Classy!
Hello Harmonians,

the idea behind Project Harmony is that we pull off a full page ad (maybe even more) in a magazine to finally be able to speak up and let JKR know how we feel.

I've done a similar project for another couple before and it got a reaction from producers and the actors. I wasn't in charge of it, but I hope we can all work together to figure this out.

God knows we won't change this horrible ending for Harry and Hermione, but I think it's time we speak up, not only to tell JK how we feel, but also to honor H/Hr and let the world know that we're still out there and we're not going anywhere.

...Yep, it's time for another Harmonian project to tell JKR how they feel! Just like the other great projects... that never really got pulled off.

"Nora", the organiser, also prepared a sample letter.

I wrote a first draft of the letter. It's just a suggestion. Feel free to add or remove anything or write down your own ideas.

This ad is an homage to the characters Harry Potter and Hermione Granger from the "Harry Potter" book series.

First and foremost, we'd like to thank J.K. Rowling for creating these two characters. In spite of the fact that the series ended with other pairings, we are still grateful for all the wonderful moments we got to read between those two. While we definitely saw the 'anvil sized hints' for certain other couples, they didn't capture our hearts. It was the deep bond between Harry and Hermione that did, no matter where it eventually led them. The traits that define their relationship are things that we all value in life: mutual respect, admiration, unconditional love and support, kindness, loyalty..... There are many scenes throughout the books that capture all these things, but one of them stands out to us: in 'Deathly Hallows', Hermione accompanies Harry to his parents' graves. He cries and mentally wishes to have something to put on the graves. Hermione senses it, conjures a wreath and silently holds his hand throughout. It is this scene that sums up why these two characters have so many fans, even though not a word is spoken between them. The understanding and depth to their relationship has yet to be matched by another and it is this love, sexual or not, that we will remember and carry with us from this series.

If all this makes us 'delusional', as stated by a website's member who shall remain unnamed, then we'll proudly accept that term and take comfort in the fact that we never felt the need to trash people in front of the books' author just because their opinions differ from ours.

Last but not least, special thanks to actors Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, who portray Harry and Hermione beautifully in the movies and bring their magic to life brilliantly.

However, there's a problem: as havoc says:

"I think there should be a little more critisism towards book 7 in the letter. I like the ending (the small thank you to Dan and Emma) because it's quite small and I think it should stay that way."

Nora responds:

What do you suggest? I want the letter to be as respectful as possible. It'd be sad if we came off as whiny.

At which I laugh and laugh. Luckily, sarielle has a completely non-whiny addition.

"Many of us were disappointed that in both Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows Harry and Hermione seemed to lose some of their character traits that made them so special, seemingly in order to allow for the final pairings to happen. To be honest, this was rather hurtful; all of a sudden these two characters we so adored became people we felt we hardly knew anymore, all for the sake of two romantic relationships that we felt served no great purpose to the plot. However, we must reiterate that we respect Ms Rowling and her work very much, and acknowledge that just like in life, fiction doesn't always work out the way we want it to."

You know, I really hope they pull this one off. I'd buy that magazine.

ETA:
harryandhermione85 writes:
I agree that we shall not seem whiny, and that we shall not give Emerson any satisfying. But we have to point out she offended us with her behaviour, and that we are proud to be "delusional".

Of course, it's more accurate with an ellipsis: I agree that we shall not seem whiny... and that we are proud to be "delusional".

*sigh*

I hope they realize that in order to advertise in any of the magazines that JKR or anyone else would be likely to see, it would cost them a fair amount of money.

It's going to take an awful lot of pumpkin pie sales to pay for it all.

Oh dear.

They do realize that no one is going to look at that ad and think "Gosh, they're right - I was thinking the same thing and was afraid to speak up!" or "Good for them for righting this great injustice!" They're going to think "Haha, psycho losers who spent thousands of dollars on an ad because Harry Potter made them cry." Way to make all fans look bad, guys.

this horrible ending for Harry and Hermione

Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!

If all this makes us 'delusional'

Well, thinking Harry and Hermione had horrible endings, that's definitely delusional.

It'd be sad if we came off as whiny.

No, just funny.

If they really want to do something like this, they need to take a cue from the people who did the Brokeback Mountain ad. Instead of complaining about not winning the Best Picture Oscar, they simply thanked everyone who awarded BBM the Best Picture of the year. Very classy, imo. Whining about being "delusional" or Harry and Hermione having a "horrible" ending--not so much.

Bitter and entitled, much?

I thought JKR showed Harry and Hermione's friendship beautifully when they were in Godric's Hollow. They're still friends, best friends, and just because Harry covered Hermione with Ron's blankets after Ron left, and not his naked body (EWWWWWWW), doesn't make their friendship less poignant.

Also, the fact that Harry would rather stare at Ginny's name on a map instead of comforting Hermione with his burning cauldron full of love speaks magnitudes.

AND --- if it was Harry and Hermione together with kids (with giant hair) at King's Cross in the epilogue, it would be THE BEST THING EVARRRRR instead of OMG REPRESSION.

Yeah, the epilogue was cheesy, but Harry, SINCE THE BOOKS ARE ABOUT HIM YOU KNOW, finally got what he's always wanted -- a FAMILY. She left the jobs and the accomplishments and everything that happened immediately after the war FOR US to decide, you know? Just because Hermione had children doesn't mean that she's not an Auror or a Healer or working the the Dept of Mysteries.

Ugh, I forgot -- Earth logic does not prevail. Tissue?

In fandom everyone knows they're whining because all that meta and and the movies made no difference when JKR wrote the canon. I just think spreading it all over the world outside of fandom is NOT a good thing for them. More people might actually stop by their forums to mock them, and they've been getting mocked for yrs.
