Submitting the Rule of the Internet Op-Ed: A statement of fact, no matter how obviously incorrect or idiotic, cannot be subject to challenge if it contains the words "my opinion." The right to free speech makes such statements more valid than statements with actual proof.
And the Evening News Corollary: If your "opinion" happens to agree with a story you saw on the news, that's a valid data set.
The penalty for following this rule is to listen to a tape of Ben Stein reading off census data, county-by-county, with neither sleep nor food nor drink until it's finished.
