had no idea what she was doing and a total embarrassment to authors everywhere?
Boy, would her face be red.

The books are fiction. Do they not realize that? They're not real. JKR made it all up and wrote it down. It's not the end of the world if your favorite characters don't shag. Actually, I prefer none of them shag since it is a children's series.

"JKR said we should see the characters fall in love..........haven't seen a hint of that yet for R/Hr. Any pleasant moments between them are friendship ones. There is absolutely nothing that makes me think Hermione respects Ron."

I'm sorry, but how can you have a friendship without respect?

And how is it a good thing that Hermione would be so self-righteous that she would hang around with someone so much that she doesn't respect?

I looked up the word "know" in the dictionary

Oh dear God.

I bet this is why Mugglenet/TLC wouldn't publish the audio of the Interview of Doom. They didn't want to have to explain the long pauses as JKR looked up words in the dictionary to make sure they supported her sooper sekrit Harmony subtext.

Someone needs to give these people a lesson on the importance of context over dictionary definition.

Awww, how nice. Little Cornfield decided to yap again. The OBWHF shipper circle-jerk society. Complete with Corby in the lead! Well, *pets Cornfield* I knew your silence was too good to last. After all, I've yet to meet a OBHWF shipper who cannot scratch that itch to follow and bash H/Hr shippers. It's like they are jealous of something--because if they were really satisfied, they would just be happy in their own without feeling the need to tear down other ships. Must be a lingering sense of insecurity--but I thought it was OBVIOUS! The only obvious point in the entire book! Nothing else is clear from that mastery of trickery JKR, EXCEPT the child shipping! No, no, WE MUST not believe that JKR ever, ever could possibly have wanted to lay tricks there, despite doing so in every other area of the books!

It really is amusing, you know. This blind faith in OBHWF. If JKR goes with OBHWF, so be it... (we won't be that upset, just disappointed) but I'm really looking forward to the wank if it goes Harmony. Why, all the egg on faces here will be stupendous.

The Vanceone Drinking Game

Because you know how much I like games...

Take one shot if Vanceone shows up on a thread. Take two if it's in a community that is not [info]hp_cornfield. Take a third shot if he's commenting on [info]harmonywank to gripe about something said on [info]the_hms_stfu. Finish the bottle if he's commenting about a locked post in [info]the_hms_stfu (he ain't allowed in those parts).

Take a shot if he's trying to be sarcastic or condescending and failing at it. Take a double shot if while doing so, he mentions how much he is going to laugh if the book goes Harmony and we all wank. Take another if he makes a statement about OBHWF shippers in the process if it can be ironically applied to and is more accurate about Harmony shippers. CHUG If he stops being funny and gets serious after making fun of us for taking him too seriously.

If his answer to a simple statement exceeds the word count of 300, take a shot. Take another if it involves OBHWF bashing and triple it if he is OBHWF bashing in an argument about how much Harmonians are oppressed.

Take a shot if he mentions or refers to [info]narcissam. Take two if it's Gun or [info]major_dallas. Take three if its another wanka.

Take a shot if IoD is mentioned or referred to, but then is nixed off as a cover up for the true direction JKR is striving toward- a road that ends in Harmony.

Take a shot if somehow Harmonians are referenced to be a better lot than other ships (i.e. better at reading comprehension, better essays, prefect hair, straight teeth).

Take three shots if Vance fails to recognize that not everyone on the hp_cornfield is OBHWF.

CHUG if Vance makes it sound like the live all and end all of HP is about who Harry bones in the end.

CHUG if Vance uses the word "canonical" as an adjective- i.e. Harmony is a canonically based ship.

Strip naked and run around screaming, waggling your special bits, if Vance pledges to never post on jf again or deletes a journal. Repeat this ritual every time he comes back like Fawkes.

Feel free to add. ♥

I don't think I'd go that far, Nathaniel. She wasn't as blunt as she could have been--she has never sunk H/Hr. She's never said "H/Hr won't happen."

GOF. Harry being all, "Gawd, bitches. Me and Hermy are nothing but besties. I've only said it, like, five million times. Rita Skeeter's a damn fool, yo." *

OotP. Harry being all, "Gawd, Cho. I only want to meet Herms because we're friends. Quit your crying before I pimp slap your ass."

HBP. Harry being all, "Yeah, Hermione's with that guy-I-can't-be-bothered-to care...OMGWTF GINNY AND DEAN? SO JEALOUS!"

*This was the book containing the whole "Herm-o-ninny" to "Her-mi-o-nee" thing. I don't think JKR is adverse to cleverly concealing details she wants her readers to learn through the text in an obvious fashion. So the whole "I DON'T CARE FOR HERMIONE THAT WAY; SHE'S NOT MY GIRLFRIEND RAAAA!" should be taken as a ship-sinker.

Would she change her story to OBHWF so she can say she never lied in the interviews? She might.

It's funny how many people just mocked what this person said but it makes perfect sense because JKR's character's personalities changed a great deal. Not gradually but it changed instantly like a different person was deciding how the characters were to act. Also I think that JKR probably after she realized how many people shipped H/Hr, probably things that she should have written differently and since she could not change them now, she had to find a way to change them in HBP and in DH. But with that drastic difference I know [b]some[/b] intellegent h/g and r/hr shippers that don't like HBP at all because even they know it isn't written as well as it should be, like her older books.

The books are fiction. Do they not realize that? They're not real. JKR made it all up and wrote it down. It's not the end of the world if your favorite characters don't shag. Actually, I prefer none of them shag since it is a children's series.
Funny how you are saying that the books are fiction but many people here don't really seem to realize it aswell.
Only like 1 person mentioned shagging anyways.

I'm sorry, but how can you have a friendship without respect?

And how is it a good thing that Hermione would be so self-righteous that she would hang around with someone so much that she doesn't respect?

You can't have love without mutual respect. You also can't have love without mutual friendship.
Hermione is Ron's friend because Harry brought the two of them together. They never would have been friends otherwise. Also they stay friends for Harry's sake and the fact that Harry would have to choose one over the other if something were to happen.

Actually, if you read the time-turner scene again in the books, it did not play out the same way in the films at all. Hermione and Buckbeak were in Hagrids hut most of the time, while Harry struggled with what to do...there was no chase with the werewolf, no Harry holding Hermione while she said "that was so scary"....in fact Harry was very frustrated with Her alot of the time with all the nagging she did.
