Thanks to sheep who first found a lot of these posts. It's the semi-regular Lysette/Lissy report! As an aside, she's discovered HP_Cornfield. But don't worry about hurt feelings. She's boasting about it to the "Can't Stand Teh Holy Defenderzz' thread. "Besides, if HP Cornfield REALLY hate you, then you must be doing something right".

Probably the most outrageous comparison this time around. R/Hr shippers bashing H/Hr shippers are like Fred Phelps at a soldier's funeral.

Repeatedly coming in to defend Teh Holy Defenderzz on a Can't Stand Teh Holy Defenderzz Thread is OFF TOPIC, but I guess they figure they can't "Save" the Unwashed Heathen Disgruntled Fans if they don't force their way on Disgruntled Threads because it is not like the Unwashed Heathen will come on their threads. Can't convert them if they can't force them to see the error of their ways. They are rather like those idiots from Kansas that go around protesting Gays at the funerals of Service Men who were killed in Iraq. What one has to do with the other I do not know, aside from they get on the News for it. They and their message are UNWANTED and totally inappropriate. One Father sued them because they disrupted his son's funeral and won, although last I heard, the Church involved is refusing to pay the damages. Figures.

Actually, in the Second Task, Dumbledore was testing his little would be "Chosen One" to see if Harry would put the lives of others before his own. Of the four, one was Harry's BFF Ron, then there was Harry's other best friend -- Hermione, and then there was the girl Harry was crushing on -- Cho. The last was Fleur's little sister, and that was to see if Harry would even put a stranger's life before his own. Harry passed with flying colors. Now would Dumbledore have let one of them drown to hammer home his point with Harry, absolutely. But I see Dumbledore as being Rowling's Churchill, even if Rowling didn't mean to do that -- she did.

Churchill was feared by the German High Command in WW II because back in WW I Churchill proved he would sacrifice ANYTHING, if it meant winning, when he sacrificed the RMS Lusitania in a bid to force the U.S. into the war. Churchill ordered that NO ONE was to inform the Captain of the Lusitania that there was a U-Boot sitting just outside the Harbor, and had been there for about a week. All it took was one torpedo, and Lucy went down in 21 minutes just like expected. The British Navy had just lost two cruisers with the very same bulkhead design recently, and they had gone down in 21 minutes -- each. That Lucy did the same was no surprise to anyone in the know, and Churchill was. It takes a special kind of cold blooded "person" to accept that kind of Collateral Damage, and Churchill was one and Dumbledore was even doing it from beyond the grave.

Voldemort might have been the monster Dumbledore helped to create, but he was an honest monster, while Dumbledore would hand you a Lemon Drop while coolly planning to have you murdered -- for The Greater Good, of course, at the same time. First Dumbledore "allowed" Voldemort, and then created a Harry to fight him. The ones who died along the way were the Collateral Damage, and well does the term "Grape Koolaid" mean anything to you? Dumbledore wanted to play God. So what on how many bodies it took to get there.

R/Hr is like 'Tap This' in Ugly Betty

What is your opinion on 'How to charm witches?' in relation to R/Hr?

It is like "Tap This" in Ugly Betty, namely you keep "insulting" women until you find one stupid enough to fall for it al la Amanda on Ugly Betty. It goes under the theory that Men are naturally He-Men superior to women, and all you have to do is demonstrate that superiority, and women will fall all over themselves to get to the "Superior" He-Man. Actually it is, as Hilda explained to Betty, to give the dorky guys (THE RONALD) the courage to actually go up to a girl and try to talk to her. It just proves what I always supected, that The Ronald is a DORK, and Hermione is convinced that The Ronald is her last shot at getting any guy. They have known each other for how long and still have to resort to a "Tap This?"

To paraphase Bridget Jones, "If I can't make it with you, Jones (See Ronald or Hermione), I can't make it with anyone." Sad, but there you go. Talk about BOTTOM of the food chain.

Lily is a Hawt Girl, Snape is a Chunky Girl.

Lily is like the Hawt Girl who goes to a Bar with a chunkie friend because well, you know that the Hawt Girl is going to go home that night with a Hawt Guy, while the chunky girl is going to go home alone. I mean, it is not like you would go to a bar with a girl/guy who was better looking than you, would you? Then they become competition. You want to go with someone who makes you look better standing next to them because you look better than them. That was how Lily was with Sev, he was a stepping stone to better things. As soon as he had served his purpose, he got dumped like that chunky girl at the bar. Lily landed the Rich, Cute Boy she wanted, and dumped Sev for being a TOTAL Embarrassment. I'm amazed she bothered to stay friends with a "loser" like Sev as long as she did.

