'You Were An Idiot Over the Internet' Does Not Remove Said Idiocy
Inspired by this comment.

The Principle of "Deflecting The Claim 'You Were An Idiot Over the Internet' Does Not Remove Said Idiocy. Unless You Have A Time Machine, At Which Point Things Get Interesting."

If a wanker says any of the following after it having been reveled to wankers that they’ve hit F_W, OTF_W, or any other such brethren:
- "Well, if they wanted stupid, they could devote an entire forum to me."
- states that "Blogging software is so out of date!" and/or "No one really cares about LJ anyway."
- “It’s a sign of the degrading state of our society that such a site exists.”
- Attempts to make a list of things wank reporter should add, noting all their qualities that stand in opposition of reported wanking.
- Claims the report quotes things out of context and thus mars the meaning of one’s profound statement
- Unknowingly invokes any variation on Snacky’s Law
- Accuses F_W members of being hypocrites

Are to receive one “Do No Get Out of Wank Free” card, which states:
“Do not get out of wank free. Do not pass Go, nor collect 200 Internet Dollars. You’ve been an idiot on the internet where everyone can see, and your self-effacement, reverse allegations, dismissal due to lack of Internet relevancy, accusations of misquoting, and bemoaning of the sad state of the current society cannot change that fact. We’d feel sorry for you, but we’re too busy being mean and setting stuffed animals on fire to care.”

EDIT: [info]frequentmouse's Corollary: Admins who lock wanky threads after they are reported to F_W only succeed in making the entire forum look as idiotic as its most clueless member.

Well, I could see that one being true (except for the profoundness, cos this is still the internet). For example, the wankstorm in my JF a few days ago, if reported without the context, would make me look insane, hypocritical, and oversensitive.

Not that every time someone says they're out of context it's true, just that I think it's possible.

That really does sit on the bubble, honestly. Sometimes it does happen, but those kind of wanks just tend to be of the "The higher the character count is not the same as making yourself any more right, proper, and/or correct" or they involve wank on a very person to person level.

My main argument against removing that, though, is that I really feel there can't be a loophole. (Note: I'm surfing the wank you reference now, and these comments aren't based on that) I know when I've said shit that was really out of proportion in regard to the topic at hand, and in the end I know I have to own up to being an idiot. It's the embarrassment factor I'm targeting. With anything, people on average tend become embarrassed when someone calls them on being unreasonable, offensive, or just plain illogical and try to avoid owning up. So they claim it was misquoted, that we're marring their meaning when really, they just don't want to admit to themselves they were, in some cases astoundingly so, stupid in public.

But that's also just me. I'm not big on letting people get away with not using their grey matter for any reason. It's just a law of the universe that everyone will be an idiot on a grand scale at least once in their life.

So in the end, I'd edit it if there were a way to make it loophole-less, but I can't come up with a wording that would work.

Except that if it gets posted, unless there is something behind the scenes, the poster tends to make sure that it's wanky even in context.

Mind if this mousie makes an icon of that line?

(Not to mention interfering with my study of the life-cycle of wanky threads)
