I call attention whore. When I've planned suicide, I never told anyone about it. Doesn't mean he might not be actually suicidal, of course, but the journal's either a stunt to stir up drama or a cry for help.

Either way, LJ's pretty much obligated to hand over all the contact info they have on this dude to the authorities, aren't they? He's explicitly stated the intent to kill himself.

If it was just an attempt to stir up some shit, I'm sure he'll enjoy his very likely visit to a mental hospital. If he really is just sincerely that depressed, I hope he's got the rare good fortune to encounter a decent and helpful therapist through the experience.

I vote hoax. In a few days we'll get an outraged post from a ~~sockpuppet~~ family member claiming that he off'd himself in some grue manner and boy, weren't the posters OMGSOMEEEN! to Suicide Boy. If they were just a little nicer, they could have saved a life but, NOOOOO!

Now he be dead from lack of the exact kind of attention he wanted.

See, this is why I loathe SA. It's like one big contest to see who has the fewest limits.

Isn't expecting a higher power to intercede directly in your suicide sort of... selfish? I mean, if the higher power isn't stopping SIDS or AIDS or starvation or even other suicides, then thinking there's any chance it would stop your own fully cognizant choice to self-destruct seems to be saying your life is more important.

While I'm tempted to say it's a setup considering how godsdamned fast the SA Goons swarmed onto it... ... I don't know.

I'm not getting a clear signal off it; too much static being thrown in by the intense, vicious hatred getting spewed forth by the SA goons. I can't tell if the bleakness I'm feeling is from the journal or from my own disgust at the commenters.

Attention whore or not, experiment or not, fake or not... NOTHING excuses the trolls from SA for their behavior. Nothing. It is beyond reprehensible.

Well, he's been threatening to do this for years. I said " Look, if you're gonna kill yourself do it already and stop bothering me." At least I'd respect the guy for accomplishing something.

On one hand, yes, most people who seriously are suicidal are gonna keep it quiet, only telling reeeallly trusted people if anyone at all. On the other hand, it's pretty fucking stupid of people to assume that everyone who honestly feels suicidal is going to behave exactly the same way about it, and if someone doesn't behave in that exact same way it must be fake (also, keep in mind, the internet gives people a feeling of being anonymous...they may attention-whore about stuff online when they're keeping everything a secret in real life, because people are dumb enough to think that everything on the internet no matter how serious has zero consequences/is not real). Even people who normally are capable of seeing in other than black and white say, "If they really were, they'd have just killed themselves already." A person can really, truly want to die, and still be terrified at the same time, or feel so horribly guilty about upsetting other people with it. There can be all kinds of conflicting emotions and motivations, and it's not that fucking simple.

Also, in kinda the same vein (ha ha ha) here's a quick lesson regarding self-injury, for all you dumbfucks who just don't get it, including the fucking PROFESSIONALS who are supposed to be HELPING PEOPLE and still don't fucking get it:
1. Suicide is not the only motivation for cutting yourself. A whole lot of people who self injure are very obviously not making a suicide attempt and are definitely not suicidal.
2. Attention is not the only motivation for cutting yourself either, dimwits. Yeah, all those self-injurers who go to great lengths to hide it are just trying to get attention. You goddamn morons.
3. Even if someone IS flaunting it and acting like an idiotic little pretentious goth-emo-teenie-whatever, if someone is actually hurting themselves there is SOMETHING WRONG.
And telling people to kill themselves is FUCKING LOW.
