Gay. It's the new black. Except not so much.
An anonymous commenter pointed the following out to me. Enjoy.

Msscribe makes a post stating "It's time to get black, gays!"

There's a lot of "Yeah! You go, sister!"

But of course there are those that disagree...

And those who get wanky and tell Msscribe "Basically, you look like a white chick so what the fuck do you know?" (since Msscribe explains in her first post that she's passed for white before)...

And the obligatory "It's a choice to be gay!" post.

Five pages and counting.

When Nancy ([info]darkrose) first got here, we thought we'd live apart for a while. She looked at a sublet situation but the girl who would have been her housemate obviously didn't want to share a place with a dyke. There wasn't any other reason, there was no interview and they hadn't talked enough to discover personality conflicts or staggeringly different interests or living habits. It wasnt' racial because the other girl was at least part black. But when Nancy went to look at the place, I went with her. We weren't all over each other or in your face about it, but we were obviously girlfriends.

It's nice that you feel you can get what you want out of life and still be in the closet. Good on you. But not everyone can and msscribe was saying that if we want to effect change we need to let people know that aside from the gender we love, we're just like anyone else. And we can't do that if we're invisible.

Uhm... since when is Annabelle Lee in the closet? I know she's a lesbian. I'm a total stranger. I think that counts as not closeted.

Apparently, there are people who know and love her. That's not invisibility. That's not closeted. I don't see how being politically active or not has an effect on whether she's open about her sexuality or not.
