Another student has apparently committed suicide by jumping from an NYU building. The rumors are flying on the NYU community as people express their disbelief, until I Eat Vegans makes light of the situation and tells them they're a bunch of spoiled, white-bread hypocrites for making such a big deal about this when there are people starving in Somalia. The OP takes the troll bait and overreacts.

This community is a gold mine for wank. You'd think college students would be more mature. Really.

Oy, vey. What a mess.

(You may want to link to the actual thread at the NYU comm, tho... it's http://www.livejournal.com/community/nyu/791017.html. Currently, it just links to the main comm page.)

Is he whining about access to a free printer? Now that is spoiled.

And again, 'stop whining already. Be glad they don't charge students to print'. I love how you think. Perhaps we should tell rape victims to 'stop whining already. Be glad you aren't dead'.

Is there a jurisimprudence law for that?

No fucking kidding, we had to pay for our printing throughout Uni, and the way the print queues were set up you often ended up paying for someone else's work. Pssh, FREE PRINTING. Myth!

or that some pissy-ass IT student cancels because he's EVER SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than the other people ahead of him in the queue.

I usually make a dive for the office supply table when that happens. Funny, my hands always seem to find the sharp scissors first.

When I was there, someone fell in not-on-purpose. He was drunk and apparently mistook open air for solid ground. I always thought he should've had some consideration and accidentally walked in front of a bus instead; at least it would've spared the body-recovery people the hike.

But then he would have traumatized the bus driver, and maybe some passengers too.

I do believe I recall that. Unless it happened more than once, which is also not improbable.

A few people fell in this year from hiking and climbing incautiously, but only one of them died, I think.

When I was at Chicago, there were five suicides.

The worst was the graduate student who shot himself in one of the little bathrooms in the stacks area.

No one will go into that one, to this day.

Suicide is a part of life, you're not the only one who understands that.
