"Killing" yourself to win an argument.... also not just for fandom anymore....

So over on Internet Infidels they're discussing the problem of evil... again.... (I will note that one of the problems with a board devoted to topics that thoughtful people have mulled over since the beginning of civilization is that you encounter a LOT of pre-beaded ponies.)

Anyway, a relatively new member named Hayleysred pops up. Really, as Christians that bother showing up to Infidels to fight go, she's doing pretty well.

Then one night, after drafting (on paper, so it can be found by relatives later) a reply to the thread that invokes the specter of "Jeffery Dommer", who believes himself to be good, she steps out. And gets killed, as her brother, posting through her account, informs the net, by a "Dommer"-style serial killer in ways "that cannot even be discussed." This monster is caught, psychologically profiled, and that profile shared with the family in time for her brother to tell us that the killer espoused "the very relativism she argued against" two days after the alleged killing.

Not that any of this makes the news, that any of us can discover.

A certain amount of skepticism ensues. (see second half of the page, from the fifteenth post downwards.)

(Of course, if you're from Southern California and you do know of any "Dommer" style slayings of 21-yr-old girls, please let me know... I'd hate to have my first wank turn out to be an assholish wanking-of-the-(actually)-dead.)

	Um, the last time I checked "psychological profiling" did not include relativism inventories. Man, there are so many holes in that story that I cannot even believe anyone on that board took it seriously for two seconds. She might as well have claimed to be kidnapped by aliens. (Reply to this)

Bitch, please. That would be a lame plot mechanism even for a dimestore novel.

Though I do love how people who go to such lengths to invent "real-life" tragedy don't consider that other people can use teh pwr of teh intarweb!!! to check their "facts."

Probably because they're all fucking bonkers, but you know. It amuses me.