Sev may have imagined that he and Lily were friends -- but they weren't. Sev was a means to an end, nothing more. Would you say that Lily is a User? I would.

Gin-bot the jealous mistress

Given the FACT that Harry treats Gin-Bot like his mistress and nothing more, you can see why Gin-Bot would be worried about every prettier girl that comes along. Obviously Gin-Bot views Hermione as UGLY because otherwise she would not like Harry and Hermione spending time in that tent alone together for so long. What if they weren't just sleeping? I mean an eleven year old girl is a threat, so Hermione still has the right plumbing and Harry still cannot be trusted with even an eleven year old girl...

Rowling's career has been ruined by not getting hit by a car.

But Margaret Mitchell was hit by a car and killed while crossing the street on her way to a movie theater, so it is not like she had to worry that ten years later she was going to be this sad woman who looks like someone who used to be famous for awhile. She died right after GWTW the movie came out. There was never a down side. Rowling is at the end of Harry Potter, and given HBP and DH, there is a real possibility that nothing she does from now on is ever going to be nearly as popular. Can you say Cabbage Patch Kids? I knew you could. So Rowling needs to milk her Celebrity for everything she can get for as long as she can, you know, like one those sort of celebrities that NEED to be on the cover of all the Tabloids every week. I mean, it is either that or slide back into being just a civilian again. Rowling does complain that when she takes the test for House Placement, she gets stuck in Hufflepuff. The end of the series was just not that great, so it is not like she can be the guy in Bridget Jones who wrote ONE hit song in the Nineties, and it was enough to keep him going for the rest of the Decade. I expect more strange and weird statements from Rowling as the date DH came out becomes farther and farther in the past.

Now, as it happens, Margarett Mitchell died in 1949, ten years after the movie of 'Gone With the Wind' came out. Thanks to puipui for looking this up.

The Weasleys: Straight Out of a Lifetime Movie.

There was a movie on Lifetime last night called Junebug which PEGS the Weasley Clan/Collective almost perfectly, given that there were only four in the actual family. The Mother is just like Molly down to being a mean nag who looks down on everyone starting with her own husband, and it is not like she is "all that and a bag of chips" to start. She even has red hair and is Large. The Dad is like Arthur down to a workshop in the basement rather than a shed out back that he spends his time hiding/working in. The oldest son, George, is like Bill, and he comes home after three years with a new wife who owns her own Art Gallery, her Dad was a diplomat so she has lived all over the world and the nicest thing Mom can think of to say about her is that "she has beautiful hands." She's the Fleur. This is after the wife had even tried to help the younger son with a school paper. (He is supposed to be working on a GED, since he dropped out of High School after getting a girl, Ashley, pregnant, and getting stuck marrying her.) The younger son, Johnny, spends his time being all Emo and Misunderstood because he thinks he is STILL a Teen, even if he is out of school and MARRIED. He and his wife, Ashley, live with Mom. Johnny is the worst of The Ronald and Emo!Harry, both. Ashley is the slightly older Gin-Bot, even being "as large as a house" because she is not just pregnant, but about to deliver because that is what Wombs do -- make babies.

Anyhow, at the end of the movie, George has packed up the wife, and they're heading back to Civilization. He can't wait to get out of there. If the Weasley's lived in the Bible Belt, they would be George's family, only George's family are always quizzing people about if Jesus is their "personal saviour" and what not, rather than "Dumbledore is always right!" Right or wrong.

I was watching Junebug, and it was like watching "Teh Weasley Show." I hated their Mom as much as I do Molly, felt sorry for the Dad, who usually didn't talk much around Mom because she would just yell at him that nobody wanted to hear what he had to say, anyway, if he did give an opinion. Just like Molly and Arthur. When Ashley is in the Delivery Room, Johnny starts lighting up a ciggie, so the doctors kick him out. When George tries to tell Johnny that Ashley lost her baby, Johnny is under his car working on it. Johnny gets up and throws a wrench at his brother, and hits him in the head like it is George's fault. If I was George, I would have gotten the H@ll out of there, and never come back again, too. George's family is just like the Weasleys, but on a smaller scale.

Okay, so as most of you likely know, JKR wrote a little book of fairy tales called "The Tales of Beedle The Bard." It's handwritten, there are only seven copies in existence, and Amazon.com bought one at auction for roughly four million American dollars.

They've put photos and reviews up on their site, but the real joy is in the public discussions at the foot of the page. Here's a comma-ridden taste from a thread entitled 'PATHETIC'.

Clearly, Mr. Chapman, had you read the books, you'd know, that no one, was actually, turned into a toadstool. Perhaps, if you'd referred to Mr. Draco Malfoy's transfigurement into a weasel, then, your snide words, might have held more credence. Enjoy your bitterness.

