And the girl, accused of murder (so it seems -- I can't find where everyone is getting their info) decides one of her priorities is posting to LJ. And the comments...they're like the on-line version of Lord of the Flies meets Brave New World.

But I think we're witnessing one of those fabled sudden leaps in evolution, specifically the evolution of Internet Whoredom. It's like, pretending to be a girly-man on the run from the IRA and possessed by the spirit of a fictional midget while defrauding "doctors" is so primitive. Internet suicides are passe. So now the next logical step is matricide (skipping over parricide and avuncularcide.) Soon we're gonna be witnessing Internet Whoredom on a level undreamed-of by such amateurs as little_needle (okay, she's probably dreamed, she just lacks the talent and intellect to realize those dreams.)...

A vision of things to come, as befits a prophet: The pale young wanker stared at her computer screen. It had been almost 2 hours since she had been wanked on F_W, and she knew people were forgetting about her even as she skimmed through her f-list. Even LJDrama never mentioned her anymore, and her fandom had stopped bothering to beg her to keep her clothes on, or at least lj-cut the pix she posted.. She had just been in a flame war over whether Legolas died while giving birth to Hermione, and whether Frodo had put the One Ring on in a last ditch attempt to hide from MsAllegro. She had lost badly as her opponent had pulled off a particularly spectacular performance of Internet Whoredom. A sense of desperation filled her as she realized that she had commited suicide 17 times in the last two years -- people were beginning to stop caring. Her Internet Lawyer had effectively been disbarred during the whole "sue George Lucas for not only raping her childhood, but giving really bad oral sex to her late teens." The whole "murder your father and sleep with your mother" ploy was a tad too complicated for her tastes -- she tried to read Sophocles for inspiration, but it was all Greek to her. And she was not only an orphan, but actually living in a ghost town, thanks to that bad period in August where she couldn't get attention from the BNFs in any other way.

She sighed and started open the folder on her hard drive containing her Internet razors and Internet Overdose of Birth Control Pills, figuring that she could at least do an Internet Overnight Stay in the Hospital. The pointer hovered over the icon, and she was about to click, when a burst of inspiration hit her!

Quickly, she opened AIM and contacted her bestest Internet friend in the whole world, a mysterious figure known only as AIMbot. Luckily, AB was on, so she typed out a frenetic message: "Hey, u no how noone commits intrnt suiside nomore, well i have a idea thatll make me more pupular than orchyd and mSa put twogether (what a yucky image hahahah). i'll finally beat that bitch who thinks Legolas couldnt get pregnant, she just posted that the pope came to her in a dream an sed she wuld die of gingyvitus (sp?) if her frendslist dind't send her 20,000 ipods buy tewsday plus BuffytheVampreSlayur gave her the mange. Butt i have an idea thatll beet even that and need ur opinun. Heers my plan..."

She typed for several minutes, the inspiration washing over her. Finally she was done. AB was silent, but she knew s/he was overcome with awe. She typed in one last thing: "ok u can have the moviee and book rites butt im keeping the internet rites for me. See you soon , after i win the Internet." She logged off and started working.

The next day, the collective shriek of hundreds of thousands of despairing fangirls filled the air as the girl's plan was revealed. Her last reply to her opponent, which read, simply: "You're right. You convinced me" was wanked in F_W under the title "Internet Whore Acts Rationally." With a collection sigh of total disbelief, Fandom_Wank collapsed into itself, its implosion a final gesture of acknowledgement for the brilliancy of the girl's utterly-unprecedented means of achieving true Internet Whoreishness

The whole "having the right to eat" and being grounded for only getting a B+ is familiar. With me, it was accompanied by not being allowed outside because people would tempt me to the devil and being screamed at by my mother for daring to break the chair leg she was beating me with by covering my face with my arms.

Familiar don't mean nothing, and don't excuse nothin. Just... yeah. Wondering if there's more going on.

... ::shrugs:: I do think murder in this case is a bit extreme, but I'm not her. I'm not going to defend her because she does sound overly callous and hypocritical, but...

If anything what she implied was true, there's a good chance we're looking at mental, if not physical abuse. And that can seriously skew with one's perception and emotions.

If she had her mother killed for whoring her out to people, and other forms of sexual abuse, I'd not find any problem with that. And I strongly suspect a good deal of you wouldn't either.

Emotional abuse is also one of the hardest things to prove because there's no physical evidence. Especially for a teenager. "Oh, it's just the angsty teen phase, you'll grow out of it." (which is what I got told for years while suffering from severe depression that persisted and did not get treated until my late 20s.)

Maybe she had other ways out. There often are other alternatives. But like with suicide, there are times when someone who is in an abusive situation who has their abuser killed... it feels like the only way out.

I'm not looking over the rest of her journal -- I don't have time to go dissect everything. But don't discount the level of fuckedupness abuse, especially over a long term, can do to someone.

Frankly, there are people who ought to be killed out there. Child rapists are at the top of that list.

This isn't wanky as much as it is sad.

I went through some of her entries, and there's one where she talks about how sad she is about her aunt dying. But when she talks about her mum in her last entry, there's no sense of regret or grief, just "she was murdered and my computer's going to be gone."

I don't know if it's wanky, but combined with the crass comments on her final entry, it's definitely trainwreck-ish.

I think the wank is more in the 38 (and counting now, whee!) pages of replies than in the actual 'having mummy killed because she beats me' stuff.

Although, yeesh. Seriously fucked up much? Everyone involved sounds like they need a sound thrashing about the head and shoulders region.
