For it was the whole 'I love to sit and watch them eat' that set off my 'Oh Shit' alarm. Mainly cause watching little kids eat doesn't seem like it'd be that thrilling. I mean I could almost understand wanting kids to eat healthy snacks instead of cookies or candy, but watering down the formula? 	Yeah, but pedophilia is a sexual attraction to prepubescent children. This is some fucked up control thing, but there's nothing sexual about it. I don't think it'd lead to her touching any of the kids, if that was her thing then why not go there first? And it's not like starving a child is the way to lure it into a sense of security. Even so, withholding food doesn't equal a proclivity towards molesting children and I don't think there's any real connection between the two things. There are many ways to exert power over people and things and I've never heard of a pedophile witholding things to get into a child's life. First off, someone needs to learn the correct definition of the word "pedophile". Holy shit, seriously. Holy shit. The fact itself that she's not letting the kids eat their lunch when they're at daycare isn't the worst part (one hopes that the kids get a good breakfast and dinner at home anyway, which they most likely do if their parents care enough to make sure they have a lunch), but I can't imagine that it's very good for them to start thinking that it's bad to eat a full meal. E-FUCKING-GADS! Obviously it's a troll, since it's been baleeted, but geeze. That's just scary to think that someone would even think of something like that. I work in childcare, and we do have a food and nutrition poilcy, but we do not deny food to the children. Sometimes it's hard enough to get them to eat at all, especially toddlers. Man. I'm just blown away. I pretty much know it's fake, but still. I can't imagine anyone at my work watering down formula. It's almost basic knowledge for people in the industry that children NEED fat, unlike adults who don't need it as much. If I found out someone was doing that, I'd go straight to the room leader/director. Fuck. At the very least they wouldn't be allowed near the kids food. (Reply to this)(Thread)

Erm... why does everyone seem to think this post is obviously a troll's work anyway? I don't think the idea of one psychotic woman actually starving the children in her care to be that implausible at all. Obviously, parental/authority figures control the lives of children in various disturbing ways: making them stay only in certain areas, forbidding them to talk to certain people, requiring them to wear certain types of clothing, etc etc etc. One major area of control that parents/guardians have over children is deciding what the kids will consume. So obviously, it only makes sense that some people who want to assert their superiority over children might do so by restricting their diet to an unhealthy degree. How can children fight back against that, after all??? So I see this post as one that more likely than not does describe a real situation where a child-care worker does abuse her charges, especially since this worker is describing her actions in a matter-of-fact, unspectacular way. And even if this is a troll... there are certainly cases where children have been starved, and there's always going to be a real-life counterpart to this woman somewhere. (Reply to this)(Parent)

Okay. This one got to me. Even if it's a troll (which I'm not so sure of), it got to me. For the last month or so, I've been working hard to get my baby girl to eat more fat and carbs, because for six months she quit growing. The endocrinologist told me that some babies just take a growth break, but she also opined that Boo was gobbling up the veggies and fruit to the detriment of her fatty carby high-calorie helps-the-kid-grow stuff. So, for the last couple of months I've been, at the doctor's suggestion, putting half-and-half into her whole milk, canola oil on her veggies, upping the offerings of pasta and bread and potatoes, and letting her have the occasional fry or Cheetos. (Yes, Cheetos. My husband made a joke about feeing her Cheetos, and the doc said, in all seriousness, that they were, in fact, a good source of calories. WTF?!) I mean, here I am stressing out trying to coax my kid to eat fries and Cheetos and milk that's half half-and-half, and this...person is trying to starve kids that I can't help but think might be Boo.
