I guess we should start a post about the (edit) confirmed REAL epilogue going around. SPOILERS and NON-STOP WHINING in the links.

Edit: News sites are talking about the leak now and there's a locked post on spoil_me_dh where the book was scanned showing the dust jacket, colored hard bookcover, copyrights, title and dedications pages. Unless someone decided to fake all that as well as 700+ pages, the leak is real.

Edit^2: A mousy pointed out there is a new lj community: its_a_fake.

Edit^3: There's a plan of mass suicide on JKR's lawn if she doesn't write a Harmoanian ending the book better. (Thanks nekoama!)

Edit^4: A mousy pointed out there's a new picture of the book going around with a certain lj community in the background. Another blow for the FAKE side.

There is now a flocked post with uploads of the supposed entire book on spoil_me_dh. People are crying, there is much gnashing of the teeth. In short, it's beautiful!

Thanks for the heads up. I don't want to be too spoiled but the epilogue was hard to pass up because of the reaction. Potterdämmerung will not be disappointing.

I can't decide what's the best out of that thread: the posters who say they'll collapse from grief if it's real, or those who insist it's a 495-page hoax (like Rowling has nothing better to do than write 495 pages of a fake book simply to fool people).

All I know is, I want a t-shirt to wear on Friday night that says "Albus Severus."

The whole uproar about Albus Severus has me in stitches. I really don't know much about the HP fandom beyond all the wank from HBP, but I just can't get over how upset they are about a name. A name that seems pretty typical Rowling to me. Oh, right, but it's only a problem because they are calling him Al. You, know, because no one has nicknames in Harold Harry Potter.

I'm so disappointed I haven't found Snape-hater wank yet. I bought a crappy and delusional "predictions" book and I want a refund back in wank for the "Snape is evil, he growled at Harry! Don't look at scenes where he helps Harry, they aren't important as Snape being mean to Harry. SNAPE IS BADDY MCEVIL!" throughout the book.

I know several people who swore that the HP series would be dead to them (DEAD, you hear?) if Snape was anything but the evillest of evil evils. Most of them have not checked out the spoilers but I'm going to relish their reactions when the book comes out.

The main reason I'm surprised so many people hate the epilogue is because Snape DOES turn out to be a brave, shining hero. I thought JKR was a horrible writer because she made ugly, nasty people evil and condoned bullying by presenting Snape unflatteringly? That's what I heard when HBP came out.

But they don't like him being a woobie either. I am confused.

Based on earlier fake spoilers, I think they wanted him to be his own man because that would make him ultra-awesome or something. But those spoilers made him to be a lot like Peter so that would have been lame.

I'm someone who said that, and I have to say that the series hasn't been ruined for me. I didn't pick Snape as a childhood friend of Lily's or that his worst memory was because he called her a Mudblood. I liked that.

I still think he's a horrible person, because of the aforementioned Neville torturing and how he treated Harry, but people aren't all evil, not if they can love. The Malfoys are proof of that.

I do hate the name Albus Sevrus though. *shudders*

I thought Snape was bad! None of the creative theories explaining his goodness during killing Dumble with hatred on his face satisfied me. But flashbacks happen I can see how he could do good things too. Also, he bullied Neville, which is a sin in my book. He saved Neville from Goyle too, but unless Neville turns out to be perverted murderer or something, Snape remains to be a bully. I didn't want him to be a woobie, secret tragic hero or better candidate for Harry's father, but I can't wait to see his good side (and sorry for my english :)

Mentioned this whole thing to a friend in rl, without mentioning specific spoilers, we both agreed that given how many people are obsessed with Harry Potter, it's plausible that someone, somewhere, would want to do that, and be able to pull it off.

The scans seem real enough to me, but it wouldn't suprise me if they were fake either.

Obviously, there are people crazy enough in this fandom to mock-up 495 pages (I'm thinking of the woman who saw Dumbledore in her toast and the girl who basically typed up HBP, word-for-word with Hermione's name put in for Ginny's).

My objection is that it's too GOOD. Fan-writers, in general, are not very good. And those that are are too smart to sit around imitating Mary Grandpre's drawings and writing up 495 pages of perfect grammar and spelling to fool people for four days--and when the hell would they have the time? We've only known the official chapter titles for a few days.

I'm the first anonymouse who said that it *could* be a hoax, 2 posts above: admittedly I hadn't read the book then.

I have now, and I agree that it's very good. Very, very good, and it totally reads like Rowling's writing. I'm (a) much more certain that it's real, and (b) much more worried that it *could* be a fake, because I WANT it to be real.

Actually - having looked through this myself - it has a lot of grammar and spelling errors. Not to mention a huge number of typos. You've got Hermione saying that Mad-Eye Moody was so "cough" at one point. That happens with the names too - Teddy Lupie instead of Teddy Lupin and Hermione Jean instead of Hermione Jane.

There are also some pretty big contradictions with stuff Jo has said on her website - like the Fidelius Charm. Jo has it on her website that when the Secret-Keeper dies, the secret dies with them and nobody they told can reveal the secret. But this book says that everybody Dumbledore told about Grimmauld Place became a Secret-Keeper in turn so they had to move the Order headquarters because that "diluted" the Fidelius Charm.

Bad editing and major inconsistencies. It's most likely fake. I'd like to know who did write it though because it is a good fanfic - a good beta reader could make it excellent.
