Ah, yes. Prince Harry dresses as a Nazi and the media comes over and over and over again, wanking like there's no tomorrow.

rtuko posts the wankfest on mock_the_stupid.

Everything is fun and games until [info]strange_doll shows up not once but twice in a display of self-righteous indignation and illogic that would do any wanker proud.

My, strange_doll certainly seems impressed with herself. She has a monopoly on the Holocaust, World War II, Naziism, and oppression in general!

Check the link in one of the comments where she earlier took extreme offense to the "Spanish as a second language" concept. Apparently this is a trend.

Maybe Jews aren't a race (we're an ethnic group and/or a religion spanning the various races; try telling my parents-in-law that Jews and gentiles should all sing kumbaya), but it doesn't matter, as the only race card I think she can play is the Wanktovians.

Huh. What is it about Tviokh that brings out the raving overreaction in people? This is about the sixth throwaway comment of hers that I've seen spawn a shitstorm.

Anyway, I'm amused. I don't care who his parents are, in all probability he did it for attention and OH BOY has he got it.

I'll be honest, I think Harry dressing up as a Nazi was idiotic and tasteless. Strange_doll is being wanky, sure, but so are the people defending his Nazi cosplay. But then, I'm one of those people who think Nazi Chic is the worst youth trend of the last 15 or 20 years, and not at all cute.

It doesn't necessarily, but if I was a British WW2 vet and I opened up the Sun or the Globe or the Neptune or whatever trashy tabloid it is I'd be reading and saw some twerp whose entire fortune is basically supported by tax dollars dressing up as the guys I was shooting at and dodging bullets from 60 years ago, I'd likely be a little annoyed.

However, if he was dressed up as a "zany, wacky" Nazi, like Tim Conway in that Carol Burnett Show sketch, then that's different.

On another note, I really enjoyed the post by the person who said it was the newspaper's fault and they "shouldn't have been taking those pictures at all!" Uh. I really don't think the paparazzi are interested in preserving the royal family's image, sweetie.

Yanno, I first saw a link to Nazi!Harry while reading a Harry Potter article. I immediately thought "OMG!! Harry Potter is an HJ kid! Just like Swing Kids!!" It took a while to figure out WHICH Harry they were talking about.

Of all the coverage of this incident I've seen so far, only one has mentioned that it was a come in bad taste party. The other guests were not wearing bunny and shepherdess outfits.

So, yesterday I was hanging at the antiques market talking to the man who sells French Revolutionary Cavalary swords and Nazi regalia, and he showed us an SS sword he'd just acquired and joked about how he's going to put "by Royal Appointment" over his shop.

My final word on this is that if he wasn't third in line to the throne then no one would even have fucking known what he wore to a private party and no one would have cared. The weird thing about the royal family is that they're celebrities by birth, not by choice. The only criticism I have of his costume is that it was CRAP. He should have seen the Nazi Regalia man and got a better one.