Back in August, Lissy/Lysette ran into a spot of trouble with the old Harry Potter/Hitler comparisons. For your amusement.

Lissy: I tend to view the Post Voldemort Wizarding World as a cross between thirties Germany under Chancellor Hitler, when undesirables were already starting to disappear, and Salem under Cotton Matther, where certain people were Born Evil, and needed to be rooted out and destroyed for the good of the whole. Matther had the right to decide who was worthy to live, and who was not. Only HIS opinion Mattered. I hope Harry doesn't mind that Dumbledore deemed him as Not Worthy. On the other hand, Ronald Weasley is the Poster Boy for the New World Order. The Fourth Reich.

I would never want to live under Rowling's New World Order.

Lissy: I bet I know far more about what it was like "on the Ground" so to speak living in Hitler's Germany prior to the invasion of Poland in '38 than you think. You had those that were born on the "right side" and those that were born on the "wrong side." (Strange that Hitler and most of his cronies would be placed on the wrong side, same as Cotton Matther in his Salem, if someone else was doing the judging.) Things happened like the SS grabbed this wrong guy because he happened to have the same name as someone they were looking for. They sent the casket back with a note on it to the family to not open. The guy they grabbed was a harmless teacher at the local college. In the early Thirties, anyone foolish enough to wear a Military Uniform out in public was likely to be torn to pieces by the Mob because the Military was hated for losing WW I and making things the way they now were. Many Historians have said that Hitler would have gone down in History as a "Great Statesman," if only he had had the good sense to die by 1938. People were already starting to "disappear," but they were only the wrong people. Just ignore it. Right People were safe. After WW I, Germany was beaten like the South after the Civil War in the US. Hitler was rebuilding Germany at an incredible rate, but no one could even imagine what the terrible cost that would be later extracted for it.

Your Duty IS to the State and Nothing else. WHATEVER the State may require of you, Hitler's plan to produce plenty of Aryan Babies to fill the Military and that sort. In Sparta, Anyone who died in battle OR IN CHILDBIRTH was given a State Funeral because they died in service to the State. The Citizens ONLY function is to Serve the State. If they have no service to give to the State, then they are useless and should be discarded. Examples, Molly constantly harping that all her kids MUST go into the Ministry, even if like the Twins, they have NO aptitude for it. To not serve the State is to have No purpose at all. If the State requires you to die, then you better get about it, and not question why. To question the State in any way is Blasphemy. One of my favorite authors was with Sixth Army at Leningrad, and actually lived to write about it after the War.

And then the FA mods warned Lissy off the subject. Short, but bewildering as usual.

A sporked version of this wank is available at The H.M.S. STFU. Though I suppose, technically, it should be just "H.M.S. STFU", since it otherwise works out to "The Her Majesty's Ship STFU", but... then again, without the "the" it sounds wrong.

Now, see, that's over-analysing. However, not quite so much as today's crank does: D.I.A.T.S.S.I.S.E., or QWERTYUIOP, as I shall refer to it, is a crank theory from before Deathly Hallows which, when proven wrong, sent its author into a rant of epic proportions.

Basically, it says that Dumbledore Impersonated A Trustworthy Severus Snape In Spinner's End - or QWERTYUIOP. This was the grand solution to all the mysteries of the Harry Potter series. As he explained:

To solve a mystery, most mystery genre fans know you have to use logic and deductive reasoning. What is logical to the fantasy genre fans is illogical in real life. I believe J. K Rowling is about to end the series in a logical, reasonable manner.

...a logical, reasonable manner which involves Dumbledore randomly impersonating Snape and agreeing to kill himself. But then, I'm a fantasy genre fan, and, according to him:

The Harry Potter fantasy genre fans believe the plot of Half Blood Prince has Dumbledore, the most intelligent wizard ever born, assign to a 17 yr. old teenager the almost impossible job of saving the world alone with no backup or support. Just think how illogical that conclusion is, but the fantasy genre fans tell you that was the plot of Half Blood Prince. They tell you it is logical for Dumbledore to have assigned this task to Harry Potter, and that the plot of Deathly Hallows will simply be about how this unqualified teenager finds the horcruxes, gets past their protection, destroys them, and then locates and kills the most evil and powerful wizard of all times. What a stupid idiot plot. I hope J. K. Rowling doesn't insult my intelligence with such an idiot plot. Examples of the errors of the logic of the fantasy genre fans is given throughout this site.

