Customers suck, and so do "skanks".
In the ever-popular Customers Suck community, Chun Ye makes a post which is not actually about "skanks", but contains the word "skank". Mexicanicepick dislikes the use of that word. There is much arguing here. Personally, I thought "skank" was something to do with reggae.

Also, take a gander at the Feminist Rage community, where another post is made there about the incident.

....oy. I hate wanks that make me want to smack everybody involved. Which is most of them, yes. Like, I find the use of 'skank' and 'hobag' to be annoying, at best. But the feminist_rage people...well, I have an odd fascination with the community, and I'll read it from time to time. They really will leap on you for using the wrong word, and generally use any excuse to freak the hell out. Like recently where people blew a fuse because someone said, about a stupid, sexist couple, 'I hope they don't breed'. Oh no, taking away breeding rights! The poster wants to physically sterilize them herself! And not, you know, an offhand remark meant to be silly and insulting.

I dropped out of it because I was sick of seeing the word spelled poorly by the head mod person. And the idea that if I didn't accept anyone's idea about opression, up to and including dumbfuck ideas, I was helping oppress "wymyn" everywhere got on my nerves. Hey, some women are skanks, and I'm not going to avoid using the word because it's "OMG oppressive and meen to the wymyn!" anymore than I'm going to stop using the word brat for bratty kids.

Eh, I know feminist_rage is the trendy group to bash, and they do get wanky on a regular basis, but personally I found the backpedaling among the OP and her supporters to be wankier. "I choose to use 'skank' as a derogatory term for men as well as women, even though I only applied it to a woman, and therefore my statement could not possibly come across as misogynist. And even if it was limited to women, it's not misogynist because it doesn't bash all women, only the skanks."

I tend to agree, and I did only include the feminist_rage followup for the sake of completeness (since there's not much of it there). After all, if you apply the word "skank" to the female half of a pair only, you can't expect people to believe that you apply it to men and women, especially when you probably never have. Anyway, I think wearing mini clothes in wintry weather is not "slutty" so much as "stupid". You're not so attractive with blue legs, I'm afraid. Not to mention those men who walk around in T-shirts at this time of year - I'm sure we're all very amazed at their manly feats of endurance :/

I wasn't too terribly offended by the use of the term skank because yes, the OP applied it to the female half of the couple, but with the disclaimer that he was the twelfth guy that week to be with her. What if he didn't know? Maybe she was a heartless player and he was omgzz blinded by love.

It's sad. He'll probably marry her, then come to his senses in his forties as she screams at him to iron her shirts and make her a sandwich.
