And lo, so collides [info]customers_suck and bulimia.
Over on Customers Suck, anghella posts to ask if people who work at buffet restaurants are supposed to do anything to stop bulimic girls from binging and purging onsite.

WTF-eth-ness ensues, complete with attempts at detective work, a lengthy argument back and forth about whether the OP is bulimic or not ('she didn't say she was!' 'but she hinted at it!' 'but she didn't say!') and more viewpoints on eating disorders than you can shake a hot dog at.

And I'm not sure if anyone actually answered her question.

I suspect that the girl doesn't get enough nutrition for her brain to properly work, what with the "This is who I am!" attention-whoring further down the page.

Short answer to her question? No. What exactly are buffet staff supposed to do, make a huge scene because OMG someone's puking in the bathroom? There's always a shitload going on behind the scenes that people don't know. Are they going to prevent someone who has the flu or food poisoning from running to the bathroom if they feel really sick? This girl probably just wants more attention paid to her for being so speshul.

Makes us recovered ones want to put them out of our misery.

I know that in some retail establishments, people have been banned for chronically screwing up the restrooms. If one were a messy puker, and on top of that were eating way more than the amount typically expected, they probably wouldn't have much incentive to encourage repeat business...

Also, given that I've been to buffets where they charge extra for food left on your plate, I should think that bulemics would incur an extra charge too.

I wonder how many times you have to screw up the bathrooms for them to ban you. I can certainly see if you caused something to pretty much explode...

I don't think I've ever been to a buffet like that (and there's quite a few here in Vegas though they just charge the money up front), but I'd think that the anorexics would get charged more. Bulimics eat and then purge; anorexics tend to play with their food and make it look as if they're eating.

See, this is all the more reason to just eat normally. You don't get banned from places, and you don't get charged more for leaving food on your plate.

*shrugs* I've never heard of it either.

Usually I get the vultures for waitstaff who grab my plate while I've gone to the bathroom, no matter how much food I had on it at the time.

I'll have to agree with several of the posters and call troll, but I've heard of this (binging in a restaurant and then purging in their bathroom) actually happening before. O_o
