Gay. It's the new black. Except not so much.
An anonymous commenter pointed the following out to me. Enjoy.

Msscribe makes a post stating "It's time to get black, gays!"

There's a lot of "Yeah! You go, sister!"

But of course there are those that disagree...

And those who get wanky and tell Msscribe "Basically, you look like a white chick so what the fuck do you know?" (since Msscribe explains in her first post that she's passed for white before)...

And the obligatory "It's a choice to be gay!" post.

Five pages and counting.

It'll get overturned pretty fast since it's very much against the consintution.

People are scared by what they don't understand and changes can't happen over night human nature doesn't work that way.

You'd think that, wouldn't you? With the current "moral" administration, I highly doubt they'll lift a finger to uphold the Constitution unless it's violated by something they find "morally" wrong.

Except that the Supreme Court (in most cases, when they're doing their job correctly) doesn't look at morality, they look at constitutionality, and in general they're pretty damn strict about only looking at that.

And, really, if you think about it, when it comes to the Supreme Court, then throwing the laws out would actually be considered more conservative than keeping them, because it's the stricter interpretation of the Constitution that going to get them tossed, while only a far more liberal interpretation would allow them.

I honestly believe that the Supreme Court is going to throw down a Roe v. Wade thing once this gets there. It's just the getting there that going to be the big pain in the ass. So, really, it can almost be seen as a good thing that so many laws got passed against it, because it'll make it just that much easier to get to the Supreme Court, really.

Yes, I'm being an optimist. So sue me. *sighs*

A strict, literal interperetation of the constitution has always been a liberal 'thing', and has been since Jeffersonian times. The point of it is for there to be less laws, and for the government to be less involved with private citizens.

We are very fortunate that there are Republicans who are pro-choice. It's going to be an interesting few years.
