Oh gods, I despised those so much. As pretentious and faux-archaic as Virgil was in the Aeneid, I never found it nearly as annoying as Cicero. Most of what we know about Latin grammar comes from him because he delighted in using the most obscure, verbose constructions he could find or make up. I maintain there are some things that were never used by anyone else.

That was a wildly off-topic rant, but I feel better.

	but I liked Cicero I had fun trying to figure out what the hell he was talking about half the time, and our professor used to give us exercises where he'd turn the periodic sentences into individual ones and then make us recombine them. Trying to get the right rhetorical flourishes was fun. Latin poetry, in contrast, made me want to die. (Reply to this)(Parent)
