Classy!
Hello Harmonians,

the idea behind Project Harmony is that we pull off a full page ad (maybe even more) in a magazine to finally be able to speak up and let JKR know how we feel.

I've done a similar project for another couple before and it got a reaction from producers and the actors. I wasn't in charge of it, but I hope we can all work together to figure this out.

God knows we won't change this horrible ending for Harry and Hermione, but I think it's time we speak up, not only to tell JK how we feel, but also to honor H/Hr and let the world know that we're still out there and we're not going anywhere.

...Yep, it's time for another Harmonian project to tell JKR how they feel! Just like the other great projects... that never really got pulled off.

"Nora", the organiser, also prepared a sample letter.

I wrote a first draft of the letter. It's just a suggestion. Feel free to add or remove anything or write down your own ideas.

This ad is an homage to the characters Harry Potter and Hermione Granger from the "Harry Potter" book series.

First and foremost, we'd like to thank J.K. Rowling for creating these two characters. In spite of the fact that the series ended with other pairings, we are still grateful for all the wonderful moments we got to read between those two. While we definitely saw the 'anvil sized hints' for certain other couples, they didn't capture our hearts. It was the deep bond between Harry and Hermione that did, no matter where it eventually led them. The traits that define their relationship are things that we all value in life: mutual respect, admiration, unconditional love and support, kindness, loyalty..... There are many scenes throughout the books that capture all these things, but one of them stands out to us: in 'Deathly Hallows', Hermione accompanies Harry to his parents' graves. He cries and mentally wishes to have something to put on the graves. Hermione senses it, conjures a wreath and silently holds his hand throughout. It is this scene that sums up why these two characters have so many fans, even though not a word is spoken between them. The understanding and depth to their relationship has yet to be matched by another and it is this love, sexual or not, that we will remember and carry with us from this series.

If all this makes us 'delusional', as stated by a website's member who shall remain unnamed, then we'll proudly accept that term and take comfort in the fact that we never felt the need to trash people in front of the books' author just because their opinions differ from ours.

Last but not least, special thanks to actors Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, who portray Harry and Hermione beautifully in the movies and bring their magic to life brilliantly.

However, there's a problem: as havoc says:

"I think there should be a little more critisism towards book 7 in the letter. I like the ending (the small thank you to Dan and Emma) because it's quite small and I think it should stay that way."

Nora responds:

What do you suggest? I want the letter to be as respectful as possible. It'd be sad if we came off as whiny.

At which I laugh and laugh. Luckily, sarielle has a completely non-whiny addition.

"Many of us were disappointed that in both Half Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows Harry and Hermione seemed to lose some of their character traits that made them so special, seemingly in order to allow for the final pairings to happen. To be honest, this was rather hurtful; all of a sudden these two characters we so adored became people we felt we hardly knew anymore, all for the sake of two romantic relationships that we felt served no great purpose to the plot. However, we must reiterate that we respect Ms Rowling and her work very much, and acknowledge that just like in life, fiction doesn't always work out the way we want it to."

You know, I really hope they pull this one off. I'd buy that magazine.

ETA:
harryandhermione85 writes:
I agree that we shall not seem whiny, and that we shall not give Emerson any satisfying. But we have to point out she offended us with her behaviour, and that we are proud to be "delusional".

Of course, it's more accurate with an ellipsis: I agree that we shall not seem whiny... and that we are proud to be "delusional".

Joanne Rowling is the richest woman in the country that invented being rich. The fuck she cares about a newspaper personal about how hurt somebody's feelings were when a book character and another book character made kissyface.

Harry and Hermione's "horrible ending"? You mean the one where they were happily married to people that they're actually in love with and have adorable little kids running around? Yeah, that was totally tragic.

But they can't really be happily married, can they? Not with Hermione being oppressed by her abusive husband Ron and Harry humiliated by his slut of a wife, Ginny, sleeping around with everything that breathes. Now they're trapped in those terrible, loveless relationships forever. D:

Gah, it hurt me to even type that. I can't image that there are people who actually believe it.

Does anyone else imagine Harmonians on the bottom of the ocean, clinging to the rails of an algae-and-coral-covered ship wreck, once glorious like the titanic, crying "NO, IT DID NOT SINK!!! IT'S UNSINKABLE!"?

...that is, if the inability to read properly enables you to breathe under water.

They're more like Inferi. They just refuse to die completely, no matter how many times they get killed by JKR or even if they're stabbed with a sword. It's no use.

Does any of them feel as if JK bitchslapped them by saying the only way Harry and Hermione could occur is in someone's Voldemort inspired nightmares? I thought JK was going for the overkill there yet sadly, it probably still wasn't clear enough.

Well looking at it logically, they did get bitchslapped worse than Bellatrix because, well, their "ship" (which doesn't even really qualify as a raft at this point) came out of an evil object with the sole purpose of torturing Ron who drove a sword through it. Then again, we know Harmonians are pretty much allergic to logic, they probably break out in hives in its presence.

Am I conclusively convinced that JKR would not have used such explicit language as the sister/brother love without her experiences with shipping culture? Not at all. Though she could have been a lot nastier.

Who knows. In light of the JKR interview with the Today show, they'll have other nitpicky things to peck on.

I'll believe the ad when I see it. Until then, this project is one of those "rush of emotion" type of things when people don't really think clearly. I've discussed this with a different user and was informed that a full-page ad in Vanity Fair goes for $120K thereabouts. If they're going to do this in some other magazine, then the price may go down but it's likely to stay in the thousands. Where they'll get that much $$, I'd like to see.

Your second page of comments' not working. Or is it just me?

OT. Any news on Harmonians reacting to Ron's profession, "Ron's wife's" profession, Neville/Luna and such?

Most of them have stopped dead in their tracks after whining about how Hermione had become a baby maching. *eyeroll*

Then there are people saying that Ron's pathetic because he's still riding on Harry's coattails. Must. Control. Fist of DEATH.

Oh, and then there are the people who are saying that if JKR felt the "pull" of Neville/Luna, why couldn't she have felt it for H/Hr and written Harmony? The batshit just never ends with this fandom.

I heard that there were people claiming (before today's interview, obviously) that since it was never explicitly stated that Ron and Hermione, or Harry and Ginny, were married in the Epilogue, that they might not have been. Does anyone have links to this?

And I'm proud to be a Harmonian

And I won't forget how JKR
Said we were plain crazy
And I'll gladly shell out
along with you and buy a stupid ad
Cause there ain't no doubt I love this ship

They're sending their Harmony essays (especially the alchemy ones) to JKR now, hoping she'd see the light.

"I think its a good idea, the essay writers here can show JKR what genius really means. The thing is, does anyone truly believe she'll read them? You can fit a lot into the recycle bin these days."

Yeah, Voldemort wasn't conquered by Harry and Hermione's alchemical orgy, that means JKR probably can't read. Oh gosh, how I hate these delusional retards.

Emma Watson updated her homepage saying she finished DH... it should dismay Harmonians and people who fake facts for believe in Dan and Emma having anything going on.

oh wait... they are just going to ...uh... "read between the lines", because clearly

"The trio survived!! And Hermione and Ron got married and had babies! woop woop! I feel quite bad being so happy about that because, there were so many other details... "

means she's devastated about this "non-canon" ending and thrilled that she gets to Horcrux-snog Dan (don't you see it right there between the lines? It says "OMG, I GET TO MAKE OUT WITH DAN!").

Please excuse my sad tries to comprehend Harmonian minds.
