Sweetie, questioning me is a waste of my time
In another entry in the "If you don't agree with me, you're stupid (or a sexist pig or a useless woman who lets sexist pigs rule her)" files, we have [info]ginmar's take on prostitution. The wank comes in when people disagree with her argument that prostitution is teh ebil and must be BANNED FOR LIFE. These threads quickly quickly devolve until the only rebuttal left is "your reading comprehension sucks!" or "stop wasting my time!"

It just wouldn't be a complete wank without an anonymouse, now would it?

And I fail to see how paying someone for sex will somehow lead to objectifying their entire gender.

I agree. We all objectify people to some degree, it becomes a problem when they can't see women/men as anything *but* objects.

And the person who has this problem probably has much deeper underlying issues that need to be addressed.

Seeing a hooker won't cure them, but it won't cause a normal healthy person to suddenly turn into a emotionless psycho either.

See, I could see how it might lead them to objectifying that individual, but not an entire gender. And even then, it's strained.

It's kinda like how some people with hired help will see them as people who just happen to work for them, and others see them as near-slaves. It's all in the individual, and it's not the fault of the person who's working for them.