And furthermore, he wants Harry not to save the day, but instead be a perfectly ordinary wizard being tricked into being a pawn to allow other people to kill Voldemort while Harry distracts him. This would have the additional bonus of really insulting the fantasy genre fans:

By writing Deathly Hallows in this way, JKR will in effect have created a parody of the fantasy genre making the most adamant of her fantasy fans the butt of this joke.

Of course, this didn't pan out. So he went tl;dr on us!

JKR CHANGED HER MIND BETWEEN HBP AND DEATHLY HALLOWS

This is the only logical explanation that my mind could come up with because of the –forgive me- clue and the fact that the DIATSSISE theory is the perfect answer to the true owner of the elder wand in Deathly Hallows.

In my opinion JKR changed her mind on what she was writing or made major plot changes during the editing process because the movie industry wanted a different type of book and she wanted to please her child. The movie industry thinks and JKR agreed that the DIATSSISE theory and the trap theories are too complicated for movies or children. The only reason I include JKR’s child to this theory is JKR’s last paragraph of her office entry after DH was released.

MY BIGGEST REGRET

From this time forward when I think of the Harry Potter series I will think: “What a Shame. The series turned from a literary classic to Juvenile Trash with a few changes to the plot. It could have been so great. What a shame.”

I realize that they probably need to discuss what they like about the final book, but in my opinion it is not healthy for these children to continue much longer with their obsessive demands for unimportant detail. Please start encouraging these children to put their Harry Potter books away and start reading other books. I realize that I’m not a child psychologist, and I therefore ask you to please check with experts on the harm being caused to these children.

So why am I posting about this here? Because the comic blames it all on the Harmonians! OH NOEZ!

Cue Logansrogue losing her shit in futher comments:

Are you fucking stupid? The last thing you need to be doing right now is alienating *any* part of fandom, particularly H/Hr Shippers.

You do realise that we have far more members in harryhermione than is in honestlyronald?

My comm is affiliates with honestlyronald as well. A large number of our fans *liked* the seventh book and defended it.

So I really do think you owe H/Hr shippers an apology. I realise you're just making a joke but seriously - you lot have been making the SAME fucking joke for two years now. It's not funny anymore! As IF! Harry was just proving what a little sod he is. Gin-Bot doesn't breathe without his permission. If she did, he would lock her back in her Tower until she got with the program. I think DH!Harry despises weakness. He might have told Ron he liked her because she was tough from having six brothers, but Harry is always disgusted and ignores her whenever Bot shows a sign of weakness or emotion at all. That was why he was disgusted with Hermione, so it would carry over to the Bot. What was he going to tell his best friend, "The ONLY reason I like your sister is that she puts out." Even RON would slug him over that. Good thing Lavender didn't have any brothers when Ron, as we now know, had to punish Hermione repeated over something that happened two years ago. I would have loved it, if Harry informed Ronald that the ONLY reason he liked Ron's sister was because she is easy! I figure Ron would whine and blister and run away. That is another advantage with Ginny, Ron is afraid of Harry, so it is not like Ronald is going to Do Anything, no matter how insulting Harry is towards Ginny's Honor. Besides, Molly wants them married, so told Ronald that if he did anything to jeopardized Ginny's chances, then he had better NEVER try to come back to the Burrow. Molly is mercenary. Molly is the Mom in Reba's song, "Fancy." "You be Nice to Harry, Ginny, and he will take care of you.' Only that Mom wanted her daughter to live, and couldn't see any other way. (bold mine)

It's one thing to "interpret" the text differently from others, but when you start making crap up to fit your worldview...

Hello Harmonians,

the idea behind Project Harmony is that we pull off a full page ad (maybe even more) in a magazine to finally be able to speak up and let JKR know how we feel.

I've done a similar project for another couple before and it got a reaction from producers and the actors. I wasn't in charge of it, but I hope we can all work together to figure this out.

God knows we won't change this horrible ending for Harry and Hermione, but I think it's time we speak up, not only to tell JK how we feel, but also to honor H/Hr and let the world know that we're still out there and we're not going anywhere.

...Yep, it's time for another Harmonian project to tell JKR how they feel! Just like the other great projects... that never really got pulled off.

"Nora", the organiser, also prepared a sample letter.

I wrote a first draft of the letter. It's just a suggestion. Feel free to add or remove anything or write down your own ideas.

This ad is an homage to the characters Harry Potter and Hermione Granger from the "Harry Potter" book series.

