A bit of Mock the Stupid wank
Not big nor veyr dramatic but entertaining none the less.

First, there's an entry about mockable people in a Mexican restraunt.

thecrimsondingo chips in on how she deals with dumb people at restraunts.

Not wanky yet.

thecrimsondingo adds in another story but this one's about how a famiyl brings screamign children to a retsraunt very late.

opalcat thinks that was not needed because she thinks the kids weren't out that late.

conuly joins in after thecrimsondingo makes this comment and it goes on for awhile.

Basically, it's people arguing about how kids should go to bed earlier or go to bed late.

Wow, I didn't know "being in a grumpy mood" automatically justified being deliberately obtuse. I'll have to remember that.

You better qualify that statement unless you want a deliberately obtuse grumpy Conuly to tell you what for.

Dude, isn't this like the third time Conuly has popped up here?

We forget that Conuly is the Ruler of the Fucking World and automatically knows whats best for everyone.

Want your kids to stay up till midnight? Sure no problem who cares if they're overtired and acting like banshees on Coke?

Who needs those pesky 'rules and boundries' anyway?

She's wanking hard in the mock_the_stupid thread on the homeschooling mother who pulled her kid out of a class offered by a museum because there were homework and tests, too. She's also not the only one. Someone whose login I can't remember is wanking just as hard on the opposite side of the issue. (Which is "Homeschooling sucks and will produce nothing but 40 year old fry technicians" versus "Homeschooling is the source of all that's good and right in the world, and by the way, the mockee wasn't being stupid" in case you couldn't guess.)

If anyone has enough energy, it's definitely funny enough to report here. I probably shouldn't, since I couldn't resist dipping my toe in the wank stream.

In a community devoted to wit, it makes me sad that not a single comment in that thread made me smirk. Most of them just made me think, "Aw, they're trying so hard..."

This makes me sad. :(

Since when do screaming children in a restaraunt at any time of day or night equal anything but irritating? Why is it a debate over bedtime? It should be a debate over "please keep your screaming childen where I don't have to hear them" and other such things.

Because that would be equally wanky and mockworthy. For instance:

Traveling with an infant on a plane is pleasant for parents, and the ear slitting caterwaul of a baby with an ear ache sitting right next to them is something they're immune to. None of them travel with a baby because they have to, and they're not mortally embarrassed when half the plane glares.

Those "Fuck it, I don't want to wait two hours for the babysitter to show up. I'm hungry and haven't seen the sky for days in my world of diapers in baby stink, and three hours of sleep. We'll go out for half an hour and get a non-strained pees based dinner." are totally selfish, and should be relegated to leper colonies so normal, non-breeding peoples don't have to hear them.

Damn. I could use a cigarette.

[wank]

I do not have children, and I did not sign up to raise anyone's kids, so I should not have to hear them misbehaive in public so that mom and dad can get some tacos and fresh air. Such is the price of being a parent - you actually have to raise the kids. If you can't figure out how to get them to behaive in public, you need to go home and try again before seeing daylight. I did not get knocked up, I should not have to be punished for anyone else's decision to reproduce (nor should anyone else in a restaraunt, movie theater, store, plane, ect, where screaming children are not typical ambience).

Before the age of two, crying is never misbehaving, and nothing short of horse trancs or a firm pillow to the face will prevent it from happening.

If raising kids means that someone needs to get across the country with one, then, since the world doesn't revolve around you, they don't have to change their life just because it annoys you.

You shouldn't have to be punished for the decisions other people make, but guess what? You are. You don't get the parking spaces you want, you don't get every government official you want, and sometimes, someone dares get a taco with their kid without your permission. Life is rough, we live in a world of tears and regret etc.

Absolutely.

So, do you ever think back on your own infancy and the time or two that you screamed in public and annoyed the hell out of strangers and just cringe at how irresponsible your parents were to take you out of the house?

Oh yes. I sit in a corner and angst over how awful I was, and curse myself for not being born out of an alien pod at the age of 18. Damn my parents for procreating, damn them!

(Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

[info]zillahcross
2004-09-11 02:29 am UTC (link)
Nope, not for procreating, just for taking their child out in public before the age of thirteen.

Oh, wait, some teenagers are just as obnoxious as some small children. So maybe we should just keep 'em inside til their in their thirties?

But, no, that won't work, either. I know just as many thirty-somethings who can't behave themselves in public, either.

Haha, I bet it is. I think most of my anger stems from the parents who drop their clan of children (extremely young) off at my complex's pool, and then either fall asleep and ignore them, or leave entirely. Not only does it make me freaked out and paniced over the welfare of the children (one had to be rescued from drowning by a gardener last year), but... my lord, the noise. Endless cries of "MOOOOMMMYYY, ALLEEXX ISN'T SHARING THE BAAALLL! MOOOOMMYYY!" ... but mommy's conked out on vicaden, she can't hear you... *twitch*
