Fight heckling with tl;dr!
I'm tangentially involved in this thing, but mostly it's just one guy going on...and on...and on...

So a couple of days ago I was looking through Youtube, and found a video of Gabe Saporta, lead singer of that band who did that song with one of the Gossip Girls, going bugfuck on a heckler at a Kansas City concert. Basic paraphrased rundown: Someone gives the band the finger, Gabe responds by saying, "You're sixteen, you're fat, you're ugly, no girls will talk to you, go jerk off to pictures of your mom." And I, being the clear-headed person I am, decided this was worthy of posting to the LJ fan community Daily Gabe Spam.

The residents are shocked and appalled.

It would have ended there, but unfortunately, Gabe Saporta is a friend of Pete Wentz, and thereby the fourth wall does not exist. So what would be the best way to respond to this situation?

How about a ten page blog post about it?

Highlights include:
-"I am not trying to argue that the incident was a pleasant or a positive one. Nor am I saying that I’m proud of having done that. But I am not embarrassed of it either. And I won’t apologize."
-"If someone came into my house and tried to bring harm to my family, I’d stab them in the face with a kitchen knife without thinking twice. Our show is my house. My family is our band, and our brothers and sisters in the crowd. And my tongue is sharp like a knife. Sorry. I did what I had to do."
-"We have to listen to our emotions and we have to be true to them. Unfortunately, we can’t decide whether they will be emotions with good energy or negative energy. But what we can do is express them fully and immediately. And thus we purge them, and rob them of their ability to control us. Sorry to get all life-coach."
-"In all honesty, being “misunderstood” and perpetually criticized has been a good thing for me, because it has forced me to really evaluate myself on the deepest of levels. To the point where I am nowso confident in the knowledge I posses of the person I am, that I have no shame in allowing you to see all sides of me."

DGS responds! Some more positively than others! Cue Gabe editing his post (and posting a comment) to directly respond to LJ comments.

And then he takes it to Twitter, where he digs up Youtube links of Billie Joe attacking someone in 1997, blames the hubbub on his accent, and compares himself to Jesus.

The comments on the blog post are extremely hard to navigate and almost overwhelmingly positive, but notable for Gabe continuing to get defensive whenever someone raises an objection, including going to the point of tracking down and posting someone's email address and encouraging fangirls to shoot to kill. Which is unfortunately just par for the course for Gabe. Frankly, I'm expecting him to show up here eventually.

But really, all he wants is to be surrounded by love.

My thoughts ran down a similar path to yours. I am sad now. :(
