Wild Dogs and Southern Men
issokay enlightens the stupidpetowners community: "it's not dangerous, it's not cruel [to leave a dog in the back of a truck in freezing weather]. what the heck do you think dogs do in the wild, go out and buy a heater?"

He then proceeds to spam the comm with pictures of his pets.

Hu? I would say that dogs in the wild do the not-being-dogs-and-having-a-pack-to-cuddle-with thing.
But that's just because I keep forgetting that the whole evolution thing did never happen, I guess. ^_^

Well, I know for a fact that if my dog took over the world, the first thing she'd do is outlaw American football*, which would be fine by me.

Also a dog in the wild could theoretically find or dig some kind of shelter for itself, and thus keep warm by getting out of the wind and being able to take advantage of its own body heat.

A lone dog strapped to the back of a truck with metal or plastic all around it would not be able to do that. (Could possibly duck down out of the wind, but the metal/plastic wouldn't do much for helping to preserve the body heat).

Plus it depends on the breed. A husky is going to deal better with cold than, say, your average teacup Chihuahua.

So this guy's ate up with the stupid no matter how you slice it.

Generally as being below the Mason-Dixon line, but more specifically meaning TN, NC, AL, MS, GA, otherwise the Deep South.
I only meant that, at least as far as my experience goes, intelligent Southerners never seem to stay in the South very long, and I know for a FACT that where I come from (smalltown mid-NC) stupid IS bred for. Not on purpose, maybe, but it still happens.

Well, there are stupid people in the South, just as with every populated region on this planet. It's just that painting the entire region thusly is...well, quite insulting. Given your reply to Sep above, I suspect you're describing small-town provincialism, not stupidity. It's something you'll get in small, less-than-prosperous burgs throughout the country where people don't have much prospect for affordable higher education or cross-country job markets and live out their lives in one place (check rural impoverished former mill towns in the north-east or isolated lumber/cattle towns in the north-west to see the same thing. And so on.)

Your average Southerner -- and your average Floridian, for that matter -- considers Florida to be distinct from the designation "the South"...it's considered a cultural distinction rather than a geographic one.
