I can haz info on Anonymous, plz?
A notorious USENET troll has decided to take up residence under the bridge that is alt.religion.scientology and ask all the members of Anonymous posting there to pay a toll.  Now, he wants to pay for information on all the deadbeats who are stiffing him.

I want information on the members of "Anonymous" and will pay
handsomely for it.

Mail me. We'll work out the details. I could spend a 100K dollars
on this without even noticing it, so don't worry about being
cheated. 1000 dollars minimum reward. Used twenties. Mailed to
any address and any name.

And I will not attempt to track down anyone who supplies me with
information: Valuable sources are just that.

Come on! You know that there is someone in the group right now
who knows who you are and is mailing me.

Better beat them to it.

It's your only protection.

Absolute confidentiality guaranteed.

This obvious troll generous offer immediately attracts mocking, beginning with the first response, which links to the Uncyclopedia page on Anonymous.  More mocking can be found in the rest of the thread.  It also attracts a counter-troll upon which the intended quarry bites eagerly.  Meanwhile, the  Anonymous on Enturbulation begin to plot a disinformation campaign.

Not all is LULZY about this poster, though, as evidenced by this discussion of another of his posts.

ETA: He also spammed the /xenu/ board of 711chan.org with this ridiculous offer.

Here's a thread about this troll and his aliases: on ARS. Apprently he became known for spamming about (his own crappy) anti-spam software.

He even has an FAQ that describes that reason for his infamy and many more, including his adventures with Bigfoot, his hot date with modern-day Xena, his stories of living in a non-existent commune in the mountains, and his predictions that future computers will run by clockwork. Yes, he's quite the loon.

Speaking of his lunacy, he now claims to be a consultant for the Church of Scientology. There is great LULZ in response.

Finally, his behavior has attracted the attention of an old-school USENET snark community. The kookologists of alt.usenet.kooks have him on their February ballot. He's up for five awards.

Maybe that's how he got them in the first place.
