[info]lemondelicious makes a post about an experience with really creepy guy who mistook burn cream from whipping cream and tried to eat it off of her hand. She managed to stop him from putting his hand in his mouth.

Some people comment that perhaps getting a mouthful of nasssty burn cream would have taught him a lesson about personal space.

And [info]immortal102100 is offended that he's the only person who dares think of the poor cream-licker who might have been taught a desperately needed lessonbeen poisoned.

Fav. quote:
Just because you're smart enough to know not to do shit like that, or just because you respect other people's space doesn't mean everyone knows that, and it doesn't give anyone, ANYONE the right to let someone do something like eat burn cream.

That's right! We now don't have the right to let people do dangerous things.

As non-idiots, it is our moral duty to save idiots from their own stupidity, rather than letting them get Cloroxed out of the gene pool by the Cabana Boy of God.

Okay!

Mine too, at least when I'm taking public transport and some fucking tourist adorable out-of-towner is standing on the left and making me pass them on the right.

People who don't know enough not to put the body parts of strangers into their mouths are likely to find themselves in more dangerous situations than ingesting a little burn cream one of these days.

Besides, I seriously doubt ingesting burn cream would have killed him. Made him blow chunks, perhaps, but nothing fatal.

But it's the cashier's responsibility to care for the welfare of some strange, creepy guy who felt the need to eat stuff off her hand!

Prescription burn creams like Silvadene have sulfa in them (I don't know if this was prescription or not) but even the first aid kit ones may have something someone's allergic to. But *what kind of freakburger grabs a stranger's hand and tries to lick something off???* If he even got a case of numb mouth from benzocaine, he deserves it. And if the ambulance got called because he's wheezing/turning blue, wouldn't that be a helluva story, especially if the paramedics/EMTs were asking staff just what exactly happened.

Yep. Who knows if a brush with death would have managed to teach the bonehead a lesson. But at least it would have been satisfying to watch him get rolled out the door on a stretcher.

Now lets just pad all the tree so little Timmy won't hurt himself if he runs into one.

Heh heh- one of the parents I babysit for expects me to do practically that- she was indignant that I had no sympathy for her child after he'd been kicked by a child going down the slide while he was trying to go up. (This was after I'd explained to him that rules at the park are there to help him not get hurt, but he just had to test it.)

Oh good lord. I hate lj martyrs. "But hey, I'm starting to learn how much my opinion is hated here so I'll just shut up now."

Please. Do.

God. It isn't necessary to respond to every single person who doesn't agree with you.

I know- that was the attitude that turned it from a mild disagreement into Mega-wank. There should be a jurisimprudence law about that.

I checked. Nowhere in the bylaws of life does it say I have to prevent stupid people from hurting themselves. It's a voluntary act performed on a case by case basis.

In this case, I'd have let the rampant licker get what he paid for. Some lessons have to be learned the hard way.

And, the lesson of the day is: Know what and who you are licking.

You have to wonder how many other people he'd done that to and NOT gotten a mouthful of chemicals.

Yup. We have NO RIGHT to not pad people in bubble-wrap and put football helmets on thier heads to make sure they don't hurt themselves.

Actually, it would be pretty funny if a US Presidential candidate proposed the BubbleWrap solution for the nation's rising medical costs.

How do you want to bet she's the sort who believes that there should be signs saying "Do not jump off bridge" and if they're not there, you should be able to sue if you jump and injure youself?

Christ, the stupid burns. Stop getting in Darwin's way, woman!
