Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
in which Hnk reports a rather juicy wank:
The OP herself comments "This is very long and very wanky so make of it what you will.". No, actually, it isn't wanky. It is mockable, but that is in no way the same thing as wank. Another common mistake that people (especially LOTRippers) make is thinking that playing a prank on someone, or a disagreement is wank. [fap]

in which Hnk combines the power of gentle mocking and explaining to engage the wanker:
You speak of FW condemning it's subjects as "unacceptable expressions of fandom", yet you consider Rachel's comments (and FW itself!) to be just that. Saying FW contains no internal hypocrisy is of course untrue, but on FW people attempt to realise their hypocrisies and laugh at themselves for their behaviour. You OP at least makes some attempt to do this, but your later comments involve no such awareness and it for that reason that people have a problem with you and for that reason that you are on FW. Whether you will accept that or not. [fap]

in which Hnk (or ******?) gives herself over to the dark side, becomes those she mocks and completes the circle of wank:
And see what you're doing here? You're mocking something which you view as strange (and you use "creeped out" again like you did with Esorlehcar, I'm hoping ironically) - that's no different from those nasty FW overlords. You talk of being horribly upset by being "being shredded by strangers on FW" so you chose to encourage your flist to do the same on your LJ. I like that you've been dragged down to our level, makes me feel all tingly in my pink parts. [fap]

I've seen wanks that were justified, but many that were little more than lemming-like bullying perpetrated by people who like to be part of the crowd.

...justified? Perpetrated? And here I thought it was all about the mocking. *fidgets uncomfortably* Does this mean we have to read wankers their Miranda rights and offer them Free Intraweb Lawyurs before we can mock them? Is there going to be a Wank Court of Appeals? And where are the Fandom Wank: Criminal Intent and SVU spinoffs, dammit?

Richard Belzer plays Detective Munch on SVU. Orbach was Detective Briscoe on Law & Order.

Wasn't sure since I didn't watch L&O enough to keep everyone's names straight.

Hi! (Either JF or my email seems to be slow on the comment notifications.)

Did you get to the con in April? I had to duck out Saturday night and then I don't think I wandered around much on Sunday because I was feeling blah. Sadness.

:-) I was in the Miami airport waiting for a delayed flight a few months back when I remembered I had the Law & Order: Trial By Jury pilot on my laptop and decided to pass the time by watching that. I didn't have any idea Orbach was in it, and when he appeared, I actually started crying. And okay, in my defense, I'd just had a hellish week of 16- and 17-hours days with hardly any time to eat, much less sleep, and I was a complete wreck, but mostly I just missed my Lennie. Amazing how the death of people you've never so much as been in the same room with can affect you, isn't it?

Mmm, yesh. Don't forget Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe (although every time I watch Criminal Intent, I still see her as Shirley from Oz.)

Although I'm still undecided as to who would be the better mocker: Goren, Munch, or Tutuola.

Ahh, Oz. I have never seen it, but I don't think I'll even be the same after seeing screencaps of Christopher Meloni opening up his ass.

Oddly enough, CI doesn't catch me as much as the other L&O series do. I watch it every now and again, but SVU is one of those TV shows that, if I see it on TV (and it's pretty much on one channel or another every hour of the day), progress halts. No one may touch the remote. It is Benson&Stabler time.

It's funny that Munch is a character Richard Belzer played on Homicide first...

And Tutuola and...what's her name, the black female detective that was on SVU for a while... Dammit, I can't remember her name. Anyway, both of them were from Homicide, too. Did you ever see the crossover episodes they did with Homicide and Law & Order? The plot wasn't all that interesting, but the interactions between the characters were priceless.

I don't know why CI draws me in like it does; I just like the way that Goren thinks, I guess. Much of the time, he's too smart to be believable, but I still like him.

What I don't get is why Homicide got cancelled, when L&O just got a million spin-offs and a contract that continues for millennia. I mean, s7 of Homicide wasn't great, but it beats L&O any day. MY OPINION!

Same here. There's no...personality to it. The male lead runs around solving examing scenes like a cross between Encyclopedia Brown and Sherlock Holmes, and the female lead just stands around asking "How can you be sure?"

The one good thing: It had Olivia D'bo -- the voice of Tak on Invader Zim -- as the psychopathic identity theft Male Leader had a hard-on for.

Do we have to push them off? I thought they did a fairly good job of plummeting over all by themselves.
