A Petit Exchange Full of Much Fail Over on A.R.G.H. at Ye Olde FAP, Lysette is up to her old hyjinks- but this time, it really takes the cake. Her comparison is incredibly unique. Not only that, but this has to be a violation of Godwin's. Shipping H/G or R/Hr is like shipping the OTP of the Third Riech: Hitler/Eva! Lysette posts: I consider both G/H and R/Hr "the Real Deal," just like I consider Eva Bruan/Adolph Hitler "the Real Deal." Eva was crushing on Hitler for YEARS for reasons unknown. Hitler kept her around because, since "The Night of the Long Knives" when the SA was destroyed by the SS (Putting the SS in power.), the rumor going around German High Command was that the reason the SA was destroyed was because their Leader rejected Hitler for a sixteen year old boy. Said Leader was given a gun with a single bullet, and told to do the right thing. Hitler had the SS destroy the SA in revenge for this rejection. This is what got the SS into the position of power they enjoyed for most of the war. While the public stance of the Hitler Regime was Antigay, in actuality the two in charge of the SS and several others in Hitler's staff where either known or rumored to be Gay. Hitler finally rewarded Eva for her years of devotion with marriage on April 29, 1945, one day before she died of poison, and he died of a single gunshot wound to the back of the head. Even in death, Hitler was a coward. My point is that Ginny's "three sunlit weeks" comes across like Eva's Bunker Wedding, a too little too late boon for their steadfast devotion to an indifferent male. In many ways Ginny is just like Eva, a pretty and convenient Beard for what is really going on. Eva made those not in the know think that Hitler was normal, when in truth he was anything but. Hitler was living on rice and pills, and did not eat in the view of others. Hitler was dying of Parkinson's. Stalin kept the burned up body, and an autopsy was done in the Nineties to confirm the Parkinson's and the actual cause of death. Ginny made Harry appear to be a normal teenage school boy to himself and the rest of the school, and that was no more true than that Hitler was normal. Eva and Ginny were both illusions of normalcy. But that is all they were, illusions. Anise furthur bolsters Lysette's analogy, by adding more input. You know, it's really creepy, the way that Hitler LI parallels spring to mind so easily when thinking of H/G (as Lysette noted!) Dating Harry seems to be the kiss of doom (Cho lost Cedric after Harry got interested in her, and you just know Voldy is going to at least try to use Ginny against Harry in some way,) and every woman Hitler ever actually dated (not just Eva but Unity Mitford and poor Geli Raubal come to mind) killed herself.... well, anyway. That's enough of that, and I definitely don't think that Harry is Adolf or Ginny is Eva. She's more Geli, if anything. But isn't it all so romantic?? :P To which, Lysette responds: My point is that Hitler would have all these "perfect" home movies made of Him, Eva and whoever was visiting to give the illusion that everything was just picture perfect, normal to the German People, the Allies, that "nasty" Stalin, Japan and the rest. His relationship with Eva was total illusion, but she wanted him so badly that she was willing to take whatever crumbs he would toss her way. Hitler just needed a pretty girl that would play along with the program, and keep her mouth shut. Harry wanted to convince everyone, particularly himself, that everything in his life was "Just Peachie," and the biggest thing he had to worry about was if his team would win the game on Saturday. It was just as big a load of Rubbish as Hitler's "Perfect Home Movies." Hitler got shot in the back of the head because Hilter did not want to face the fallout from what he had done any more than Jim Jones at Jonestown did, but neither could take their own life, alone. Dumbledore took that little bullet for Harry. So, now, unlike Hitler and Jim Jones who both had someone else kill them to avoid their fates, Harry decided to not take their cowards way out, and face his fate head on. Just not with his "Beard," Ginny Weasley -- the modern Eva Braun. The Ideal Girl of an indifferent guy who doesn't care. Shine on, you crazy diamonds, shine on. |
