"Disconnect this person's internet" updates.
A few days ago, I posted about a wee little wank that was spawned by a meme that I created.

The meme uses a graphic that spears the imaginary user xxbabii_gurlxx -- or, at least, imaginary until some smart-ass who wishes to remain nameless, may she be forever showered with Pocky, registered the account. The account was suspended almost immediately, which was a crying shame because there was some screaming glorious wank in the comments on her entries.

(The reason why the account was suspended is irrelevant to this wank, but funny nonetheless. When the owner was asked by one of the smarter commenters in her journal why the account was created after the meme, she said that babii_gurl was her old journal. This violated the "don't you go pretending to be no one else" clause of the Terms of Service. The funny part -- the girl who owns babii_gurl's name is TIFFANY.)

The suspension had two effects:

1) No one can see that xxbabii_gurlxx was an obvious troll.
2) No one can see the account creation date.

You can see where this is going.

Enter eurisko97 ... defender of the innocent?! You may remember eurisko97 from this post in lj_biz, which had the distinction of making LJDrama. Eurisko97 is notorious among developers and volunteers who frequent the LiveJournal-related communities as being an arrogant [insert derogatory term here].

I'm not sure which is my favorite part of this wank, how he tells me it's wrong to mock fictional people, or how he calls callie_chan's criticizing of his English "linguistic symbolic violence" and then turns around and criticizes mine (erroneously, I might add).

Edit: eurisko97 now claims that "I actually have a theory of linguistics all my own, which will probably get my name around in a few circles in two or three years hence". Ooo-k.

I didn't think I said it was wanky! But when flame wars turn to grammar and dueling definitions they make my head hurt. I think you all should stop and do something more entertaining, like insulting each other's hygiene and sexual tastes.

I love the way he throws Sapir and Whorf around, considering that a lot of people no longer take the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis seriously at all. And Chomsky's one of those names that everyone knows.

*shrugs* He may call me dishonorable for inadvertently implying he's a dumbass where he didn't see it until later at which point he interpreted it in the worst possible way, but I don't see his opinion as a reason to act with any less honor than I have. Our disagreement doesn't make him any less of an upright, honorable man; in fact, it's that very stiffness that lead to our not being able to get along. That doesn't make him a bad person, though. 8) Indeed, he acted according to his highest moral compass. It's just a shame his higher moral compass includes a huge stick in places where sticks should not be permanently lodged. ;)

And now I've insulted him behind his back again... whoops. I'd tell him, but he doesn't want me talking to him anymore. 8)

I'd have to say that if he were to call you dishonorable that not only does he have his head up his ass, but he doesn't really understand what honor is.

If it counts for anything, in my book you've acted with height of honor.

Man, don't I sound pretentious.

Well... I think some of it comes down to different definitions of honor. His honor includes Sacred Chaos. My honor is primarily concerned with integrity. One or the other is not necessarily superior, though mine allows for more latitude, but they are somewhat incompatible. I do appreciate your opinion, though! It's nice to know that someone who doesn't really know me still thinks I behaved appropriately.

It was my pleasure. *courtly bow*

Anyways, some of our ideas of honor seem to match. So it wasn't hard for me to see it from your PoV.

*grins* Well, I suppose that's part of the issue, rerally. Points of view. Actually, I did a post about the increased sense of intimacy in relationships in my livejournal shortly after, mostly in response to this; Cowboy_R felt more intimate with me (in the agreeing-with sense, not any other sense) than he might have otherwise because we were the same religion, so I think it was twice the shock when we had a difference of opinion - especially in a matter such as honor (which is rather important to both of us). If you're interested, it's here; though ignore this if this reads like a total "pay attention to me" bid, as that's not what I intend at all!

Just out of curiosity, as someone who has no idea how JournalFen works beyond the obvious similarities to LiveJournal--are there any particular benefits for getting a JournalFen account? Since I already have a paid account on LiveJournal, it seems kind of redundant to have a journal here too...

Unless I get extra icons, of course. Icons are fun.

For starters, you get wayyy more icons if you have a paid JF account. Seriously, I have, like, 50 now, and I've never had trouble adding new ones at all.

Second of all, there's the whole F_W circle, which is filled with incredibly cool people. So, yeah.

Writing has 3 important parts: learn the rules, then break them where necessary. Making random mistakes does not make you the English messiah. Misspelling listen is not a bold new step for man.

I can't be convinced this isn't just a troll. Disregarding posts because they contain insults when all of his do as well, saying he has no time to reply while wanking on at length, claiming intellectual superiority to the point where his superiority cannot be explained or fathomed! His little icon is even of a pretentious looking guy--in South Park style! Come on. One hand is gesturing very impressively, but that's just to draw attention from the one down his pants.
