The Return of the Knitting Wank
What is it about the [info]knitting community on LJ that attracts so much wank?! I never thought I'd be bringing a third wankfest over here, and yet, here I am.

It starts off when [info]neau posts to the [info]knitting community, asking how she can graph a picture onto a pattern for a sweater for her mother. The picture in question is the W stands for Women ad from the George Bush campaign. Minor wank ensues in the comments as valid questions about making the sweater (such as, what if Dubya loses in November?) are met with snarky replies from the OP, and her friend [info]everybabyweeps. The first sign of trolling? A comment about knitting pom-poms for the mother is met with the reply, "LOL, knit pompoms would rock. She could use them when she rallies against homosexual marriages. !".

At this point, it becomes blatantly obvious to the moderators that [info]neau and [info]everybabyweeps are simply trying to stir up trouble in the community. [info]ew_yer_creepy proceeds to ban both of them from the community, not just because they were stirring up trouble, but because upon further investigation into [info]neau's journal, the mods found out that [info]neau and [info]everybabyweeps had actually plotted their post to [info]knitting beforehand. The mod took two screencaps of the two of them plotting - apparently someone from the knitting community insulted [info]neau's cat, so she decided to troll. (I'm not kidding people, I couldn't make this shit up if I tried.)

But wait! The wank doesn't end there! [info]sorrows_crow, who is a friend of [info]neau, refuses to believe that [info]neau would do such a thing, and accuses the mod of photoshopping the LJ comment images. The entry from which the comments were taken has since been friends-locked, leaving the mod with no physical proof that the comments are real, except, of course, for the screenshots, and the fact that [info]neau did exactly what the comments said she would, and trolled the community. But that's not good enough for [info]sorrows_crow, who basically says that the whole thing is a conspiracy against [info]neau, and that she won't believe anything without actual proof.

I'd like to remind you all that these people participate in a hobby that involves long, sharp, pointy objects. Be afraid folks, be very afraid.

The best part? They're repeat wank offenders. This is only one in a series of spectacularly catty knitting wanks.

I have no journalfen account but here be more knitting wank: http://www.livejournal.com/community/knitting/1981072.html

Someone cross-posted. OMG DRAMA! Platys calls them an asshole, then denies it. Or something. Its entertaining, if not a little repetitive.

Damn, I was going to post this.

Yeah, neau also ranted on about those filthy h0rs who call themselves knitters but work in the porn industry and make knitted lingerie. Real knitters knit wholesome items for family members and friends and scorn lingerie.

i USED To be her friend, until this post..

You also used to be a member, until this post. Funny how that works out.

Hee hee hee hee hee! This is hilarious. I don't know who's funnier stupider, goregoregalore, sorrows_crow, or the random Bush-loving troll who thinks that banning members who trolled with malice aforethought must be Bush-bashing.

I had a chat with my cats and both of them told me they can fight their own battles, thank you very much. They also would like to announce to the entire human race that they don't really care what we think: just fill the food and water bowls, empty the litter box, and frequently scratch them right there, yesyes ahhh... then go away.

Exactly. And if her cat actually felt insulted by a knitting community, then I would imagine her cat would post for itself.

This is so completely why I left the knitting community. I'm still amazed that [info]ew_yer_creepy is such a heinous mod, considering that back when there was a poll about whether there should even be a moderator (for quite some time knitting didn't have one), she was one of the people who said it shouldn't have one at all! What the hell? *shakes head*

Ha! I remember the poll about whether or not we should have moderators, but I don't remember her being against it. Very interesting. ;)

Yes! We have sharp objects and are not afraid to use them! Once we get them untangled from the yarn, ph33r us!

I saw this and thought "wank" immediately. I weep for my hobby.

Well, I suppose it's for the best that they meet online. If they met in real life, those needles could cause serious damage.