First and foremost, we'd like to thank J.K. Rowling for creating these two characters. In spite of the fact that the series ended with other pairings, we are still grateful for all the wonderful moments we got to read between those two. While we definitely saw the 'anvil sized hints' for certain other couples, they didn't capture our hearts. It was the deep bond between Harry and Hermione that did, no matter where it eventually led them. The traits that define their relationship are things that we all value in life: mutual respect, admiration, unconditional love and support, kindness, loyalty..... There are many scenes throughout the books that capture all these things, but one of them stands out to us: in 'Deathly Hallows', Hermione accompanies Harry to his parents' graves. He cries and mentally wishes to have something to put on the graves. Hermione senses it, conjures a wreath and silently holds his hand throughout. It is this scene that sums up why these two characters have so many fans, even though not a word is spoken between them. The understanding and depth to their relationship has yet to be matched by another and it is this love, sexual or not, that we will remember and carry with us from this series.

If all this makes us 'delusional', as stated by a website's member who shall remain unnamed, then we'll proudly accept that term and take comfort in the fact that we never felt the need to trash people in front of the books' author just because their opinions differ from ours.

Last but not least, special thanks to actors Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, who portray Harry and Hermione beautifully in the movies and bring their magic to life brilliantly.

If you haven't guessed, there are going to be possible spoilers for DH in this post. Mainly because Portkey's shipping spoilers thread is flying through the pages with everybody talking about the spoilers. So, you know, there might be DH SPOILERS. I, of course, cannot comment on the reality of these spoilers (who can?) but if you're avoiding them then this post might not be for you.

Well, let's start off with a direct link to the 'spoiler' post. The site is loading slowly, everybody. There's currently over a hundred people on that thread ALONE. And at least one confirmed sock is there, too. ~.^

Okay! And the first response is... someone help me sort this all out...its too much for my brain to handle right now!

I think what aggravates me the most is that I simply don't get JK's intentions if it's R/Hr and Harry/Someone. I mean, if she really thought she could write H/Hr this close and not expect anyone to ship them, I'm sorry, but then we're not the delusional ones. What was her intention with H/Hr then? If Hermione was never meant to mean more to Harry than Ron, why constantly increase her importance? Remember the fish and the barrel? Doesn't shooting it sound like fun?

We take a short break into some 'replace Hermione's name with Ron in H/Hr moments and hahahaha, look it looks like Harry/Ron--we're not wrong! SEE!' fun. And then back to angst and anger.

I feel that if it goes R/Hr then I need something along a 'I'm sorry' from JKR. I know that she really didn't put us down in the IoD but I wasn't that impressed with how she dealt with it either. Why didn't she say at least something about it afterwards? Something in our defense. Did she really mean to put us H/Hr shippers, a good portion of her fan base, down that bad?

If it turns out RHr, I will REMEMBER everything she said in that interview and the whole truth will sink in--that she WAS laughing at us, in the worse way possible, and that will be it. Entitlement much?

But I have one ###### question for JKR. If you were planning on keeping H/Hr platonic, what was the point of making them so ###### close!?

Stan--long known to be a bastion of sanity on PK (by us, I mean) pops saying that he's seen a pagescan and it's real. A lot of people don't believe Stan--he's pretty much called a liar. Then he gives them the business. Or, in this case, a picture of the scan that he managed to save. Now, this picture was originally on a foreign language site and deleted by the poster within minutes and to keep anybody from getting into trouble, Stan deletes his too. But other people saved it and I've nabbed it. It's a scan of a chapter-title page with illustration (US).

Please note: I do NOT know where this picture originated. I AM NOT able to comment on the validity of it. This is MERELY a spoiler picture I got from the Harmonians. It will be taken down if, by some chance, I am requested to take it down.

Now, links. The original image. And... copy altered by NAPPA to show why he/she believes it is fake. In fact, NAPPA tells us about that image: I manipulated the the hue and saturation. i don't think the image stan posted was original. The name cropped seemed to suggest there was editing by him or someone else to remove maybe text below. But the thing is that the alignment of the chapter name on the next page is off. Unless I'm seriously mistaken that is not Grandpre. She never drew in a circle like that I don't remember her ever shading in her drawings for the chapters. They were always black and white outlines with the exception of when specific details were needed. But even then, her chapter pics were always simple. This is too detailed to be Grandpre.

Why is it that the next page has the chapter title not in the middle but to the side ?

I don't think that is an actual drawing. If you look, they look too real and GrandPre's are more cartoonish like. GrandPre also uses more shading in faces.

Apparently Emerson isn’t receiving as much hatemail and fangirling as he’d like these days. Earlier he made a post on Mugglenet to help rectify the situation:

I mean, really?

In other news, Scholastic has published the results of their fourth fan poll question. They claim a majority of fans - 56% - believe that Harry will end up with Hermione, 20% believe that Ron will end up with Hermione and 19% believe that Harry will end up with Ginny.

