More StupidPetOwners wank! Yey!
A lady decides to bring a five week-old puppy home. Apparently, eight weeks is the correct age to bring a puppy home (or kitty or ferret actually). Who knew, right?

Well, [info]becky_h knew, dammit! And she says in no uncertain terms that the puppy is DOOOOOOMED! And it just devolves from there.

Oh, but it doesn't end! Because Becky then runs over to Stupid Pet Owners to bitch about the indignity of someone else getting angry that she was being nasty to them. Apparently "I disagree with you and will not let you dictate my personal decisions" now translates to "I am a moron".

And the wank starts all over again, because the lady in question is actually a member of [info]stupidpetowners. And I'm not touching that one with a ten-foot pole.

ETA: Sadly, it looks as if the link to the fun start of the wankage is gone. ;_; Oh, NOES! However, someone was nice enough to bitch about it, in-thread.

ETA teh second: [info]becky_h was kind enough to supply us with the deleted thread of saddness ;_;. It's an early Christmas present! :D

I gotta say -- for the really-extensive F_W coda -- that it's just not really an official pet wank until tviokh's incredibly wanky ass shows up. It's nice to see her take a break from the Potterverse on occasion, but, seriously, did she perform some sort of Frankensteinian vivisection on a pet vampire bat or something to gain her special wank echolocation powers? Cause she doesn't do this in deleterius.

"Next on Animal Planet... what if we gave the abilities of animals -- to humans?! We'll show you, on 'The Most Extreme Wankers'!"

No shit, man.

I'm frequently amazed at the level of wankiness that pops up over there. People on that comm can get amazingly condescending over some of the stupidest shit - mostly the dog owners. Maybe this is because I'm mostly a cat owner (with a ferret on the side) and they don't have the same rules as dogs, but if I see one more person get indignant over crate training, leash laws, or some breed-specific minutae, I will spork my damned eyes out.

Also, I am enjoying the little Santa Hat icons. :D

They ARE incredibly wanky. I post there occasionally but have been afraid to mention my own pup much- because I bought her from a pet store, and as we all know the fact that I bought her from a pet store means I HATE PUPPIES AND LOVE HOW PUPPY MILLS TORTURE ICKLE BABEEZ!!!11!!

*Sigh*

Yeah, reading this wank made glad that I'm a cat person.

To be fair, it's somewhat understandable for large or bully breed dog owners; every time a poorly trained, poorly socialized example of one of our breeds freaks out and eats a toddler takes us one step closer to our own beasties being unfairly banned or seized. Still, flaming someone on the internet to a crisp because they ask if using a choke collar is a good idea isn't going to counteract that.

I only discovered stupidpetowners a few weeks ago, but have been enjoying the pure spectacle of it ever since. I love it when the rodent owners mix it up with the snake people. :)

I have a theory that the more time you spend in pet communities, the surlier you become. It's a degenerative condition. Tviokh in particular was probably doomed by all her time spent at Practical Pet Care, which has some of the most brain-meltingly dumb pet owners around. I mean dumb like "My dog has been bleeding from every orifice for two weeks, what should I do," "can i breed my cat and geaineaa pig, i want kitty pigs. lollorzorzz," or "do u have a home remedy for death?" Really dumb.

Of course, that's no excuse for wanking, but it might be an explanation. I'm afraid it's a short path from "Here's some helpful advice" to "Never own pets again! I will cut you!"

I keep telling myself to get out of my pet communities while I still can, but I can never quite kick the habit.

[turns head to the side to look at this a different way]

Buh?! So, because you don't know something, it's right to be automatically attacked for it? I think Becky dearest was really untactful, ergo, no matter if what she said was right, her rudeness cancels out the message.

To be honest, if I did the same thing and someone bitchily told me how much of an asshole I was and how doooomed the puppy was, I'd tell them to fuck themselves with the nailed side of a two-by-four.

That was my take on it. She basically came out of nowhere, flew all over this girl's shit, backpeddled a little to say it wasn't *her* she was bitching about, but the stupid people who think baby animals are cuuuuute, then resumed being flamey and nasty. The OP even calmly addressed her the first few times, asking why she was 'yelling' at her.

This is prime grudge wank (on her part, not mine) if ever I saw it.

Word. No matter how good of a point she was trying to make, being a gigantic bitch has just caused the OP to become super-defensive and not even want to find out whether or not her puppy will be okay or not.

I'm surprised that most of the rage is going toward the one who bought the puppy, but not the dumbass breeder who illegally(?) sold it to her in the first place.

Well, since it's actually illegal in her state to take a puppy away from its mother at less than eight weeks old, and [info]mintbritchick was apparently (according to now deleted posts) fully aware that she shouldn't be taking the puppy home at five weeks, I think that [info]becky_h was completely right to take her to task. It was an irresponsible action that may well cause problems as the dog is raised.

Since the original threads have been deleted by [info]mintbritchick (she's apparently deleting all criticism of her, which is wanktastic imho), I don't know what tone [info]becky_h used to tell her that she'd done something irresponsible, but really, ignorance should not be a get out of jail free card when you're talking about a living creature (and it turns out that she wasn't even ignorant -- she knew better, but went and did it anyway).

So I'm firmly on [info]becky_h's side, here.

I'm not gonna jump up and yell "IT'S ILLEGAL!!1!" at the girl for the simple fact that over 10,000 people in New York City and California break the law every day by owning ferrets, and it doesn't mean they love their pets any less - and you don't see anyone on that comm taking them to task for it, either. And she *didn't* know it was illegal, from what I could see. They pointed it out to her, and by that point she was so defensive that all she could come up with was "Well, it's legal in other states!"

[info]becky_h wasn't being nice, either. She basically came out of nowhere to tell the girl that she was WRONGOMG, argument ensues (from what I can tell, mostly brought on by Becky's tone), Becky posts to StupidPetOwners to bitch, etc, etc. And it's not that I disagree with what she's saying (although I'm sure exceptions can be made, just like with everything else), it's just that she was being a grade-A wanker while she said it.

Although, yeah - I'm a bit peeved that The OP went and deleted the wanky bits. >_

I'm not sure about this woman's circumstances, but I had to take my cats home at 5 weeks, because I would rather have to give them more care for a while than have them neglected in the home they were in. I mean, in my case, the people fed the cats when they felt like it, and everyone in the house smoked a pack a day- the poor kitties were wheezing for the first three days I had them. It was a trade-off in my case. But it was a good one, because three days after I took them home, I heard that their mother was hit by a car while foraging for food across the highway.

Of course, she could have just wanted an ickle puppy NOWNOWNOW!

Woah, I didn't know there was an actual wait period for taking dogs away from their moms. I just bought my first dog, (Usually we just... well, they fall into our hands under mysterious circumstances.) a 12 week old Chihuahua and he's pretty tiny as it is.

Which makes me sad. :'(

(She basically jumped into the thread I posted the link to and used a pretty hostile tone to tell the woman that the dog would be poorly socialized and needed to stay the other three weeks with mommy. The reply was "Why are you yelling at me?" and then the wank started flowing)
