Yes, Jo is laughing at you.
I guess we should start a post about the (edit) confirmed REAL epilogue going around. SPOILERS and NON-STOP WHINING in the links.

ONTD_trash: Scans in the comments.

spoil_me_dh: Your writing is shit, Jo!

Edit: News sites are talking about the leak now and there's a locked post on spoil_me_dh where the book was scanned showing the dust jacket, colored hard bookcover, copyrights, title and dedications pages. Unless someone decided to fake all that as well as 700+ pages, the leak is real.

Edit^2: A mousy pointed out there is a new lj community: its_a_fake.

Edit^3: There's a plan of mass suicide on JKR's lawn if she doesn't write a Harmoanian ending the book better. (Thanks nekoama!)

Edit^4: A mousy pointed out there's a new picture of the book going around with a certain lj community in the background. Another blow for the FAKE side.

So... JKR is upset that the NY Times is reviewing the book, and spoiling people.

The NY Times review appears to be consistant to the leaked version.

There's nothing really spoilery in the NYT review. And I thought it was a very good one, and it was certainly very flattering toward Rowling.

Maybe by expressing her disapproval she's just looking for a sneaky way to get more people to read the NYT review, which is complimentary and tantalising. Clever!

Interestingly, the review in the Baltimore Sun, which pre-empted the NYT's review by several hours, has been revised. It no longer reveals what the Deathly Hallows are and all the comments on the previous version have been deleted. It still gives away the ending, though.

For those who do not yet have accounts on Portkey or HarmonyForever, I shall summarise the discourse.

Poster 1: "I've been saying since Half-Assed Prince that JKR is a talentless hack, and I've been proved right. Her series really has been the suckiest of sucky things. She could have lifted it from the depths of ridiculousness if she had made Ginny an evil h0r and had Harry fall in love with Hermione, but she's chosen not to, and she deserves all the contempt the future will pour upon her. Her daughter must be ashamed."

Poster 2: "I can't believe she sunk us so callously. :( What have we ever done to make her hate us?"

Good times.

Yeah, her daughter must be ashamed of having the one of most successful authors of all time for a mum, who also happens to be a good friends of the Prime Minister's wife. The shame, the shame.

Yes, I'm sure future generations of readers will remember JKR as the evil h0r that destroyed Harmony.

Wait, I thought Portkey had a no spoiler-discussion rule in place? You know, to keep the more batshitdelicate members from slitting their wrists?

They do, but there's a special forum for Leaks/Fakes discussions. From what I understand, they're still treating the leaks as fake material.

And I think I kind of love that.

Does anyone else find it ironic that the book hasn't even come out yet and already the Harmonians are switching from "Wuv, Twu Wuv" to "Oooh, Evil and sexy is SO much cooler!"

Seriously?

in a new act of thumbing their nose at JKR, the NYT has published a confirmation that the leaked version is real.

They went to a store and just bought a copy? They can do that?

I'm not sure what to think of that article.

Frankly, I feel bad for whatever store it was that they bought it at (and it must be real--they wouldn't post something so inflammatory, if it was false, especially if they were one day away from getting proved wrong. It's still NYT after all).

Wouldn't it be a little to coincedental if somebody who worked at that newspaper walked into a bookstore and just happened to stumble upon these so-called books up on display. I can honestly picture them going up to the store owner and asking for the copy, while convincing them that it's okay, because they are such a prestigious newspaper ("No, really, you won't get in trouble--I work for the New York Times").

Think about it, we'd be hearing about other people from New York getting their copies early from whatever this store is, but it's just the Times that happened to get it.

Since I'm just waiting around for 10:30 p.m. to come, I'm still bumming around the communities and amusing myself with some users nonsensical rationale.

Like this one.

See, I went to Borders and got my wristband (#75 in the Orange group!) and though the area was empty, the lady manning the table had a really long list of readers who reserved a copy in advance. That quiescent scene, as I say and has been said before, is merely the calm before the storm.

At least over here @ my side of good ol' California, J.K. Rowling has not screwed her fandom base over.

Anyone else getting ready for tonight? I'm so excited.

Hey, can you explain what the heck the colors mean on the wristbands? There were blue and orange at my store--I'm assumming they're all the same?

Ugh, I'm #295, and I went an hour after the store opened to pick it up too.

Ooh, what part? I'm SoCal.

As for getting my book, my friend and I are heading to our neighborhood Ralph's. I'm starting to have nightmares that it will be crowded as fuck and we won't be able to breeze in and out like I'd hoped.

That is a fantastic plan! Kill yourselves to force her to re-write the book. And then you can read it when she's done.

I kind of hope this happens. At least it will cleanse the gene pool some.