Um, was Scholastic polling people who have actually read the books? 56% of fans are wrong. Dead wrong. I quote JKR, in the interview Melissa and I conducted with her two summers ago:

JK Rowling: Yes, we do now know that it's Ron and Hermione. I do feel that I have dropped heavy hints. ANVIL-sized, actually, hints, prior to this point. I certainly think even if subtle clues hadn't been picked up by the end of Azkaban, that by the time we hit Krum in Goblet...

I would think it's difficult to interpret "Yes, we do now know that it's Ron and Hermione" and "anvil-sized hints" any other way, but apparently 56% of fans disagree with me (or just haven't read the interview... or book 6... or book 5... or book 4...). But then, many fans still believe Dumbledore is still alive, despite JK Rowling saying that he is "definitely dead." Come on, guys. Wishful thinking isn't going to bring him back.

Note that the question wasn't Who Do You Want to End Up With Whom?, but Who Will End Up With Whom?. There's a difference between wanting something to be true, and believing it is true. There is a word in the English dictionary for holding a belief without evidence, and in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary... I'll give you a hint, it starts with a D.

I'm going to sound crazy but I go to God about almost everything. After reading HBP and gawking at its awkwardness, I started to tell God how I felt so betrayed by the book and the interview. I also told Him how strange it was that I would get so fed up about someone I've never met.

Anyways, God replied back. He told me not to forget all the "moments" in the last five books. I was reminded of the suspicions of Krum and Cho. I don't know the percentages, but there are a number of authors out there who write things into their stories that are critiques of aspects of society. We've already seen JKR do that in the series (the issue of blood purity comes to mind off the top of my head), so we have every reason to believe she'll do it again when it comes to love and criticize modern societies lack of emotional depth in their relationships. Of course, I'm also a hopeless romantic.

I certainly hope you're right about this. This "cultural slide" away from the romantic ideal of love perfected by Jane Austen has been going on for such a long time. The 1960s and Cosmopolitan magazine and the sexual revolution and media bubblegum for the eyes have all shaped the values of a couple of generations. The pace of life itself has quickened radically from a "long way" being walking three miles from the Bennet house to Netherfield. Instant, visual media must "grab" attention with flashy, superficiality or get lost in the flood of images. My dad was in television for 40 years (from its inception until he retired in the '80s), and he always bemoaned the slippage of storytelling itself. Rather than carefully telling (i.e., revealing artfully) a story, television and film began to rely more and more heavily on flash to cover up the lack of substance. And our media-influenced society is shaped dramatically by this hit-and-run (or "slam, bam, thank you, ma'am" if you prefer) approach. Even books geared for children and young adults began to slide away from well-told stories of wonder that transcended the ordinary (think Chronicles of Narnia, The Secret Garden, even Huckleberry Finn) to garbage (my opinion) about super-ordinary people being super-ordinary in a post-modern, minimalist world. Not to ding ordinary people as subjects of books, but literature and all storytelling should take you somewhere you haven't been on your own. That could be Narnia...or that could be a different state of being. Just don't gave me Judy Blume! Her books could just be creative non-fiction textbooks on being ordinary.

When HP came out, it represented a welcome departure back to storytelling. Clearly, JKR relishes the art of the well-told story, the slow reveal, the clue-dropping and foreshadowing, the smokecreens...oh, all the things we love in an edge-of-the-seat movie or book or play. Look at us...we're sitting on the edge of the seat right now, and isn't that amazing? She has given us indictments of bigotry, greed, selfishness, etc., the things that plague society (and always have.) I have faith that the slow pace of character development and plot in HP bodes well for further indictments of the "slam, bam, thank you, ma'am" approach. She has said she wants to show people falling in love...and falling in love the good old fashioned way that we love means seeing beyond the surface. Beauty comes from within, not from some ideal thrown up for 15 seconds on a music video. I think Ron's quote in HBP about Luna is really revealing--he is really beginning to like her. In a rare moment of reflection, he is seeing beyond the wacky and into the delightful side of this girl. Of course he really does love Hermione, but he seems to be well on the path of falling in love with Luna. Her beauty is in slow reflection and in peeling away the surface. And JKR said it is important for us to see characters fall in love...and I think she means really fall in love over time, in the slow reveal of the classically told tale. Love is not a chest monster that comes roaring down the line; love is Emma going, "oh, OH, OHHHH! Maybe I blew it...it was Knightley all the time, and I took him for granted." The denouement will be swift, but the build up has taken forever. This is good storytelling. And I trust JKR to deliver.

On ARGH (something about hating H/G - ask sheep), Corbin Dallas states that something he hates about H/G is that there is no canon sex scene. Low-key sniping ensues (and Lysette makes a post without comparing HP to anything mad).

