Someone's giving up two cats and post about it in the Denver community here.

And on the Internet, there can never be anything about pets, ever, without causing wank. The inevitable ensues. I think my favorite comment so far, though I can't quite decipher it, is:

If i had things my way. id leave the cats, and take the people who attack those who... dont feel the love... id lock you all in a small wooden box , attach jumper cables to your nipples, and proceed to jolt you with about 450 watts of pure electricity and tell you... My isnt it wonderful being a lab test gone wrong. but then again these bleeding heart insipid little children find a value plastered on a television screen and all the sudden they are the self made martyr they have wet dreams about. Get a real friggin hobby and stop bullshitting your way throughlife with your fake ass causes and go do something.. i hear they need burial detail in asia at the moment.

I think it means that because of the tsunami, all of humanity has to stop caring about everything else and fly over to Asia to bury people.

And my city's been so wank-free lately, what with nary a riot on NYE...

	Um. The hell? I couldn't imagine moving and leaving my cats behind, but they're looking for a good home. One of my cats (amusingly enough, adopted through an LJ community) had just been dumped by her former owners when they moved. Now that's cruelty to animals. (Reply to this)

	I really like the OP's defensiveness when asked why he/she is giving up the cats. Well you're right. I'm a crap owner. Go hug a tree. FYI - You don't know shit. I'm wondering why no one has asked the question, "So if you're giving away your cats, what about your Pug?"

Living in the big city, I know that it's a lot easier to hide a cat (even two) in a building that has a no pets policy, than it is to hide a dog. Cat owners have a lot more leeway in terms of rentals than dog owners do, as well.

And, I have to agree with the poster who wanted to know reasons and health issues of the cats -- especially when the OP started her tale as "kitties" (i.e., small, soft bundles of cuddly fur), and changed it to "cats" (i.e., independent, temperamental beings who believe themselves god).

I don't know about Denver, but where I'm from (metro Detroit) there are apartments that allow one (small) pet, but no more than one. It might be that the OP was in this kind of situation and had to choose one of her pets over the others...if that was so, then I reluctantly agree she made the right choice. Dogs bond so deeply with their humans and can break their hearts over being given away, but cats...well, let's just say cats are not dogs. The kitties will probably be okay as long as they can stay together, and as long as their new owner treats them kindly.
