3:47p - It's like Live And Let Die, but without the coolness!
Vodou isn't just about fighting the stereotypes of voodoo dolls and Kananga! It's also about flamewars!
It starts when Ross Heaven, a UK-based writer and shaman, breaks off all ties with Mambo Racine, a woman originally from the US and now living in Haiti.
Racine sends him a message privately, which Ross sends to the list. Racine then writes a nice long "never mentioning names" post about "What is Public, What is Secret, in Haitian Vodou", including:
"An initiate who talks is ostracized, and I can not exaggerate the scorn that is heaped on such a person. They will not be received in any other Houngan or Mambo's house, and although their initiator can not kick them out of their home peristyle, they are going to be punished and probably disinvited from the peristyle for a period of time. Some Houngans and Mambos will beat blabbermouth initiates severely, with the enthusiastic assistance of other initiates of the same house."
What could she be talking about? Could it be Mr. Heavens' new book?
Be astounded as Racine lets slip that Heavens was drunken, abusive, and just plain mean! Watch other people get involved! (Including, which makes it even more appropriate for this community, a discussion on verbal wanking!)
Be amazed at the anti-Mambo Racine website! And the previous incarnations!
And, above all else, be astounded at how long the wank goes on!
Now with added news articles!

6:00p - Another mock_the_stupid wank.
Someone should rename mock_the_stupid to "24hourwank".
In this post, chafed complains about -- well, I'm not sure, since Babelfish doesn't have a Crack Addict -> English option.
As is to be expected, some members mock her mercilessly, others object to the mocking, and others call troll.
Somewhere within the black hole of collapsed threads, chafed posts the girl she's ranting about's phone number (with no area code, thank God). Chafed also claims to be 28, which sadly is several years short of being eligible for Presidential office.

11:43p - More Wallpaper Wank... and it's not even from Devart
I hang out on the Mediaminer forums, which means I tend to keep a raincoat and umbrella under my desk, just in case. Anyhow, one of the (many) forums in there is the Website Feedback forum, where bugs can be reported. Most of them fall under the standard 'my fic won't upload right', 'I can't see my reviews', or other such things, with the occasional suggestion for a new feature to the site. Firestarr posts to the forum complaining about how all the wallpapers she made were deleted for plagiarism I hang out on the Mediaminer forums, which means I tend to keep a raincoat and umbrella under my desk, just in case. Firestarr posts to the forum complaining about how all the wallpapers she made were deleted for plagiarism. Fanilla points out that any image in a user's public gallery must be the owner's original work -- no photomanips or picture involving screenshots/promotional artwork. Firestarr points out that one of the images is original, and gets mad at the posters for calling her a thief. She is asked by Dan for proof, so she posts a cropped version of the wallpaper. Witness repeated references to the images as stolen, defensive complaining, and random bystanders coming in from both sides.
I've been watching this thread for a while... it's better than the movies. Warning: Large images in signatures.