Meruhesae, however, decides to take things to the next level by calling Ginny a slut - always a good move.

And here I thought you lot DIDN'T believe that Harry sees Ginny as merely a sex object? Well, not surprising some people did think they had sex since they apparently never talked during their little outings--nice to know that Harry thinks Ginny's mouth is good for something. What else could they have been doing? Of course, the fact that Ginny was so quick to (apparently) jump in the sack with Harry and her crude remarks about Ron's "experience" suggests to me that she had to have been getting it on with Dean, too, so perhaps Harry's jealousy of only wanting Ginny to perform slutty acts with him was well-founded. [/sarcasm]

It's too bad the mods discouraged us from using We didn’t call Ginny a slut; Icky did as a thread title. Perhaps What About Jenny's Romantic Walk? would be a suitable alternative?

Others have used similar filthy phrases before, but somehow this brought a bout of disgust with me. Provide canon (from JKR's books, not some fanfiction) where Ginny jumps in the sack with Harry. Ginny's remark about Ron's experience are about kissing, KISSING, she's not saying that Ron needs to get a blow job or nor does it suggest that she's giving free blow jobs. Before you jump into conclusions that JKR didn't write, do consider reading the books first. I'm repulsed by such use of words, even if we are only talking about a fictional character. Do you refer to real people, especially woman, in such way? It is absolutely sexist and derogatory that just because a girl dates a few boys then all of the sudden she's on "her knees" sucking someone's dick. God Forbid, that she's only a person with a nice personality that is fun to hang around.

Dating isn't a sin and dating more than one boy doesn't make you a hore. I'm absolutely repulsed and ashamed that members of ARGH feel the need to use such language to prove their hatred to H/G. Statements such as on "her knees", "getting some" or like the one above just make me ashamed and worried that woman, specially woman, go to such low standards, just because they aren't getting their way. Is it not a wonder why there is still discrimination against woman? Not even among ourselves we can't seem to behave. I see this kind of stuff it makes me feel that we deserve what we are getting.

Furthermore you ask what they could have been doing. How about talking, gossiping, studying, wallowing in misery about the war or simply enjoying each other's company? No off course not! The only way that Ginny can get Harry is by spreading her legs or being on her knees sucking him.

What absolutely brings me to misery is that no matter how hard I tried, or how hard I want too, I can't seem to hate your Luna because of you're lot. I wish I could, but I just can't and that makes me want to kick myself. The Luna I know in JKR's books is Ginny's friend and is clear that appreciates her. The Luna I know in the books defends Ginny and would never say such thing about her, in fact she would be pissed. To think, that I imagined that ARGH had reached a new low when it compared H/G to Hitler/Eva. That comparison absolutely constricted my heart. The fact that thousands of people suffering to the hands of such repulsive human being had been tossed carelessly was hard to digest, and all just because someone wanted to prove who can hate H/G more. How low are you guys going to go?

Congratulations ARGH's between this and the Hitler/Eva I'm not just livid, I'm beside myself, but I guess that's what you wanted it anyway and I'm big enough to accept things like that. Kudos, you got your aimed and you managed to piss off a H/G shipper.

The ARGHers behave in exactly the mature, intelligent way one would expect from people who compare H/G to Hitler/Eva Braun. They troll her journal. Meruhesae returns!

Perhaps, GilyAnn, you should look at yourself before you accuse others of not being able to read properly. I was being SARCASTIC, hence my use of [/sarcasm]. My comments were not directed as an affront to Ginny or your ship, nor am I upset about the supposed lack of Evanna publicity—I’m actually quite pleased with everything I’m hearing about the movies. I am not sexist, and while I'm not a fan of Ginny, if you can find even one post of mine where I have EVER called Ginny a slut and meant it, I will cease posting in VENOM ever again. I was specifically taunting Corbin Dallas in that post because he came into a thread he has no business in and was being irritating. Even you all have to see that he was acting like a moron. Shipping H/G or R/Hr is like shipping the OTP of the Third Riech: Hitler/Eva!

In many ways Ginny is just like Eva, a pretty and convenient Beard for what is really going on. Eva made those not in the know think that Hitler was normal, when in truth he was anything but. Hitler was living on rice and pills, and did not eat in the view of others. Hitler was dying of Parkinson's. Stalin kept the burned up body, and an autopsy was done in the Nineties to confirm the Parkinson's and the actual cause of death. Ginny made Harry appear to be a normal teenage school boy to himself and the rest of the school, and that was no more true than that Hitler was normal. Eva and Ginny were both illusions of normalcy. But that is all they were, illusions.

