May I Please Speak to the Complaints Department ([info]ladybirdsleeps) wrote in [info]i_wank,

Cute widdle baby wank.
This is a very small wank, but I'm proud of it. Deoridhe posted a meme that I created on her journal here.

Cowboy_r, an apparently humorless man, objects to the "Disconnect this person's internet" aspect of the joke: "There are some things that you shouldn't jest about, and in my opinion, censorship is one of those things." At one point, the lovely Shoiryu insults cowboy_r, although no one but cowboy_r is sure how.

I have yet to weigh in as I post this, but the temptation is growing ... growing ...

Edit: [info]shoiryu has just pointed out that he took this to his own journal, where I couldn't help but reply.

The HREF pointing to the particular journal post ends in """, so it's not qutie correct.

And once again, I love your Utena/Pinky-and-the-Brain icon.

Fixed it. I think. My eyes were crossing until I saw that I left out a quote mark.

Myself, I am immensely curious as to what his motivation is for speaking in such a pompous and inherently formal manner. He speaks so scathingly of we who "jest", and one must wonder whether or not this fellow is capable of communicating in a more colloquial fashion.

In other words, damn, what's this guy's fuckin' problem and why does he talk like he's got a stick up his ass?

To make it worse, that particular layout looks like... well, arse... in IE5 Mac, so every single comment on that post had:

one
word
per
line
like
this.

I tried reading it all and gave up. It makes my head spin.

*giggle*

I admit that sometimes I speak write formally when engaging in debate, to the point that I have to consciously insert colloquialisms so I don't sound stuffy. Then again, I'm constantly being accused of being stuffy, so I'm used to it. I didn't even notice that his comments are so formal.

Not to be semantic... but isn't trying to get someone to stop jesting about censorship defeat the purpose of arguing censorship in the first place?

My ass wears a perky little hat for revvoice.

I found it amusing that he thought he was censuring me. Perhaps this is just the history geek in me, but I don't feel at all censured.

Nah, he was censuring me - which as my friend is his right. Well, which I consider his right, since as far as I'm concerned I'm a poor friend if friends can't tell me they disagree with me. 8)

Censur + e

You might want to add the "e" in there--I just looked up "censur" in the OED and the definition I got was "a leech." Unless the guy really *is* leeching off of you... ;D

If he'd lived in the eighteenth century he'd probably have tried to get Jonathan Swift locked up for advocating feeding babies to the rich.

Humor impaired. So sad.

!!! I almost used Swift as an example while replying to him, but decided against it, since I really wanted to discourage him from branching off into an argument about how A Modest Proposal is Different.

(Apart from being infinitely better-written and having actual social commentary embedded in it.)

I just don't understand that guy at all. I'm almost tempted to ask him what the hell is WRONG with him but I'm not sure I have the intestinal fortitude for a prolonged immersion in his unlogic.

Please don't. He is an upright, interesting guy, but honestly if my mocking him a little is enough for him to claim I'm trying to be "part of the in crowd," I don't need this kind of high school drama.

And actually... now that Tiffany has arisen, I'm finding this whole thing hysterical again instead of painful. I was pretty upset over it last night; I don't like loosing friend-aquaintances over stupid shit and I'm going back over my conduct to see if there's anything I would change for the next time (I don't think there is, but I'm running it by a few trusted friends to make sure I'm not turning into an unreasonable bitch), but it's the internet. *shrugs* It's not as serious as some of the other stuff I won't get into right now (since I'll break several Jurisimprudence laws to do it. ;)

In any case, please don't feel guilty. 8) I'm a grown adult; I can piss off my friends on my own.
