Harmonians: Still Oppressed, part CXIV in an ongoing series
Over in the comments of the latest lj_biz post, usofbs posts a comic comment (Note: comic is NSFW, as one of its panels has a banned Snarry pic) explaining how LJ could possibly have decided to delete a few more journals lately.

So why am I posting about this here? Because the comic blames it all on the Harmonians! OH NOEZ!

Cue Logansrogue losing her shit in futher comments:

Are you fucking stupid? The last thing you need to be doing right now is alienating *any* part of fandom, particularly H/Hr Shippers.

You do realise that we have far more members in harryhermione than is in honestlyronald?

My comm is affiliates with honestlyronald as well. A large number of our fans *liked* the seventh book and defended it.

So I really do think you owe H/Hr shippers an apology. I realise you're just making a joke but seriously - you lot have been making the SAME fucking joke for two years now. It's not funny anymore! I understand the 'Potterdammerung' wasn't quite as satisfying this time, without the huge numbers of us wailing and gnashing our teeth at the OBHWF ending, but trying to go from this problem and segue into it being the Crazy Harmoanians again is really fucking lame.

This Harmonian is on the side of the slashers. This Harmonian ENJOYS SLASH.

The only person wanking in this thread, dear girl, is you. Congratulations, here's your "Dumb-shit Shipper Dick" award.

And later:

See, that's exactly it. It's *not* a harmless joke. Harry/Hermione fans are consistently excluded from fandom *just* because they read a book differently.

I hate to tell you this but your comic isn't funny. It's just not funny.

You're right - I over-reacted. I apologise for that. But I don't think you realise how wearing it is, taking care of a community, having to go above and beyond what any other fan group has to to prove ourselves sane and normal fans. It's a consistent tightrope, do you realise that? It's been going on for two years now and I get a little sick of it.

And this comic? It's just making things worse! I'm just as upset as anyone else here about what LJ is doing. Why pick on the H/Hr fans? I don't think you realise this, but your 'harmless' comic is insinuating that fans like me, Harry/Hermione fans, think any other pairing other than H/Hr amounts to rape.

That - that isn't hilarious. And making out like we're all against the 'perverted' other fandoms? Not funny either. We're one of the crowd and we just wanted to be treated as such, okay?

So you can pretend that I'm being crazy if you like, but I think I have a legitimate point here, which I'd really like for you to consider. If you have nothing against the H/Hr fandom, then don't sell them out for a joke that you hope will get you some LOLs and pats on the back. It's just not cool.

Again - I'm sorry for swearing at you. It wasn't cool of me and I shouldn't have let myself fly off the handle like that cause clearly it solved nothing.

But please consider that I have something real to be upset about.

When told to chill, because it was just a joke, Logansrogue and other Harmonians chime in with: "But it wasn't funny! If it has been funny, I'd be laughing right along with you! Srsly!"

Right. Sure.

They are so oppressed! The chocolate rain man on Youtube should alter his song to better reflect the plight of Harmonians.

"Chocolate rain - some stay dry and Harmonians feel the pain."

This Harmonian is on the side of the slashers. This Harmonian ENJOYS SLASH.

Preach it! Don't hold back now, you can never really overstate the point.

Harry/Hermione fans are consistently excluded from fandom *just* because they read a book differently.

The character bashing (ranging from Ron the abuser to Ginny the whore to the Weasleys descended from Satan), the character worship (Hermione, the perfect in every way saint, her purity must not be tainted by Ron), the bizarre interpretation of "symbolism" (toast, flying "pigs", hippogriffs), the condescending manner to everyone else, the scary reaction after HBP (author bashing, wishing she died, attacking her personal life, comparing yourselves to black slaves) and the all round insanity? Yeah, all of that suggests that you've been reading different books rather than "reading the books differently".

Note to Harmonians (not including the few who are sane): Nobody gives a crap what you "ship", it's the way you behave that's the problem. None of you seem to get that. So enough with the "OMG! Oppression! We're not allowed to like H/Hr, we are excluded from fandom!". Boo hoo, cry me a river.

And if that's true, it's proof that LJ did not start sucking just recently. We just started noticing it.

I certainly remember the story, but it's in the same hazy mist of memory which is taking over my high school physics classes. I'm not sure if it ever hit F_W, and if it did, I think it was on Blurty, but I remember the story being a running joke and the person with said icon being on F_W.

Myself, I found the comic funny -- less because I care one way or the other about Harmoanians, as that I find anything that makes fun of 6A to be funny this week.

I didn't find the comic very funny, but it's getting funny with that reaction!

Key sentence:Harry/Hermione fans are consistently excluded from fandom *just* because they read a book differently.
Addon: ...in ways completely illogical to people with reading comprehension skills.