You know, it's really creepy, the way that Hitler LI parallels spring to mind so easily when thinking of H/G (as Lysette noted!) Dating Harry seems to be the kiss of doom (Cho lost Cedric after Harry got interested in her, and you just know Voldy is going to at least try to use Ginny against Harry in some way,) and every woman Hitler ever actually dated (not just Eva but Unity Mitford and poor Geli Raubal come to mind) killed herself.... well, anyway. That's enough of that, and I definitely don't think that Harry is Adolf or Ginny is Eva. She's more Geli, if anything. But isn't it all so romantic?? :P

My point is that Hitler would have all these "perfect" home movies made of Him, Eva and whoever was visiting to give the illusion that everything was just picture perfect, normal to the German People, the Allies, that "nasty" Stalin, Japan and the rest. Dumbledore took that little bullet for Harry. So, now, unlike Hitler and Jim Jones who both had someone else kill them to avoid their fates, Harry decided to not take their cowards way out, and face his fate head on. Just not with his "Beard," Ginny Weasley -- the modern Eva Braun. The Ideal Girl of an indifferent guy who doesn't care.

Since it's been almost a year since they were active, the brief history: gloatation is an OBHWF sockpuppet who quietly catalogued H/Hr shippers' assertations and predictions for a couple years before HBP, then leaked the LJ during the HBP aftermath. gloatation has a major axe to grind. But damnit, they find funny stuff. Feb 16: The return of Gloatation is about current Harmonian predictions. Par for course glurge. You all know how those go.

I'm mostly pointing to the second post, though. Feb. 18: Everything I Ever Needed to Know About Romance… ...I learned from the Holes thread at Harmony Forever on Valentine's Day! Read and weep over how JKR is destroying the future marriages of our children. It's all very personal and angry, but hands-down, the most hysterical quotation is this:

Flucias: I have often rationalized away the Heron arguments as made by pretty much kids, children who have had no clue as to what love really is. Ah, we can't fault them; they are clueless, having had no real or meaningful experience. It was alarming to discover that quite a few of the people sprouting that rubbish are adults. I shudder to think of the quality of their lives, romantic or otherwise.

I don't want to hope for the ending that I feel is best and which is the only logical conclusion (IMO), because I don't want to get invested in this series again. But at the same time, there is the undeniable fact that Miss Rowling is the mother of two daughters. And not only that, but she is a divorcee. She has experience with a relationship that failed at the highest level (matrimony). For her to put this stuff out there as the final word would not only be utterly irresponsible, but hypocritical as well, and detrimental to her own female children [Not to mention her son! "Like a girl? Then, hey, treat her like crap!"]. If only for the sake of those two girls, I hope that that isn't what she is doing. Because imagine your own mother promoting such a relationship to you as what R/Hr and H/G promotes?

I'm starting to honestly think that maybe all of Ginny's book scenes really weren't filmed. I still can't believe that there's no Harry-Ginny interaction of any kind in the film, though, since there actually was some in the book. So that begs the question: why haven't any pics from it been released?

...now that it's been cleared up that the Goyle picture is actually from GoF, suddenly it's not important any more. Thus sayeth Anise:

We're building a case for our point of view, namely, that H/G was an awful relationship, and, for a lot of us, that it will not start up again in DH or be the final pairing. So JKR wrote on a statue or something. Some fans are shocked and appalled at this criminal behavior, but the folks over at Portkey are seeing it as solid evidence of the truth of Harmony.

catwork is deeply moved by JKR's act: I have to say that this (Hermes bust) can not be accidental. When I read that article it gave me goose bumps and a definite saddened feeling for the author and her journey these last ten years as well. It is so poignant that she ended her story and what we believe influenced the author with how it began with well researched symbolism and alchemy.

Jeanas wonders: What would the Heron said about the Hermes bust ?, and October has some theories:

redshoes: [in reference to a GoF scene in which Hermione "flushed pink with pleasure" when Fake!Moody tells her she'd be a great Auror] In the second passage, there are 2 bits of possible alchemical symbolism. Moody's magical eye is one of the candidates we've discussed as an all-seeing eye. It rests on Hermione and perhaps sees her true nature, her destiny--as a person being transformed into gold (Aur-or). Then she flushes pink. What other color could she flush I suppose? Heck, Riddle even changed his name to sound more "Norman French".

So if Harry were to "marry" his opposite, it would make sense for the reconciliation betweeen English/French, a well known feud between the two, which JKR has shown in her works via the antagonism against Fleur (The pairing could be symbolized slightly with the Bill/Fleur pairing, albiet probably not because William is the name of the first Norman French King of England).

However, the Weasleys in my opinion are the connections to the Welsh/Celtic heritage. Harry the English, and Hermione the French.
