	Whoa... Chihuahua wank. I just hope Chihuahua don't really cost 500 dollars or more, I have no idea if mine is show quality, only that he is a purebred. I paid 150USD for him so 500 just seems... whoa, unless they come with their own satellite and remote control. It's very common for a purebred dog, even a small one, to cost 500, or much more. But it all depends on the breeder. People who are into showing, or sporting, can pay thousands for a dog. In that world, people will pay 500 dollars for dog sperm! Unfortunately, I've also seen some really crappy backyard breeders and pet stores selling dogs, including mixes, for an obscenely inflated price. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	Luckily, I bought Roy for my father, so he can feel the warmth in his heart return after so many months without a chihuahua. I guess I got a good deal then, since we've checked the papers and everything to make sure its legit. (You have to be extra careful about that in Puerto Rico.) Wow though. Its simply amazing. 	Oh word. I had a Siberian Husky. Between problems with her thyroid, some other problem that I can't remember now, and eventually cancer, it's sworn me off purebred dogs for life. Of course, I think a lot of what was going on with her could have been spared if her vet would have been competent. That's just me though. And yeah, I'm a little bitter, but I'll spare you that. The breeder my Devon Rex babies were rescued from (one was too small for showing, the other had a ripped ear) used to breed Siamese cats, but the obsession in Australian showing with narrow heads had led to too many Siamese kittens being born with braincases too narrow for their brains... ~shudder~ I think UK showing standards are more realistic and less cruel. I've lucked out with my Rexes, as the breed is very hardy so long as you keep them warm while at rest and find a vet not stupid enough to think they have a fever because their temperature is higher than those of other cats. *snerk* Being a vet tech does NOT mean that you're at all well informed about animals. I've worked at a vet clinic. Since high school. Yeah, you pick up stuff. On the other hand, some of my co-workers were the most woefully ignorant and stupid people I've ever had the misfortune to meet. On the other other hand, they also didn't last very long.
