So in [info]asperger, someone asks for suggestions on how to get along better with NTs (= neurotypical="normal people").

[info]adamosity thinks that separating things into Aspies and NTs is profoundly stupid. Not much there yet, but knowing the people on the comm it could explode in wank at any moment.

Stop having my disorder. You're making my disorder look stupid.

Given that there are many other disabilities, conditions, syndromes and illnesses that could render someone less than "normal" on some scales, that really is quite a silly distinction.

Yep. I'm really not taking sides on this one. On the one hand, the OP seemed to just be asking for hints on how to accomplish everyday interactions without embarrassing herself, or just how to deal with people in general, and god knows everyone in that community (myself included) needs those. But on the other, the us-and-them mentality in Aspie comms is just feckin' scary.

I peeked around the comm out of curiosity (I can't resist seeing something referred to as "just feckin' scary", ever) and came across this:

-- The NT community as a whole considers it not only legal, but imperative to torture autistics into hiding their neurological differences from an extremely young age.

WHOA. So who qualifies as NT again? Because I certainly don't agree with that statement in the slightest.

Truly, this is a community founded on wank. From the userinfo:

As I just said, I want to keep this open membership but due to the obnoxious NT trait of thinking that guidelines they don't want to follow, don't exist or can be twisted to mean something completely different, it may have to become closed membership. RAAAAA!

Yes, because people without Asperger's are TEH ENEMY!!!11six

I have mild Asperger's, but I wouldn't touch this comm with a ten-foot pole.

And cos, liek, NORMAL people are the only ones who evah think that they don't have to follow guidelines and all that. *snert* It's like... reverse... illness-ism. Or something.

Institute for the Study of the Neurologically Typical (http://isnt.autistics.org/), which I'd find funny if the people actually adopting the word "neurotypical" weren't, well, retarded about it.
