6:37p - Nazis! Now Without Godwin!
At customers_suck, fivecentschange posts about being somewhat freaked by a customer with a swastika tattoo. People are sympathetic until unreal asks "So all he did was stare at you?" and myriadwhispers accuses fivecentschange of bigotry. Apparently swastika tattoos can mean you're Buddhist or Asatru or had a fucked up youth and we should be terribly sympathetic; plus, it's not okay to be bigoted against Nazis!
I reply rather snippily that, first, if your religion leads you to ignore that ninety percent of the population associates a symbol with *genocidal racism,* you are not so much spiritual as fucking stupid and, second, there is a difference between "I don't like that guy because he has dark skin" and "I don't like that guy because he belongs to a group that advocates killing minorities."
At which point ratsicle jumps in to defend her friend. Apparently she lives in Dallas, and nobody there gets at all agitated by swastika tattoos--I'm not touchin' that one--and I must be terribly small town.
Golly, you big-city people and your worldly swastika-acceptance. It's enough to turn a girl's head.