A large number of our fans *liked* the seventh book and defended it.
Addon: ...others kept bashing book characters just because H/Hr didn't happen and got provided with a nice little comic for it. :)

you lot have been making the SAME fucking joke for two years now.
Addon: ♥ because we've continouusly provided you with material for it. ♥

See, that's exactly it. It's *not* a harmless joke.

Somehow, trying to prove you're not a "crazy Harmoninan" by being a crazy Harmonian seems counter-productive, don't you think?

I hate to tell you this but your comic isn't funny. It's just not funny.

Well, if it wasn't funny at first, it sure as hell is now.

Okay, so I need help from you internet detectives out there. I normally observe Portkey for my entertainment, which has led to me other forums as well. For a couple of months now I've had the suspicions that a supposed H/Hr shipper from Portkey who's been posting there for years is the same person as a rabid R/Hr shipper on another site. I don't want to point anything out before now because it might end up being just huge coincedence, but today the R/Hr identity of this person made a comment that I've only ever seen their H/Hr shipper counterpart make, and now I'm almost 100% positive that they are indeed the same person.

So could any of you IP address trackers email me to help me out with this?

Email me at saraj121@yahoo.com.

If my suspicions on this end up being right, it would be absolutely marvelous. The betrayal felt on both side would be absolute GOLD.

You are all fucking insensitive bitches. I cannot believe nobody here realizes how offensive this shit is to H/Hr shippers. (Not just Harmonians - who really differentiates between the two? People assume H/Hr shipper IS Harmonian!)

All of you are perfectly willing to stand up to LJ and 6A for the rights of fandoms as a whole, but when it comes to the rights of Harmonians? Oh, crazy, whatever. I bet if it was a Harry/Hermione picture that got someone suspended, none of you would care. I sincere hope the poster of that comment DOES get suspended! Fuck this!

You are just the same as the SixApart goons you so loathe. JUST THE SAME.

C'mon people, Harmony Forums are open again and there's goodness in every post. Like their reaction to Sthepen King's positive review of DH and the series:

Who knows what his motivation is? But I would never equate King with a professor of literature... he's a popular fiction writer, much like Rowling herself, that's all.
and
I would conclude that King cannot see JKR's work clearly

- Spoke by professors of literature who not only understand Rowling's work, but are also celebrated writers of literature for intellectual elite.

And the anvil sized hints? (Lissy)
She SAID the Anvils were there from POA, and they were.
Yessir, the anvil sized hints from three HP book premieres ago, that's what she said.

Reading comprehension skills? What skills? (Lissy again)
H/Hr was the TWIST because that is the LOGICAL route, so she put it out there to get people to fall for it, if they read past "See Jane. See Jane, run." The TWIST was to make her "smartest" readers look STU-POD! while supporting the Memersons of the World on the one hand, and then revealing the Dumbledore was AS BIG A MONSTER as Voldemort. If Harry did manage to survive, his job was to REPLACE Dumbledore. Rowling has said that Harry has been busy changing The Wizarding World in the last 19 years, just like Dumbledore before him. Dumbledore CREATED Tom Riddle -> Lord Voldemort because he knew and could have stopped all of it if he had ever wanted too, but he let it all proceed anyway. Everyone Voldemort killed, their Blood is on Dumbledore's hands. With Dumbledore gone, and Harry suitably "trained" into the Monster we saw in DH, Harry is Dumbledore's Heir. Dumbledore NEVER wanted to make things actually "better", and Harry will carry on Dumbledore's Great Work, for the Greater Good, of course.

Or this one:
Sorry guys, but I think... comparing Emma to the tripe called HP and draw parallels is a crime.
I think someone starts to get it.

Where is Emma with is excellent characterizations and plot twists and where is HP with is shallow and pathetic excuse of so called 'characters'...
...or not.

Alchemy and HP - Is a waste of time and insult to those authors who really understood and used it in canon with reasonable twists.

Yeah, JKR should show more respect for fanfic writers wanking to her own characters. After so much effort they put into twisting her books into H/Hr they deserve better than to not have the book written their way.

I actually went and looked for that alchemical wedding they use as a final proof of their superiority. And looks like there's not two but three alchemical ingredients for the wedding, sulphur (they twist their pants to prove it's Harry), mercury (which is "obviously" Hermione), and salt (Ron). They decided to ignore salt, but hey, everyone's free to interpret, right? And then there's that bit about salt being wisdom. Um, darn. And the other part about mercure being Hermaphrodite. HERMAphridite, got that? Haha. I mean, you just wish Rowling followed alchemy so we could watch and rotfl.

Harmonians, slap yourselves before it's too late.
