The moral of this story is: always have a camcorder going when confronting the Scios. Not only did it (apparently) get Sean off the hook, it looks like the bullbaiters might be getting in trouble. If it wasn't for the video it would have been his word against their's... and we all know what happens then.

I say this because I was part of a group of Anons doing fliering as well as a little picketing a few days ago, and out of that group of eleven only two of us had cameras, and only my camera could do video. We didn't get bullbaited (much), but I think that had more to do with the weather (hail/pouring rain for two hours straight) then anything else. I was surprised how few people had cameras with them. :(

Agree 100%.

I went to a planning meeting this weekend which ended up not actually meeting, and because of crossed wires, I wound up fliering outside our org with only one other Anon. A bullbaiter came out, and neither of us had a camera. I'd left mine at home because I wasn't actually planning on going to the meeting that day; now I'm going to take it everywhere because you never know when something might come up, and considering the Scilon fair game/stalking policy, video proof could be critical.

I think phones are a must-have, although I don't carry mine very much. If you get into serious trouble, or if you're alone and being followed, a phone can potentially save your life, especially since most cell phones have auto-emergency dialing.

They may not be so great for documenting, because most phone cameras are still tiny and grainy. But I know the DC protest on 3/15 had a live feed via iPhone.

I guess it's like carrying a wallet: if Scilons nick it, it can be traced back to you unless it's disposable, and most disposable phones aren't going to have good cameras (if they have them at all). And if you keep phone#s/emails/addys/etc. on it, do you want Co$ to have those? You have to decide what level of risk is acceptable.

	I always carry mine (I figure the danger of having my cell is outweighed by the advantage of having a back up camera/video dohicky), but some of the others didn't want to have theirs due to traceability issues. I may not take mine on 4-12 because it's always easier to pick pockets in a crowd then when it's just a small group of Anons. (Reply to this)(Parent)
